Well, time keeps going by and we haven’t had any exciting cases come our way since finishing off the last one 3 days ago. With Kat and Jennifer back in place as Leader 1, well, I really have nothing to do. Besides, I’m still technically on recovery right now, for another 2 weeks. Everyone likes having Kat and Jennifer in Leader 1 position and wants them to stay there.

Fine with me, less stress, less mess, less that I will have to guess. Now I’m doing it. Someone is coming up with these short little whatever they are and they stick in one’s head and they are impossible to forget. Like this one, “Some men are bad, some men are worse, but Steve is just a daily curse.” And another one, “Problems come here and problems come there but Steve is like having cooties in your hair.”

I kind of like them. Kat and Jennifer don’t. I mean, they really don’t. Because they can’t get them out of their head. Everyone goes around saying them, but no one claims to be making them. Into the library I go saying the “Some men are bad” one. Jennifer had not heard that one yet. She looked at me.

“How would you like to be on bathroom cleaning duty all by yourself?” she asked me. That’s when I found out she didn’t like them. Just then I spotted Cristy sneaking past the library, then running quickly upstairs. I should mention, Kat and Jennifer apologized to Misty and Cristy and took them off bathroom cleaning duty. So, everything is back to normal.

Except for these short whatever they are. I think they’re funny. Kat and Jennifer don’t. Anyway, I disappeared. “Now where did he go?” Jennifer asked herself sighing. I ended up in Misty and Cristy’s bedroom, just as Cristy was crawling into a little hideaway spot they discovered, and worked on. Misty was about to put the little door back on, but I stopped her.

“Hi,” I said, “may I come in?” They sighed and let me in. They had a rug on the floor, two cushions to sit on, a small table with a battery lamp. “Cool hideaway,” I said, “everyone would love to know about this.” That got me one of the cushions to sit on, while they tried sharing the other one. And we shared the donuts. “Stealing a whole plate of donuts though, that’s bad,” I said, munching away, “sure wouldn’t want Kat and Jennifer to find out about this.” From now on they will tell me and I can join them.

Later that day we got a phone call from a potential client, she wanted to come over and talk with us about something very important. So, at 3pm she showed up, driving an ordinary car. Meow, meow.= She not have money, we say no. “Muffin, that is not nice,” said Jennifer, “we must listen to her story first.” She came in to the library with Kat, Jennifer and I, plus Cristy.

I had told the girls that no one else should be present, to keep their identities hidden. She admitted to not having much money, but her daughter had gone missing. She had gone to the police and they did check around some, but their thought was that she ran off with her boyfriend. But she said her daughter would never do that without telling her.

The boyfriend, who worked in a local bank, also disappeared the same day. It did appear like they probably went off together, but why they did so is unclear. Something didn’t sound quite right. They had just gotten engaged 2 days before they disappeared, they had even purchased a flat in a town about an hour from here. He moved in right away and she helped her daughter move some of her things over there too.

Then 3 days ago her daughter went by herself and never came back. Her boyfriend didn’t go to work that day either. When she tried phoning her daughter, she never answered, so she drove over to the flat and the door was unlocked, so she went in. A rather dangerous thing to do, but no one was there. She did find her daughter’s phone, so she tried calling the boyfriend, but he didn’t answer his phone either.

That’s when she contacted the police. She began to cry at this point and Jennifer looked at me and I nodded yes. Kat saw that too so she told the lady we would take the case, since the police investigation is over, so we are not interfering with them. I asked if we could look in the flat and she gave us a key to it. The mother’s name was Eloise Fleury and her daughter is Clarisse.

The boyfriend is Marcel Garnier. Then she mentioned he had a cat that he and Clarisse had found abandoned one day. They both loved the cat and he kept it with him, but now the cat lives with Eloise. I asked if we could see the cat and she said yes, but wondered why. “Just part of a thorough investigation,” I told her.

She then left, but Kat told her it would be best not to tell anyone we were looking into this for her. She understood that we would want secrecy so she promised to keep things quiet. Cristy had a copy of the police investigation for us right away, but it didn’t help much. I didn’t really think it would. They thought the young couple eloped, nothing suspicious about that.

Except, why would they do it when they had their wedding plans all done already, with everything paid for too. Although the couple’s cat may not be able to communicate with people, it will be able to communicate with our cats. So, we will take Muffin, Jewel and Snow with us to meow with the cat. Hopefully we will get some good information from him. I asked Cristy to get a complete life history of Marcel for us, plus Eloise and her daughter.

