For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
As we were driving to the airport, Kat contacted Sky again and told her not to continue towards the airport. Aari said it would be too dangerous to sit around at the airport for a half hour or longer waiting for the jet to arrive. It would be a perfect time for Rico to attack us again, and we would be in the open. We don’t want to sit inside the terminal building as that would endanger innocent people, which we definitely don’t want.
So, it was decided to take kind of a round about way to get there and in the process pick up Kat along the way. Plans were made to meet at a specific location in the parking lot of a supermarket. Kat would quickly transfer to our van and we would, both, then drive away fast. It is daylight now and everyone is hoping that Rico and his men would be hiding somewhere and not willing to come after us.
However, Rico went straight home and discovered we had taken Sienna and his new sex slave, Kitty, which turned him absolutely red with anger. He was now more determined than ever to track us down before we had a chance to leave the country. He knew the best way for us to leave was by plane, so he and his men went directly to the airport.
But, before they arrived there, one of his men spotted our vans in the parking lot, just as Kat transferred to our van. Suddenly there were an assortment of cars, vans and trucks, 15 in all, turning into that parking lot. Both of our vans left in a hurry, deciding to stay together for better safety. We put out a call to the others to rejoin us quickly because Rico had found us.
Sherry was driving our van and she must be the wildest driver we have now! “Okay Fluffy,” she said, “time for Plan D getaway!” ‘Me Fluffy, go straight to Parktown Street, not far away, then turn left.” We did that and everyone thought the van was going to tip. One van in Rico’s group did flip right over! That took care of several men anyway.
It might also get the police involved, which may or may not be a good thing. It’s hard to tell whose side they would be on in this situation. So we just figured it’s best to stay away from them. I say “we”, but I’m out of the picture for now, still being unconscious. Kat has stopped the bleeding now, it had already slowed down as Sky was applying a lot of pressure to slow the bleeding.
The wound was right up near the shoulder and unless Kat can do something, I will likely be left with a permanent injury. But what I need right now is blood, unfortunately Dawn has been wounded too seriously, so she will not be able to share her blood with me. So, that leaves only Sky, and she is a ghost, so how can I get blood from her?
Assuming she even has blood now. There are some things about our ghosts that we still don’t know and I have promised not to order them to give their health information to us. “Fluffy say turn right quick!” Suddenly we spun in a complete circle, but we didn’t tip over and we made the turn. A truck and Rico’s group was not so lucky and it ended up rolling several times, finally staying upside down.
“Hey Sherry,” said Sky, “how come you still have Fluffy, I thought you found a cat.” “Well, Carine wanted a cat too,” she replied, “and since she was the only ghost without a cat, it just didn’t seem right for me to get one first. So I let Carine have him. I’ll take the next one.” “Aww, you’re a good girl Sherry,” said Angel. “Hey, watch that,” said Sherry, “I’m a Bad Girl, remember?”
Everyone laughed. It can be good to have some laughter during rough times, and right now we need it. “Can you do something for his arm Kat?” asked Sky, “Or will he lose the use of that arm?” “I think it will be okay,” she said, “though it may not be quite as good as before.” Suddenly there was another sharp turn and the van was on two tires that time.
“I wish we had our own van,” said Sherry, “they are more stable and are better on those sharp turns.” “I wish we had one too,” said Amerie, “I am pale like a, um, a…sheet!” “You were going to say ghost, right Amerie?” asked Angel. “Well, um, maybe, uh, sort of, a little,” she replied, somewhat embarrassed. “Suzette,” said Kat, “look in my backpack and pick out a few gifts for Rico.
She quickly did so and Chloe opened the back doors of the van. Rico’s lead car swerved quickly out of the way, but the car behind his had the gifts land right on the hood of the car, destroying the whole car and causing the one behind it to crash. Then the rest of the team came along, pulling in behind Rico’s men, then driving up alongside and shooting out the side door.
Soon Rico and his remaining men turned off, quitting the chase. But, did they go back home or did they take another way to the airport, hoping to get there first? I guess we will find out. It was now time for us to make our way to the airport. When we arrived our jet was already waiting for us, with Aari and his team just going on board. We quickly drove up to the jet and everyone boarded the plane.
Soon the jet was heading down the runway and we were in the air, heading away from trouble. Hopefully, anyway. We still had wounded people to deal with, including me. Kat asked Al, the pilot, to hook us up to Jennifer. We had a large screen in the main room and Jennifer soon showed up on that screen.
“Steve needs blood,” said Kat, “without it he will not make it home alive. But Dawn is too seriously wounded and she is the only one with the right blood type. I can help her, but it will likely be too late to help Steve. Sky is the only other one, but you know the dangers involved. Without Sky’s blood, Steve dies. With Sky’s blood he has a 50% chance of survival, but we still don’t know what that means exactly.
We need your approval and Bridgette can start the blood flowing.” “Do it Kat,” she said, “at least Steve has a chance this way. But remember the rule, not if it means Sky will die.” “Nothing to worry about Jennifer,” said Kat, “Sky won’t die from this.” Bridgette then began to let Sky’s blood flow to me…
To Be Continued.

