The Investigators, Inc. The Year End Case. Chapter 5. The Bait.

“We will use that woman Kristina captured at the chateau,” said Mandar, “we will get nothing important from her anyway.” “Is that wise?” asked Kristina. “Well, it is the best thing at the moment,” he replied, “tomorrow we will let her go and hopefully she will lead us to Lavina.” “We can put a transmitter on her,” said Sky. “Yes, that will be good,” said Mandar, “and one of my men has already “fixed” her phone.

She will likely call Lavina and that just might be enough to tell us where she is. But we will need to get that phone back quickly before Lavina’s people get it. I rather think that Lavina just might have the woman killed, but we will be waiting close by, in case she tries that. Now, we all need some sleep.” Right then Chung came out. “I have something here for all of you, to help relax you,” he said. “Must we?” asked Sky.

“Yes, you listen to your doctor, you need sleep,” said Chung. “He is right dear ladies, we must stay alert to fight Lavina,” said Mandar. So off they all went to bed and Mandar had his men all around that clinic, outside and inside. He also had his men wearing clothes in the same color as Baldwin’s security people, though without the insignia, but it should be enough so Lavina will not discover that Mandar is helping us.

Remember that Avina was married to Mandar, though Lavina is not his daughter. But he knows her well. Soon MC and Storm were waking the girls by patting their noses with their paws. Muffin was still sleeping with me, the kittens curled up beside her. “Okay, I think we are awake now,” said Kristina. “Yep, that goes for me too,” said Sky. The girls quickly jumped out of bed when they saw it was already 10am.

They were soon in the kitchen where Mandar had just sat down for his breakfast of pancakes and bacon. He had brought his own cook along too. “You let us sleep rather late,” said Sky. “Oh, not at all,” he said, “Lavina does not rise early, she is like her mother that way. Letting that woman go around noon will be soon enough.” MC went to get Muffin and the kittens to come for breakfast as well. Everyone ate heartily, feeling better after getting that much needed sleep.

Then they went to make some plans. “Now, my men will take that woman into town and let her go,” said Mandar, “then they will leave. But you and Kristina, plus 2 of my men, will get there first and park down the street. You will take one of our rental cars so it will not be recognized. That is why I kept them parked at the rear of the clinic, out of sight.

We also need to remember something, Lavina cannot be detained, that will not stop her, even in prison she can work, if she makes it that far. Like her mother, she must be stopped, permanently. Do you understand that?” “Yes,” said Sky, “Kristina and I were talking about that and we agree with you.” Sky, Kristina, Gerald and Stewart went on ahead as planned and parked down the street.

Soon the other car came along and let the woman go free, then they turned around and left. Kristina could see easily that the woman was using her phone. “Lavina, we had some problems, the other 2 girls are dead,” she said. “Why did they let you go?” asked Lavina. “They knew that they could not get anything from me, though they sure tried,” she said. “Well, just wait on the street,” said Lavina, “I will have my men pick you up.”

Soon a car came along heading toward the woman. Sky started driving slowly up the street. The other car stopped and 2 men jumped out and shot the woman. Sky was driving fast now and came to a screeching stop behind the other car. Gerald and Stewart jumped out and began shooting with their automatic weapons, killing the two men outside and the driver of the car. Stewart ran and picked up the phone and soon they were driving at top speed back to the clinic.

“Give the phone to Chuck,” said Mandar, “he will check it out.” A little while later he came to Mandar. “She is in Paris, at this hotel,” said Chuck. “Very good, we must move fast now,” said Mandar. “I am ready,” said Sky. “No my dear Sky, you will not come this time,” said Mandar, “Steve needs you very much right now, he needs to know you are okay and with him. That will make him fight harder.

That is more important than coming along. Kristina will come though, and Storm too, he can be a big help to us.” Meow, meow.=Snow just tell me that Rock and Annelie go to some place called Dizzy Moons in Iwah. “She means Iowa, and that would be Des Moines,” said Sky excitedly. Mandar called Phillip and told him.

“Only one name like that in Des Moines,” he said. “Good, try it until someone answers,” said Mandar, “then switch the call to Sky.” Then Mandar, Kristina, Storm and several of the men went on their way to Paris. Sky wanted to go, but she knew Mandar was right and she came into the room with me.

Midweek Coffee. #32

Good morning on this much milder Wednesday! It was 17F (-8C) this morning and it is still cloudy, like it has been most of the last 2 weeks. We have barely seen the sun just a couple of times in those 2 weeks, and the clouds are going to stay with us for a while yet. But the sun still shines. We just cannot see it. But I must admit, all of this cloudiness does affect me a bit. It seems to zap my energy into nothing after a while.

The birds have been busy this morning, though right now there does not seem to be any birds out there. They will be back again. And now the windows are no longer frosted like they were, so I can actually see the birds again without going outside. That part is certainly nice. I was out at 8am feeding the birds. There were no birds around, it was just barely beginning to get some daylight out there.

It was nearly 8:30 before the birds showed up for their breakfast. It is nice the days are getting longer now. I think we have gained about 10 minutes so far. It is nice having the blue jays back again, there were at least 6 of them this morning. Muffin is sleeping. I think the cloudy days affect her too, she does not play much these days. I planted a new pot of oatgrass for Muffin. It is tall enough now that I can let her start eating it.

Baxter the Blue Jay in the early fall.

She can mow it down short quite quickly. She loves it. And she is at it, munching away, several times a day. It is good for cats, they need their greens. I dropped a piece of broccoli on the floor the other day. Muffin heard it land on the floor and came to inspect it. She grabbed it and off she ran with it. She ate most of that piece, and it was quite a big piece too. She just left a bit of the stem. She also likes lettuce and cabbage.

She has eaten carrots too, but she only wants small pieces of them. She also likes mint tea, but only after it is cold. Mint tea is good cold, especially on a hot day. Hot days. Such a wonderful thought. We do not get many of those. This is the last Wednesday of 2022. Just 3 more days left in this year, then a new year begins. I have many things to do before the end of the year. Some might get done, but not everything.

That is okay though, then I will have some projects to begin the new year. That is a great way to begin the new year. Sharing some more “looking at you” pictures today. The top featured image is one from down at the river, the first week of January, 2020. It really did not look much like winter that year. But it was nice. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
