The Investigators, Inc. Mystery of Avina. Chapter 20. Nowhere or Somewhere.

I decided to call Galyna into the room as well and we all talked about this new drug, what might happen if things go wrong and should I even take a chance with it. Galyna reminded me that we have a lot of documentation now showing who I am, that I am married to Kat, pictures with all the team members, everything about our PI business, plus lots of video time with me talking to everyone, birthday parties, where we live, so much to help me know who I am, even if I do not remember who I am.

These things will still help me know that I have a past and present. So everyone left except Kat, Muffin, Chung and Doc, as we all like to call him. Doc told Chung to go around to the other side of the bed to monitor things while he gave me the shot. Kat sat down on a chair, Muffin was on the bed with me. Doc told Muffin to go over with Kat. I said Muffin stays on the bed.

That is when Doc produced a gun and told the others to stand over against the far wall. He did not know that Muffin had an alarm buzzer and she pressed it right away. The others were in the lunch room, except Rock who was standing in the hall. Everyone gets the alarm call from Muffin. “Steve is down!”, screamed Jenny and everyone ran! But Rock pounded the door open and was in so fast.

Doc turned to shoot but Rock had his hand in his own big hand squeezing hard. Then he broke Doc’s arm and smashed him against the wall. He then picked him up and threw him on the floor, hard! At that point the others arrived and dragged Doc out of the room. Doc had just started to give me the shot and Chung removed the needle and ran off to find out what it was.

Dr. Mriya came in to watch me. It did not take Chung long to find out what I had been given and was working on something to counteract it. Meanwhile I drifted into a kind of sleep, though it did not really feel like I was sleeping. I was with Muffin when one day I came to her and said, “Muffin, I know what we need to do, start our own business so we can make some money.”

Meow, meow.=Oh, good idea, this no food diet not good, I getting skinny. “Um, yes, well, I have lost a bit of weight too I guess,” said I. Meow, meow.=You lose more weight and maybe you not be able to stand up. “It is not that bad Muffin,” I said, rolling my eyes, “however, I do have great idea.” Meow, meow.=Hope it better than last one, we almost get arrested breaking into old lady house.

“Um, right, we had the wrong house, that is all,” I said, “but this one is good, we will start our own PI business, you know, solve mysteries, find treasures, that sort of thing. Best of all we get paid for doing it. We will have fun and make money.” Meow, meow.=Oh, me like that idea, if it work, especially money part so we can eat. Not have much furniture left to sell.

“Um, yes, that is true, and sleeping on the floor is kind of hard,” I admitted. Everything went fuzzy, we saw a ghost lady and found gold dishes on our first job. We met a man named John who wanted to kill us. We got locked in the dungeon of some kind of castle on an island. Muffin had a slingshot. We met a woman named Jessica, she was so nice. But she was killed by someone.

I went through a lot of our old cases like that, some were clear, some were mixed up. “Lay on top of Steve,” Mriya said to Muffin, “and purr loud.” She did so right away. MC and Storm lay on either side of me and purred also. I met a woman named Katherina, she vowed to kill me. That went over and over again in my head. I began to get very tense, clenching my fists. I then yelled out loud, “NO! That is not right!”

I was sweating terribly now and opened my eyes. Kat smiled at me. About half and hour had gone by and Chung came in shortly after I woke up and gave me his medicine. Later that day I was feeling much better and the next day I went home. It feels so much better to be at home. And what is this? A letter from a couple in Canada asking us to help them. Sounds like a more relaxing type case this time…

The End.

But join us Monday for a whole new case called, The Northern Mystery.

Coffee For Friday. #14 Nature Fun.

Good morning and Happy Friday everyone! It is a beautiful, sunny morning today. It was cloudy earlier but the clouds moved away allowing the brilliant sunshine to flood our surroundings once more. It is an odd morning though. The last 2 mornings the chipmunks were so busy out here, but this morning only one chipmunk came and he was only here once.

Hard to believe that I could put out food for them and 3 hours later it is still there. I went out with more peanuts and discovered that none were missing yet. Some of the sunflower seeds were missing from one of the piles I put out each morning, but that was all. Baxter was here but he only took one peanut and left again. The chickadees, goldfinches and evening grosbeaks have not been here either.

Mother mallard and her 2 babies.

A very strange morning. I mean, every other morning this week has been busy with birds, chipmunks or both. I have not even seen the hummingbirds this morning. How can everything stay away on the same morning? What has suddenly changed? I have no idea. But it sure is quiet out there. Sir George and Lady Pearl were here for breakfast, they are the only gulls left it seems.

The crows came around too, but I would prefer they did not. They scare the smaller birds away. But that is not the problem for this morning. When I walked to the river last week I met this little family of mallard ducks. I showed them in the “looking at you” post. I am showing them again today. It almost looks like the mother is trying to show off for the camera.

White-throated sparrow chirping at me for being too close to his family.

Then when my friend and I went for our day trip to some small lakes 2 weeks ago, at one lake there was a family of white-throated sparrows. I got a bit too close so the parents were chirping loudly, wanting me to leave. I am showing one parent here today as well. The last picture is a cuckoo wasp. They are generally a metallic green, but can also be blue, this one shows green and blue.

They look similar to a type of bee, often called sweat bees, which can also be metallic green, or blue, or brown. Both the wasps and bees are common around here right now. I have had the sweat bees crawling around on my arm and hand, and even sit right on my camera.

The cuckoo wasp has also been on my arm. The are small, about 3/8 inch (9mm) long. But they can sting. I have been stung by the bees anyway. Now I just leave them alone, that way they will not sting me if they are on my arm. I never knew that we have blue bees here, that is quite interesting. Yes, I do have a photo that I will show soon. Well, have a wonderful Friday everyone and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.
