Musings For Monday. #10

Good morning to everyone! And a very big Happy Monday as well! It is early again today. And dark still. Much like yesterday really. We did get another 2 inches (5cm) of snow yesterday. But it was the light fluffy kind of snow, easy to sweep away with the broom. Muffin and I are up a little earlier than normal today. But that is okay, I want to start my summer schedule anyway, which means getting up no later than 5am.

Red-breasted nuthatch.

It was nice yesterday, even though cloudy. I think the sun came out a few times in the afternoon. This morning it looks like it is clear. At least out in the east where daylight is beginning to show quite a bit now. The days keep getting longer, which is so nice. The days are so short in the winter. But summer makes up for it. Even though it has been a rather tough winter, it has still gone by quite quickly. Although it is not over with yet. We are getting some mild weather here for a few days, but on Wednesday it will be back to colder weather again for at least a week. Much colder than normal once again. Oh well.

Spring will arrive eventually. Jasper came around once yesterday, that I noticed, but he did not stay long. He ate some sunflower seeds, then came down and took a peanut and off he went. There were a lot of evening grosbeaks again yesterday. And they stayed around for a long time too. Plus lots of redpolls, chickadees and nuthatches. Oh, and the blue jays and woodpeckers too. And the crows. But they were only here for a short time in the morning.

Male downy woodpecker.

The birds are much more perky these days, now that it is milder. I can actually see their legs and feet now. And the little nuthatches do not have to keep stopping to warm their feet while eating. I am sure they like this weather better than that bitter cold. Just like me. Or perhaps I am just imagining it. Oh well. Just a short post this morning. This is my morning to go shopping, and I go early. Though not quite this early, but soon. Have a great Monday everyone, thanks for stopping by and God bless!

Grover’s Grins And Groans. #6

Hello everyone! Here we are, beginning a new week and a great way to begin is with a laugh or two. Even a groan works quite well, that way other things look better! Anyway, here we are with this week’s selection from Grover. Enjoy!

==================

Hmmm … I just found a strange piece of plastic on the floor that looks like it broke off of something, but I have no idea what. Better save it in the junk drawer until I die.

=============

Two friends are talking over lunch in an outdoor patio.

“So what are you doing for summer vacation?” one asks.

The other one replies, “I want to go to Italy again, like last year.”

The first asks, “Wow! You went to Italy last year?”

The other answers, “No, but I wanted to.”

==============

Losing weight doesn’t seem to be working for me, so from now I’m going to concentrate on getting taller.

=============

My train of thought sometimes leaves the station without me.

=============

Little Susie came home from school whining, “Mommy, I’ve got a stomachache.”

“That’s because your stomach is empty,” her mother replied. “You’d feel better if you had something in it.”

She gave Susie a snack and, sure enough, Susie felt better right away.

That evening when Daddy came home, he said he had a bad headache.

Susie perked up. “That’s because it’s empty,” she said. “You’d feel better if you had something in it.”

=============

Sleeping comes so naturally to me, I could do it with my eyes closed.

=============

Well, that is all for today. I hope you all have a marvelous Monday and God bless!

Steve, Muffin and Grover.
