Steve And Muffin’s Monday Smiles! #15

Hi everyone and welcome back to a few more smiles and chuckles to begin your week. Feel free to enjoy them!

============

On a visit to Boston, I noticed a parking meter with a paper sack over it upon which was written: “Broken.”

A skeptical parking officer removed the bag, inserted a quarter in the meter and turned the dial. It worked perfectly. As the officer began to write a parking ticket, the car’s owner rushed out of a nearby building.

“What are you doing?” he yelled after a quick glance at the meter. “There’s plenty of time left!”

Losing weight doesn’t seem to be working for me, so from now I’m going to concentrate on getting taller.

WHAT AN ENGINEER SAYS (AND WHAT IT MEANS)

A number of different approaches are being tried. (We are still grasping at straws.)

We’re working on a fresh approach to the problem. (We just hired three kids fresh out of college.)

Major technological breakthrough. (It works OK, but looks very hi-tech.)

Customer satisfaction upon delivery is assured. (We are so far behind schedule the customer is happy to get it delivered.)

Preliminary operational tests were inconclusive. (The thing blew up when we threw the switch.)

Test results were extremely gratifying. (We are so surprised that the thing works.)

The entire concept will have to be abandoned. (The only person who understood the thing quit.)

It is in process. (It is so wrapped up in red tape that the situation is about hopeless.)

We’ll look into it. (Forget it! We have enough problems for now.)

Give us the benefit of your thoughts. (We’ll listen to what you have to say as long as it doesn’t interfere with what we’ve already done.)

Give us your interpretation. (I can’t wait to hear this!)

Low maintenance. (Impossible to fix if broken.)

================

Your secret’s safe with me. I wasn’t even listening.

Have a great day and God bless!

Sunday’s Sunshine! #35

Good morning and Happy Sunday everyone! It was certainly windy overnight, though it stopped at some point. We were supposed to get some snow too, but it never arrived. We should be getting some more snow tonight, maybe another 2 inches. It is 19F (-7C) this morning, so it’s a nice morning for this time of the year. When I went to bring in the feeders yesterday afternoon, Chester was still out there with a couple friends this time.

Nice, bright and sunshiny flowers, though I forget the name.

But soon he was by himself again and he stayed until it was nearly dark. I was beginning to wonder when he would leave. I have never seen a chickadee stay that late before. That’s kind of dangerous, shrikes like to stay out late too, and that would make Chester an easy meal. Anyway, he went off to bed finally so I could bring the feeders inside. After he left it started to rain lightly, just a drizzle really, but it was quite noticeable. So I will have to be careful going outside to feed the birds this morning, it just might be a bit slippery out on the deck.

It’s still early and quite dark so no birds are around yet. A lot of evening grosbeaks finally showed up yesterday around noon. They ate all the seeds on the platform feeders quite quickly so I went out with more for them. They all flew away and never returned. Amazing. Well, there was half a dozen that returned, but the bigger flock did not. But grosbeaks can be that way sometimes, very unpredictable.

A beautiful bright red petunia.

Muffin woke me up at midnight for her snack. Sitting there with those big eyes, pretending that she is starving. I open one eye and immediately she starts purring. Up I get and off to the kitchen, Muffin leading the way happily. I could barely keep my eyes open. Which is probably why I bumped into the fridge. And then walked into the door frame of my bedroom door as I was heading back to bed. It is a good way to wake up, except I did not want to wake up, I wanted to go back to sleep. Oh well. Have a wonderful Sunday everyone and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.