I’m glad it’s Tuesday! Maybe I can get a few minutes to stop and rest!🥵 Way to many things went on the past weekend.

I just sent you a comment and this one showed up at the same time! I figured you must be busy!

I’ve been busy moving things for my separated daughter. I have to do things when she has the time. She has been work several shifts just to keep herself afloat financially. I’m doing the best I can to keep up.

Wow, good thing you’re nice and handy to her right now! Nothing like keeping busy in the summer! Sorry I disappeared, I actually went out on the balcony to plant some flowers, then I fell asleep. Oh well. Got some things done today anyway. Smoke from the fires has been real bad yesterday and today, just laying in there thick. It has gotten very windy now so the smoke is clearing out. But that wind will be bad for the fires.😬🙀🔥

Yeah, I took a look at the forecast, and the winds are supposed to switch to the northwest, which means the smoke may start moving this way also.

That’s okay, we don’t mind sharing some of that smoke, we have too much right now. All across western Canada there are bad fires right now and thousands of people are evacuated.

I sympathize with them. I can’t begin to imagine how disruptive to your life that would be.
What kind of flowers did you plant?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Just some geraniums and petunias, nothing fancy but they work good in pots and they are nice and colorful.
Yeah, in one town there wasn’t much left, houses burned to the ground, nothing but black trees.

Yikes!😬 Was it remembrance day for you ladt weekend?

Nope, we have ours in November. It would be nice to have it when the weather is nicer.

I thought Canada had a spring remembrance day. What’s on your agenda for tomorrow?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Nope, not us.
Not sure, I was planning on going out for some picture taking, but then I found out they want to inspect the apartments tomorrow, so I need to stay home. Sigh. Likely finish planting my flowers tomorrow. I will try repotting a couple of indoor plants too. It’s warm enough now I can do it on the balcony.

Is it going to warm up there the end of this week? It’s supposed we d to be in the 80’s here.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, we are supposed to get into the 80s as well. I don’t understand why this came in 18 minutes ago and yet it just showed up. That gets frustrating sometimes!

Yes, I know! It happens to me ALL the time. Then by the time I get it, you’re off to sleepy time. 😴 💤 🛌

Yes, that has happened. Maybe it’s smoke interference? Hmm, Muffin is awake, guess she’s hungry.

I don’t blame her. I just finished my pork chops!😋 I like pork chops!😋 When are you starting a new investigation? I want to make sure I start from the beginning on the next one.

Yes, I like pork chops too! I just started a new investigation, I’m on chapter 7 today, not published yet. I think I got myself a little in a corner and can’t get out.

How about that one?

This case should be wrapped up in another 5 chapters, sort of. More or less. I think. Then I will start another case which I’m already thinking about. I think.
Anyway, time for getting offline from online which is my regular timeline! Chatter tomorrow again if you’re free!😃

Good morning Dusty! Hey, I’ve been awake since before 3am! I had a nap already too. We had a fire in our building last night, the alarm went off just before 3. It wasn’t major, contained in one apartment a couple floors below me. That alarm was blasting for 50 minutes, wow it’s loud. I could smell smoke from the fire though it wasn’t too bad. It was cloudy here this morning, now it’s mostly sunny with a bit of high flying smoke from forest fires. Muffin hid when the fire alarm went off this morning.

