For a smile as wide as a country sunrise

I say there now, Mr. Cat,
Why you sitting there like that?
You just looking much too sad,
Hope you not been feeling bad.
Oh Muffin, I not feel bad,
But it’s cold, that why I’m sad.
When like this, I stay inside,
No one to play, run and hide.
That why I come, Mr. Cat,
Look right there! Let’s race to that!
And there they go, run and slide,
Bonking heads, they laugh and hide.
Then they go and run and play
Games of tag throughout the day!
Oh, we really have some fun,
And together, zoom, they run!
They try to turn down the hall
And both the cats hit the wall!
Then they lie down on a rug,
Curled up tight, they give a hug.
Mr. Cat says, what a day!
We have such fun when we play.
Muffin adds, yep, that so true!
It just right, with me and you.
Purr, purr.

Hello everyone and welcome back to another look at my journal! It has been a long time since the last post from my journal so I decided to get back at it today. I hope you are all doing well today and ready to see what we have for us. Please sit back and relax and we will open the journal to take a look…
Here we are, almost the end of another year and it’s cold. Very cold. Too cold. I’m already looking forward to spring, and it’s not even January yet. It’s still a long way to spring. About 4 months actually, unless we have an early spring which would be nice. Each year I usually get “cabin fever” in January. It’s actually a medically recognized illness. Now they usually call it SAD, “Seasonal Affective Disorder”. Basically it has to do with our short days and long nights and spending too much time indoors. Of course this year a lot of people have been spending a lot of time indoors. Good practice for “cabin fever” perhaps. To be honest, it really doesn’t bother me much, except by mid January I get “itchy feet”. Not itchy, but “itchy”. There’s a difference.

“Itchy” means I want to make something, because I enjoy making things. But that is usually reserved for summer since I normally want to make something with wood. That’s a bit difficult to do indoors in a small apartment. Makes a big mess. So this winter I plan to try something else, but for now that’s a secret. Muffin was at the window looking outside. Then she looked over at me. I knew what she was thinking. So we had a brief conversation. Meow, meow=I want window open. “It’s too cold to have the window open, I want to turn the heat up,” I said. Meow, meow=No, not want heat, want window open. “No, it’s too cold, no open window until spring,” I continued.

Meow, meow=Put on more clothes and open window, fresh air is good. “It’s still too cold for fresh air, and I have an extra sweater on now,” I said. Meow, meow=You have more clothes, put them on and open window for fresh air. “I’m not putting on more clothes, I won’t be able to move,” I told her. Meow, meow=Don’t need to move, just sit and play with box thing. “It’s called a laptop and it’s too uncomfortable to wear that many clothes,” I said again. She looked at my feet. I put on my slippers. She wrapped herself around my leg. “Just remember, if you bite I might fall and break all my arms and I won’t be able to feed you,” I reminded her. Meow, meow=What you waiting for? Turn up heat and bring out food!

I wonder if it’s possible that I spend too much time indoors with Muffin? One look provides an entire conversation that doesn’t even happen. Quite amazing really. Still, it can be fun. Next time things will be different, I promise, but sometimes I like to go a little crazy. It can be fun. But next time…I can bear-ly wait for it! Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.