Eloise’s husband died from a heart attack 4 years ago, but I wanted his history too, just in case. We discovered that Marcel was actually from Canada, his parents died 4 years ago and he moved to France. He met Clarisse 2 years ago. He did have a good inheritance from his parents and he was an only child, which meant he got everything. So, there was certainly no money problems for the young couple.

Clarisse lived at home and was not working at present, but had been working at a local bakery. Marcel is 25 and Clarisse is 20. The next morning Jennifer and I arrived at Eloise’s flat and we had brought our cats with us. We talked with Eloise some more while our cats talked with hers. Periodically I noticed their ears going straight up…

  1. Jennifer and Kat seem like they have gotten used to be Number 1 leaders and may not want to step aside for you at some later date!

    Glad that Cristy and Misty are off bathroom cleaning duty. You might get this duty next! Cristy and Misty seemed to want some alone time and reluctantly let you join them.

    This new case seems simple but it sure to get complicated fast. The cats are good investigators and will certainly have much information to relay.

    • Yes, Kat and Jennifer seem to like it at the top, but that might change after a while. Being Leader 1 is a lot more than a name tag.

      Um, yes, I might need to be careful, a little. Misty and Cristy wanting alone time? Away from me? They are also hiding after sneaking a whole plate of donuts! I’m just showing them how much fun it is to share.

      Yes, a simple missing person’s case is not so bad. Unfortunately we are entering the case a bit late, after the police. Trying to find them now will be a bigger challenge, but we can do it. I hope. Yes, our cats should get some good information from this other cat.🤔👩😼👻🕵️‍♂️

  3. Hi there! I’m late in my reply because my grandson came to take me out to lunch for my b-day tomorrow. OK, at least I have an idea of what they are.🤔 Odd name, though, why not just call them lice or whatever they are?🤔

    • I thought everyone knew what cooties were. There’s even a game called Cootie, made in the USA, I have one, which is why I thought it was common. We use it a lot here in Canada, sounds better than lice, not so bad like.😨🙀

      Hey, Happy day before your Birthday!! 🥳 Just in case I forget tomorrow. Back to the doctor for me tomorrow morning, whole load of bloodwork getting done. Hopefully the sun will be shining so I can get some pics done too. The smoke is supposed to finally clear tonight.😷🔥

    • The nap was short, too short. Why do people phone right when I want a nap? Could have phoned any other time today, but no, they had to wait until I laid down for a nap. Sigh. Supper is leftovers that were left over from last night. What’s for supper down your way?🤔

  9. Hi, I know it is very hazy here today, too. I’m going to eat a little bit of pizza here i mn a few minutes then back outside to do a little more cleaning on my Mustang interior.

    • Yep, I’ll stay home and relax tomorrow.😷 Sunday I might sit out on the balcony with Muffin after church. 😷🙀 Then Monday I will shop and then relax after all the weekend excitement.🙃😎 How about you?🤔

    • Hey, that sounds like a great idea! I got sidetracked, Muffin wanted food, then attention, now she’s having her pre bedtime nap. The smoke is clearing out a teeny tiny bit.

  14. I watched a news video about the fires up there. I didn’t realize they were so far north. And there’s a bunch of them! Wow! I hope the winds change soon.

    • Yep, there are 47 here in our part of the world, with the largest being half a million acres right now. But Manitoba and Saskatchewan are the worst hit. Those far north areas will take 150 years to get those trees back again.

  16. Goooood Mooornin! 😁 I’m happy to hear you slept well last night! I did the same! I didn’t get up until 10😬(oops). Oh well, it felt good. The smoke is still around here as well, not as bad as it was yesterday, though. It’s a bit windy, too. So, more repotting today or just lounging on the patio?

    • I’m going to try and finish the repotting today and hopefully spend a bit of time on the balcony too. I was hoping to go for a walk too, but I still have to do the church bulletin as well, so I will walk tomorrow instead. My back is complaining too much for a walk anyway. What are you up to today?🙃

    • Yep, me too. I do need to pot a couple of my leaf cuttings though, their roots are getting badly entangled. However, I was going to plant them together anyway, so maybe I don’t have to rush.🙄😂

    • Not much going on here, still smoky, hit 84 today and the humidity is higher too. My back pain is absolutely terrible today. So, no walking today, try again tomorrow.

    • Yeah, terrible though when the weather is so nice. I just noticed the smoke is clearing out, I can actually see clouds now and only a slight haze. Speaking of smoke, the drug boys are at it again I see, or maybe I should say, smell. How’s the car coming along?

  26. I’m waiting on a few more parts to arrive. I was working on the stereo system today. I have the new top, now I need the carpet and the new hydraulic cylinder for the top.

