For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! Wow, I was up so early this morning and yet I’m late getting my post out today. Amazing how that works. But there has been a lot to do this morning, plus I think I was spending more time than usual watching all the activity outside. There are a lot of those evening grosbeaks out there again, at least 80 of them and maybe more. They are constantly taking turns at the feeder since it only holds about 20 birds at a time. Plus the hanging feeder can hold another 5 and the squirrel feeder another five or six.

Like most finches, they are nervous eaters, so it doesn’t take much to scare them away and there is this huge cloud of birds taking off through the trees at an amazing speed. But they are back again in a few minutes. It does give me some time to refill the feeders before they return, so it’s handy. Still a lot of juncos and some fox sparrows around. Some sparrows are going to be very late if they don’t show up soon. They are already later than normal. Kind of odd considering we had an early spring with the snow gone extra early this year.

But then that cold weather returned and stopped the migration. That means when it starts up again, the birds will be moving through fast this year which doesn’t give me much time for pics. So hopefully the days will be sunny when that migration begins again. We did get some purple finches arrive on our lone warm day, at least two males and a female. And those males are such a bright red, but I haven’t been able to get a pic yet. Maybe this morning, which is almost over now. By the time I sat down to do my post, I didn’t have an internet connection again.

That is happening a lot lately. So off I went to do something else which ended up taking longer than I expected, which is kind of normal for me, and when I came back it was working again. I hope it stays that way now. It is a beautiful sunny morning, but cool, we might get into the low 40s today. I should probably try and get some pics of those beautiful red male purple finches, before they fly away. I hope you all have a spectacular Saturday and God bless!

Hello everyone! Sorry for not having my bird of the day post today, but instead I will share some more funnies from my collection. Go ahead and groan, smile, chuckle or roar with laughter:
I asked my daughter to give me the phone book.
She laughed at me, called me a dinosaur, and lent me her iPhone.
So, the spider is dead, the iPhone is broken, and my daughter is furious.

A man called his neighbor to help move a couch that was stuck in the doorway.
They got on either end of the couch and struggled until they were exhausted, but the couch wouldn’t budge.
“Forget it,” the man finally gasped. “We’ll never get this in.”
A frustrated voice came from the other end of the couch: “IN?!?!”

A 6th grade teacher posed the following problem to one of her arithmetic classes:
“A wealthy man dies and leaves ten million dollars. One-fifth is to go to his wife, one-fifth is to go to his son, one-sixth to his butler, and the rest to charity. Now, what does each get?”
After a very long silence in the classroom, one little boy raised his hand and with complete sincerity in his voice, answered, “A lawyer!”
