Daily Pics #209.

Good morning everyone and welcome back to Daily Pics! I am super late this morning. I have been on the go since 7 am and I think my energy level is done for the day. It was such a beautiful morning once again, though definitely on the cool side. But the sun was shining so nicely, the sky was so blue and it was starting to warm up as well. So nice. There was no bird activity until about 5:30 am today, Sir George and Lady Pearl showed up first with the crows right behind them. There was a few birds singing including one that I just couldn’t identify so I will have to check on that one later. The chipmunks showed up after 6 though I haven’t seen Pocket yet, but since I haven’t been at home I probably just missed him. The chipmunks are certainly busy right now, Skamper and Chester having a slight discussion on who is top chipmunk around here. Pocket would settle that in a hurry if he was here right now, he is definitely the top chipmunk in this territory. Poor Coffee is at the bottom of the list right now, but wait until next year, then he’ll be ready to join in the discussions.

Well, today we have a couple of wildflowers for you to enjoy, the top featured image is the “meadowsweet”. This is a member of the rose family and is often found in damp areas and around the shores of lakes and rivers.

And in the photo above is the common “tall buttercup”, a beautiful, bright and cheerful flower to have around. These can be found just about anywhere that isn’t too dry. That’s it for our pics for today, I hope you all have a marvelous Monday and God bless!

Daily Pics #208.

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday! It is such a beautiful summer morning, very fresh smelling after getting another huge thunderstorm overnight. But at least it was just one storm, not a series of storms like the night before. But it was another loud one, shaking this apartment constantly with it’s loud booms, bangs and crashes. I think I said that yesterday too. But this morning it is sunny, a little cooler but still very nice, the sky is such a brilliant blue, it’s just a fabulous morning. A great morning to sit on the deck with my coffee and…get wet. Everything is wet out there this morning, including my bench. Oh well, minor detail. The chipmunks are busy running back and forth picking up their peanuts, the new squirrel is here too getting his share. Amazingly so far the squirrel and chipmunks have not met this morning. I think the chipmunks are watching this new squirrel carefully so they can time their trips safely.

I haven’t seen Runner now for 3 days, not good, seems something must have happened to him. There’s a lot of traffic on our street now with all the cottagers back in town. That’s not good for squirrels or chipmunks. Fortunately none of my chipmunks this year cross that street. Runner never did either that I know of, but maybe he decided to check it out one day. So, without Runner, this new squirrel decided to move in. Likely this is the squirrel that Runner was fighting all spring, each trying to win this territory, and Runner finally did it. Jasper just slips in and out when he can. He even gets along with the chipmunks and won’t waste time chasing them. Smart squirrel.

Well, for our pics today, the top featured image is some kind of weird looking cactus from my landlord’s collection. She leaves it on the deck in summer, otherwise it’s indoors.

Then in the above picture is an “orchid cactus” from my landlord’s collection of plants. She keeps this one on the deck in the summer as well and brings it inside in early fall until next summer. That flower is huge, 6 inches (15cm) across and the cactus is not very big. That’s all for our pics today, I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and God bless!
