For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
We were in Koffman’s office still, after having taken care of Luther and his men, although two men were still standing and we put them on the floor where Decker tied them up. Koffman gave me the directions to Helene’s hideout, which was right out in the open. What better way to hide than in the open?
No one would even think you were trying to hide if you don’t try. After getting the information from Koffman we went on our way, reminding him we may come back if he is leading us astray. He chuckled and said he would have the coffee ready. We had to head north to Hannover and look for a hotel called “The Chambers”. Amazing really.
Apparently it’s a nice hotel built around an old jail which has 8 cells in it. People can pay to stay one night in one of these original jail cells, complete with no privacy whatever. And it costs more than staying in one of the hotels regular rooms. We stopped one night about half way there, just to make sure we arrive nicely rested to deal with Helene.
Provided she is even still at her hideout. The next morning while having breakfast, I received a phone call from Koffman. “Good morning Koffman,” I said, “what’s up?” “Sorry to tell you Steve,” he replied, “but Helene is not at her hideout after all. She is right here in my office.” I then heard a gun shot, quite loud. Then I heard a familiar voice.
“Good morning Steve,” said Helene, “that gunshot you heard was aimed at your former rat. He is now dead and won’t be betraying anyone, especially me, ever again. Too bad you are heading in the wrong direction Steve. I am already in my car with my men, heading for a certain chateau. I think you might know the place, it’s where you live.
Thank you for taking most of your team along with you on this expedition of yours, it will make it so much easier for me to kill of the remainder of your team. Oh, yes, I do have the men I need to do the job, I made sure to hire the right number this time. Ta, ta, have a lovely trip Steve.”
“She outsmarted us again,” I said, “and there’s no way we can catch up to her either.” “Not all of us perhaps,” said Jennifer, “but some of us can get there ahead of her. Perhaps we can bluff her the same way she did to us.” I called all the ghosts together and we talked things over. “It just might work,” said Kat, “it doesn’t hurt to try it anyway. Sky can take 2 with her and you can take one.”
“I think Steve can take 2 as well,” said Sky, “he can get strength from one of the other ghosts if he needs it.” “But what if she’s tricking us again?” asked Kristina, “She might then try attacking us when all of our ghosts are gone back to the chateau.” “Hmm, yes, that is something to consider,” I said, “okay, Sky can take me and one other ghost back to the chateau.”
“Steve, remember that you are my twin,” said Sky, “you can do most of the things I can do, including travel. There’s a couple of things you can’t do, but there are a couple of things you can do that I can’t do. So, we each take another ghost plus one other person with us.” “That will be perfect,” said Jennifer, “Sky should take Angel and Dawn. Steve, you take Kat and…”
“ME!” said Misty as she wrapped her arms around my neck from behind me. “Good choice with Misty, Steve,” said Kat, “but take Kristina or Carine with you instead of me. Jennifer, Kristina and I will stay with the team here and try to get back as soon as we can.” “Okay, in that case I will take Carine with me,” I said. “Perfect choice,” said Jennifer.
“But what if Helene is on her way back to her hideout?” asked Misty. “I don’t think she was ever there,” I told her. “Oh, how sneaky!” said Misty. I then called Aari. “Good morning Steve,” he said, “just got the coffee started. The guys should be getting up soon I imagine…” That was as far as he got when I interrupted him.
“Aari, it’s a Code Red! Helene is on her way and she may even be at the chateau already,” I said, “get those guys up and ready to fight now!” “Right away Steve!” he said and he hit the alarm for Code Red. The alarm also sounded in the chateau itself and the remaining girls were running around getting ready.
Three of the girls were busy getting the cats ready with their backpacks and then sending them outside to scatter around the chateau to hide. I had called Hannah after talking with Aari to let her know what to expect.
I left Hannah in charge as she is a good leader having had several years experience as the leader of her own gang. She has become a very trusted member of our team. Sky, myself and our “hitchhikers” arrived shortly after…
To Be Continued.

Helene does not mess around and is quite ruthless. Koffman did not last long. Will she destroy your team? You do have secret weapons with you and your fellow ghosts. Helene did not want to be on the losing side of things. She thought you were dead but is now talking with you. Hopefully, you will win this round with her. Not good to lose so many times to her. Glad Hannah is leading a group in defense of your home. Also the ghost factor will help.

Yep, Koffman met his match with Helene. But he used to do the same thing to others when his organization was stronger. Yes, Helene doesn’t know we have so many ghosts on our side now, but she will find out quickly enough. Yes, quite interesting she believed I had been killed but was not surprised to be talking with me. We will not lose this time, but can we catch her? If our plan works, then we have her and all her men too. Hannah is a good trustworthy leader, that’s why I like to keep her at home looking after things for us. Helene will be in for a big surprise!🤔👩😼👻🕵️♂️

By the way did you see the comment I made 3 days ago on chapter 11?

Your comment didn’t show up here, so I checked my blog with my phone and saw the comment on there. Not sure why it didn’t show up here, it wasn’t in the spam folder either. Very sorry about that! I’m embarrassed! I will have to start using my phone to check comments now too. Sigh.🤔

It must be on of the WordPress quirks. I check my comments on the bell and also on the WordPress Dashboard. Some people’s comments only end up in the comments acceded through the Word Press administrator. Don’t have the app WP on my phone because I like more options than they give me. Don’t worry about it. But I did want you to know I hadn’t forgotten to read and comment. 😊

Yes, kind of strange, I don’t recall that ever happening before. I usually just use the bell, but sometimes the dashboard as well. I have the WP app on my phone because once I was locked out of my site going through my laptop, but the app worked. I just have a hard time doing things on such a small screen, so I don’t like to use it. Thanks for pointing that out, I did wonder why you hadn’t commented on that one. I really enjoy your comments and you’re the only one left that does comment. Your comments add a lot of fun to the story!😊🕵️♂️

It has happened before but I never mentioned it, due to thinking you had been busy. Good to hear my comments add a lot of fun to the story. Comments that show interaction with the story are important.

Oh my, that’s bad, I always answer if I see the comment. Maybe I should use my phone more often to check for comments. Yes, I enjoy comments and used to get quite a few at one time, but none of those people are blogging anymore.

My comments used to be more also. I went to many blogs and commented and liked. Once WordPress took away my ability to like blogs, it was much harder. Additionally, I am working and don’t have as much time. The blogging community is fluid and old bloggers quit and new ones come for a season. You have to enjoy the process of blogging. Have been at it for 16 years and enjoy it.

Yes, I do enjoy blogging, even though things are not like it used to be. I have talked to several other bloggers who have now quit and their blogs went from getting a hundred or more likes per post down to less than ten likes per post, so they quit because of that. All of them said the same thing, that starting in 2022 things really changed and likes dropped off. That is what I have noticed too. A lot of people moved to other social media instead. I prefer blogging and have been at it for nearly 8 years now.

Yes, things have changed with blogging and there are so many other social media platforms. People have moved onto other things but there are those who still get comments. However, there are some that comment who have never read the post and make the same comment every time like interesting . Have a blessed day!

Yes, I have had people like that and they leave the same two word comment all the time! Oh well, still fun anyway!
