For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! Thank you all for the many birthday greetings yesterday! Muffin and I had a great time! I even got some pics yesterday that I have been trying to get for 2 years. Plus I got to see 2 very young fawns, only about a week old! Unfortunately I was unable to get a pic of them, someone came along just then and scared them away. But it was so nice to see anyway, a definite highlight to the day. And this morning is absolutely beautiful with a brilliant blue sky and sunshine! Plus it is going to be a nice warm day, with a high of around 80F (26C). Right now the robin and numerous other birds are singing so nicely, enjoying the warm sunny morning.
There was a low point yesterday though. When I went to download my pics for the day onto my laptop, I popped the SD card into it’s slot and…nothing happened. I went to open my photo program to import the pics and…nothing, no photo program existed. It was gone. Apparently my antivirus grabbed it for some reason and deleted it. Totally. That wasn’t nice. There is another photo program that came with the laptop, but it’s not very good, but I decided to use it. But it just kept saying there was nothing on the SD card. I lost all those pics?! Why do these strange things happen to me? I’m glad all my other pics are backed up anyway. I liked my old photo program because it worked without an internet connection and we lose our internet up here a lot. When that happens I like to work on my photos. Sigh. So I had to download another program temporarily and then I could retrieve the pics on my SD card which the other program said didn’t exist. At least I didn’t lose my pics. The top pic today is a peony bud just beginning to open.

In the pic above is a beautifully colored peony of a different shape, sort of like a bowl about 5 inches (12.5cm) across.

Then in this last pic above is another peony that is a similar, but lighter color and it is another huge one, about 5 inches (12.5cm) across and sticking upward the same size. Peonies are such beautiful and quite large flowers. Thank you for stopping by again today to check out my pics for the day! I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and God bless!

Hello once again everyone! Welcome back to another fun time together with some coffee, or tea, hot chocolate, iced tea, herbal tea, we have something for everyone! At least I hope we do, and there is lots of baked goodies today as well, including a maple cake made especially for my birthday today by Muffin! Okay, she did have a little help, but she did sample it after it was baked to make sure it was just the way she wanted it to be. And she was very satisfied with the result too. Don’t worry, she didn’t touch the cake, I made a couple of cupcakes also for Muffin and Mr. Cat. Muffin was so amazingly happy that Mr. Cat could join us today as well.

Yes, it is my birthday today, though sometimes I hate to admit it! Generally I figure it’s a good time to run and hide and maybe it will go away. Doesn’t work though, I still get older anyway. Oh well, just one of those things, so why not celebrate a bit then? And a good spot is right here in a small park that we didn’t get a chance to visit last year, so I thought this would be a good time to check it out. It is right on the lake and has a nice small beach, it is really a great spot for kids to enjoy a nice swim. But adults can too, though the water might still be a bit cool, except right close to shore. Please just help yourself to more coffee and all these delicious treats that have been brought along today.

There are picnic tables here for us to use and a number of benches, though some seem to be leaning forward just a bit. And there is a nice grassy area to lie down and enjoy the sun, plus there are some benches over there in the shade to use as well. It is such beautiful scenery as we look out onto the lake. Those are all islands you see out there, of varying sizes. Just a small number of the more than 14,500 islands on this lake. It is really quite beautiful to go on a tour around those islands, and you won’t find many of them up closer this way that don’t have cottages on them.

There is a few lazy type clouds slowly floating about in the sky above us, but mostly the sky is blue and the sun shining so brightly. And over here along the edge of the park, a nice “maiden pink”, I really like these little flowers, they can survive and thrive in some tough areas. Oh, and over here in the shade is a “bunchberry” flower, they generally like more shaded areas but will sometimes grow in sunnier spots as well. And over here is a nice ripe wild strawberry! Looks like Muffin and Mr. Cat want me to have that one for my birthday. Mmm, it is so delicious! Thank you all so very much for coming today on my birthday, it has made this coffee time an extra special event!! I hope you all have a very wonderful day and God bless!
