Hello once again!
Here we are with another installment of our beautiful nature! Today we have something I have never shown on here before, these are seed cones from an “Alder bush”. It is interesting that a deciduous bush has cones that look like miniature pine cones. They are usually around half an inch (1.25cm) in length, but can be a bit longer. These are covered with a bit of sap from the bush. Alder bushes here do not get very large, anywhere from about 6 to 10 feet (about 2 to 3 meters) tall. I enjoy their little seed cones though. The Beauty of Flowers. #5
Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday!
Another beautiful day and a bright and beautiful flower to enjoy for today as well. This is one of our native wildflowers called “Common Evening Primrose”. They bloom on plants that are up to 6 feet tall, this one was about 4 feet tall (about 120cm), the flowers can be anywhere from 1 to 2 inches (2.5 to 5cm) across.
This one is not quite fully open and is just over 1 inch across. They are common along roads, railroads, edges of woods and streams. They can grow in very dry and poor soil, in sun or part shade. They bloom in our area from July to September. Have a great Sunday everyone and God bless!