    • Then you can start cruising around town! Well, got to go again, maybe lying down will help my back a bit. hmm, should be fireworks tonight marking our big summer weekend! It will also keep me awake. Sigh. I can see them good from my balcony though. Talk tomorrow!🙃

    • Hey Dusty, I’m here again.😊 Actually those fireworks are the same every year, so not very exciting. They didn’t have any this year though, it was getting too expensive apparently.🤔 The Canada Day fireworks were okay, but didn’t last very long.

    I’m at my daughters again, helping her put up a wall desk in her apartment. Just got done. We had a family breakfast this morning to celebrate everyone’s b-day in August it’s my twin Grandsons today. They turned 20!😲

    • Cool, a wall desk! I like those. Wow, turning 20 already, and with you barely 60…ish. Cool that a bunch of family has birthdays in the same month like that. Sun is almost sort of shining now.😎 Supposed to rain shortly though, but it sure doesn’t look like it right now.🙄

  29. It’s mostly cloudy here also with the sun trying to peek through. Yeah, August…. the first Christmas of the year for me 😂😂 but it’s fun to get everyone together at one time to celebrate 🥳 🎉 🎊 🍾

    • Yes, that would be fun having everyone together like that. With my siblings, we were scattered throughout the year! Now, with Muffin and I, it’s the same thing, half a year apart. It’s almost completely clear and sunny now, even the smoke has almost gone. Nice!🙃

    • Very smoky again today, the sun is trying to shine a little bit, it’s about 83 right now but not as humid today. Potted all my cuttings yesterday and they are still alive today, so far so good.😂🙃🪴

  33. Hey, that’s great! I still don’t understand how they do that, but then again, I don’t know how salamanders regrow their tails either, but it happens!🙃 It is humind here today also, I’ve sweating like a race horse today working on the car.🥵

    • Well, I took photos and I will write about it if they survive. If they die, then I won’t write about it. But they sure had good bunches of roots and a couple were even growing pups already. Pups are new plants growing from the cutting. Maybe you should drive slower while you work, then you wouldn’t sweat so much.😂😃

    • Good thinking! I’m calling it a day, I have fallen asleep 3 times this evening so far, so, time for bed I guess. Talk again tomorrow! Spend some extra time on the lake for me too, I’ll have to settle for dreaming about it for now.🙃zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    • Vacuuming the hall and living room, plus general cleanup in the living room and a little dusting too. My cuttings are still alive this morning, that’s a good sign.

    • You should take it easy today, lie in the sun for a while, no working on the car today and stay away from the boat. Relax for a while. Hope that headache doesn’t last too long, they can be bad.

    • Yep, I’m formulating the whole plan in my brain at the moment so that I can execute everything at the correct timing so I don’t disturb Muffin. That means I will be vacuuming the bedroom and hallway today. Right about now actually.

    • Oddly enough our power is still on, but the tornado is west of town so that is why. This is the first time I got a tornado alert on my phone, which means it was fairly close. But seems it didn’t hit a populated area, which is good.

    • Yep, and the warning has been lifted now too. Even the severe thunderstorm warning has been lifted. There’s actually quite a bit of blue sky showing now. That changed fast.

  46. It’s supposed to get hot and humid here starting tomorrow thru the weekend. I’ll tell now so I don’t forget. I have an appointment for tomorrow midday with a doctor, so I won’t be awake and able to chat until mid to later afternoon.

    • Yeah, here too, but cooling off starting on Sunday and into next week. Don’t forget to tell your doctor everything, don’t hold back like some people do. It sure has gotten humid here the past 3 hours.

  47. Yeah, it’s just a plumbing check. They want to make sure no tree roots are growing into the secret pipes. Yeah, I thought the real hot weather was past. I guess not.

    • Good morning Dusty! How’d the appointment go? Hot down there? Somewhere around 85 up here and the humidity is terrible! But it was a nice sunny day. Wish I had known yesterday, then I could have made some plans for today. Now it’s supposed to be cloudy for the next 5 days. Sigh.🙄

  48. The appt when good. Took one sample to biopsy, but they said it looked benign, but they would send it to the lab for confirmation. Yes! It was very warm and very humid here today as well. It was kind of partly sunny, though. They say a chance of rain here for the next few day’s I guess. I’m still a bit sleepy from the medication they used during the procedure and from getting up at 4 am. to get ready for it. It will be an early night tonight for me.
    How are the plants doing? Still growing their feeler roots?

    • Their still alive, and yes, they are in soil now, that’s what I put them in the other day. There is one leaf that seems to be fading a bit though, but hopefully it will survive long enough for a new plant to grow.
