A field of wildflowers in Italy.

Good morning everyone, and Happy Friday as well!  I hope you are all doing well today.  Muffin is at the window watching the snowflakes swirling and twirling as they dance their way down to the ground.  But I will admit, I would rather not be watching snow falling when it’s just about the middle of March.  However, it is rather typical though.  The warmer weather we did have has started bringing other animals around.  Such as a skunk that likes to come up on the deck each night to see what he can find.  He/she likes peanuts too amazingly.  I think every animal must like them.  Anyway, I have named this little critter Sugar.  Muffin gets quite excited when she comes around.  I don’t.  If Sugar was to see Muffin in the window, well, it might not be pretty.  And certainly wouldn’t smell very nice either.  For a very long time.  That smell just doesn’t go away easily.  So now I try to make sure there are no leftover peanuts at night.  Sigh.

But now, for something that smells a lot nicer than a skunk…

A beautiful wild rose that produces the most wonderful scent, and it looks nice too.IMG_4626

And to go along with it, a very beautiful pink peony which also has a wonderful scent.  It’s so nice to see pics like this to remind us of warmer days ahead.  I hope you have a wonderful Friday and God bless!

Some unknown mushrooms.

Hello everyone!  I am certainly late with this today, terrible really.  Just been one of those days.  Had a lot that needed to be done today and since I’m still not moving that fast, it took longer than I expected.  Oh well, these things happen now and then.  Good thing it doesn’t happen too often though.  It has been mainly a cloudy day but it did barely get to the melting point today, now the wind has begun to bring in cooler temps.  Unfortunately that means there will be even more ice around for the next couple of weeks.  There was some ice fog again last night which put a thick layer of frost on everything.  It looked amazingly beautiful, especially up close.  I took some pics but haven’t had an opportunity to really look at them yet, so not sure how they turned out.

But for now, some warmer pics for us to enjoy…

Here we have a fantastic view of the bottom of a large white mushroom, though unfortunately I don’t know the name or if it’s edible.  But they are beautiful anyway.Lactarius vinaceorufescens(yellow latex milky)1

And here we have “lactarius vinaceorufescens”.  It has a very acrid flavor, slowly getting extremely hot.  But not poisonous anyway.  It is a common mushroom in this area and up to 4 inches (10cm) across.

There we have our look at some more intriguing mushrooms for our area up here in the north.  Have a wonderful day and God bless!