I would hide, too!🫣😬 Poor thing! 🙀 Did you have to evacuate?
LikeLiked by 1 person
We were supposed to evacuate the building, but I can’t walk down 6 flights of stairs. So for people like me we go out onto the balcony and wait for help.

I guess that might buy you a little time in a real fire.
So, planting flowers again today?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yep, we have two ladder trucks that can reach this high and one bucket truck that can reach here as well. So in a major fire they would come right away. We are quite a distance from the fire station though. Apparently it was more smoke than fire and it was on our floor, but at the other end. Yep, more flowers today and hopefully tomorrow I can get out for pictures!

No, I finally got the wings on the new plane today. It has a 73-inch wing span. I’m making some progress. I still have the tail and horizontal stabilizer to mount yet, but that won’t happen until the weekend or next week.

Wow, that’s as tall as you! The forest fire smoke has moved in real thick making the sun a reddish orange color and giving the whole landscape a real haunting glow.

Sorry for the late reply, but your comment just came through. Sigh. I am coughing a bit. I hope it won’t affect my sleeping tonight. I have to leave a bit early so I can try getting to bed earlier. I will be back from my picture taking trip by noon so will check in with you then.😃

Good morning Dusty! How’s things down your way? So much smoke here we can’t see the sun and at times it’s hard to breathe. I have been coughing all day. I am also very sore from my trip out for pictures today. It was a good day though!

Good morning??😮 What time did you wake up today?😂😂 Everything’s doing good here! The sun finally decided to make an appearance! Very nice! Now it’s time for the warm air to follow!
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yep, low 80s here tomorrow and working it’s way up to upper 80s by Sunday and Monday. Of course that will depend on the smoke situation. If the smoke blocks the sun it doesn’t get as hot, like today.

That’s a rough day of picture taking for sure! We’re you not watching where you were going? Did the hill sneak up on you?🤔

I was watching, but the ground is so dry right now that it just slipped away from under my feet! It has been a long time since I have seen the forests here so dry. Another 17,000 people were evacuated today.

How far from your town?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Good morning Dusty! Wow, the smoke today is unreal, sitting low over the town, looks like a very thick fog. It really is hard to breathe today, worst day yet. Two reserves north of us, 15 and 25 miles have been evacuated since they only have one road access. That’s about 2,000 people. The biggest evacuations are in Manitoba next to us and the latest round of 17,000 are a long ways from us. Looks like there could be another 10,000 that will be evacuated too, they are on alert right now, just depends on the wind. We have a new fire which is now 100,000 acres and is about 35 miles from us.

That’s not very far!!😬 I sure hope there’s some rain coming your way soon!
How did the pictures turn out? Have you gone through them yet?
LikeLiked by 1 person
No real relief of rain in the forecast, but perhaps some showers coming on Tuesday. That doesn’t really help though, we need some general rain coverage. Right now there are 2,000 people trapped in a town, the only road out is blocked by a large fire, the armed forces was using some Hercules aircraft to get people out, but the smoke got so thick at the airport they had to stop. The fire is only 1 mile from town. Also they lost radio contact with 8 firefighters and they don’t know what has happened to them. Another 5,000 people at two reserves north of us have now been evacuated due to another large fire that’s over 100 thousand acres and moving quickly to their communities. It’s really getting bad up this way. We definitely need lots of rain, and soon!
Yes, I have gone through the photos, had to delete a bunch, but I didn’t think those ones would turn out anyway. About a dozen that I was hoping would be good ended up no good at all. Sad. But that’s part of photography, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t.

Well, I’m not sure. I might sleep late tomorrow, get up, eat, have a nap, get up, eat, have another nap, get up, eat, go to bed. Or I might sit on the balcony all day and watch the gulls fly around.😃

Sounds pretty exciting 😀 😂 My grandson is coming over around noon, he wants me to help him change the oil in his car. Then I might take my new plane over to the flying clubs president and have him look it over 🤔 and see what I messed up and to get some help on the electronics setup for a gas two stroke engine.

Ooo, you’re day sounds more interesting than mine, except maybe changing the oil, I never did find that exciting. Oh well, I’m off now until tomorrow. I’ll check in and see if you’re around!
