Hi everyone! Today’s wildflower is an easy one to miss due to it’s small size, though they are bright. Here it’s generally called the “bristly buttercup” due to it’s very bristly hairs on the leaves and stems. In the US it is more commonly called the “Pennsylvania buttercup”. It is a native wildflower that enjoys sunny and partially shady areas. They will grow in wet fields, marshes, along shores of rivers, streams and lakes, and even in ditches. They will grow from 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90cm) tall and bloom from June to August. The bright yellow flowers are only 1/8 to 1/4 inch (3 to 6mm) across. They are definitely not very showy like most buttercups. They are a common wetland wildflower that can be found right across Canada and the northern half of the US, but also going south through Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.
