For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! Time for a cup of coffee and a bit of relaxation. It is a beautiful, sunny morning here today, although there is a few little clouds still in the east, but nothing serious. The chipmunks, squirrels and grackles are busy out here this morning, everyone wanting their share of the peanuts. I have noticed something interesting though, that is, the squirrels seldom come by themselves.

If one shows up, then another shows up at the same time, and sometimes, like this morning, all 3 of them show up! That naturally makes things a bit noisy out there with all the “arguing” taking place, plus the odd bit of actual fighting as well. And all 3 were here this morning so it was especially noisy. Oddly, they all left at the same time as well.
Whenever the squirrels were chasing each other one of the grackles or one of the chipmunks, would quickly come in and grab a peanut and run off with it. One grackle, the biggest of the group, had taken a peanut and gone off to the side and broke it open. He had just broken it open and a chipmunk came running across the deck scaring the grackle and the chipmunk stopped and picked up the contents of the peanut and off he went.

The grackle just looked at the spot for a moment before coming to get another peanut, which was not so easy with the 3 squirrels running around. But he tried and almost did it, but a chipmunk came which scared the grackle. The chipmunk got 2 peanuts before Jasmine, the squirrel, got back and chased him away. She then proceeded to scare away all chipmunks and grackles she could see.
The big grackle finally did get his peanut and flew off with it. Plus, while Jasmine was chasing one chipmunk another one would come and grab a peanut or two and be off just as she was coming back. This kept on until the peanuts were gone and Jasmine was left with nothing. She looked up at the door so I handed her a nice big peanut.

Now if she would learn to share with the chipmunks, like Jasper learned to do, she would get enough peanuts too. Being greedy can lead to getting nothing at all. Oh well, she might learn eventually. Looks like a few more clouds showing up again. Time to see about some more pictures while the sun is still shining. Have a great day everyone and God bless!

Good Monday morning to all of you! Happy Independence Day to my American readers!! It is a nice Monday morning. Well, I think it is anyway. Of course it would depend on a persons idea of “nice”. For some nice could mean winter with 5 feet of snow on the ground. Kind of a nightmare scenario. For others nice could mean a gentle summer rain. That one is not so bad. Others might consider heavy rain with thunder and lightning to be nice.
Not my choice, but I am kind of strange. Others might think that sunny and calm is nice. Now we are talking. Speaking of talking. I was very tired on Friday night. Okay, I usually am tired at night. It is kind of a strange phenomenon I know, but as I said previously, I am kind of strange. But I digress. Anyway, I get to bed and 15 minutes later, after falling asleep, I hear Muffin calling from the living room.

What? What? Is something wrong? Oh wait, that is her, “hey, I just caught a mouse” meow. This was followed by a bunch of loud crashing and things falling! Sigh. I am glad she catches the mice that come in, but that was a bit loud. Now I am wide awake again. And I have to go see what has happened, in case Muffin hurt herself. I also need to get rid of the mouse before Muffin gets the weird idea that this thing is a nice midnight snack.

So I get out of bed and walk into the dresser…forgot, the door is that way. So I go through the door and Muffin comes running over meowing excitedly swirling around my legs and takes me over to the mouse. Good, it is dead this time. I bend over to grab the tail and the thing squeaks, jumps and runs off. Muffin was right behind it but the mouse ran under my recliner. Muffin cannot get under that.
Meanwhile I am recovering from this frightening experience. I am not scared of mice, I just thought it was dead so when it jumped, so did I. Just kind of natural when something happens that is not supposed to happen but does happen anyway. Hmm, anyway, I could see this was going to take a while so I decide to find out what went crashing and smashing. I look all over. Not even the tiniest thing was out of place.

I know that is impossible, however, that is the way it was. I was happy about that on one hand, but curious that they could make so much noise without causing any damage or even anything falling or moving out of place. Back to bed for me, but sleep does not come along too quickly since I am still trying to figure out this puzzle of nothing moving out of place. Plus I know that as soon as I fall asleep Muffin will catch the mouse again and I will be getting up again.

It was not quite that way, it took nearly a whole hour and that familiar meowing was heard once more. I got up. Mouse was on floor. Muffin went over to show me it was dead this time…and it ran away again. I banged my head on the door and went back to bed. The rest of the night was quiet. But that did not stop me from waking up every hour expecting to hear more meowing. Sigh. Oh, the mouse got safely away. Thank you all for reading this morning, have a great day and God bless!
