For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Just after Jennifer left and Sky arrived, Jennifer communicated with me, “Danger, huddle and shield”! I repeated those words and literally dragged Misty over to where Tammy was sitting by Ezra’s desk. He had jumped over the desk to be close to us. We all knelt down and Sky took my hand and she noticed something and smiled. She then said to put my arm around Misty and touch Ezra’s shoulder, which I did.
That is when the crashing happened and there was a large explosion! The office building was almost completely destroyed, but none of us were hurt. I immediately communicated with Kat to send extra protection for Tammy’s mother and the kids, NOW! Kat and 6 of her Wildcats were not too far away, so they drove over to the grandmother’s house as fast as they could.
They arrived just as 8 men with assault rifles had gotten out of 2 cars and were running toward the house. Kat had 6 of her girls in the house already guarding the grandmother and the kids and she had called them to make sure they were ready for anything. Kat’s van came to a screeching stop in front of the house and the men turned and began shooting at the van.
The girls jumped out of the other side and quickly spread out behind the men’s cars. Kat just got out casually and began walking toward the men. They tried shooting her, without success, then their guns stopped working entirely. That’s when the Wildcats came out of hiding and began shooting the men. Kat ran at the two closest to her and began kicking them, so that they were soon dead.
Two men surrendered and Kat demanded to know who they were working for, or they would end up like their friends. “That would be murder!” exclaimed the one man. “We are a criminal gang,” said Kat laughing, “what do we care about the law?” Both men’s eyes got real wide when she said that. “Now, who do you work for?” she asked. “Finders,” said one man.
“Don’t push your luck with me mister,” said Kat, “I want to know who he works for.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about,” said the man again, quite arrogantly. Kat kicked him in the stomach and he fell to the ground moaning. “Is your memory any better?” Kat asked the other man. “Look miss, or Ms.,” he began pleading, “if I tell, she will kill me.” “Helene makes you that afraid?” asked Kat.
“How did you know it was her?” asked the man. “I make it my business to know who is operating in a given area before I check out an area,” said Kat, “now, take your miserable friend here and leave before I change my mind and kill you.” He moved amazingly fast, got his friend into one of the cars and drove away. Kat then went inside while her girls remained outside, just in case more men showed up.
However, they kept themselves hidden from view. Inside the poor grandmother was visibly shaken by this and by the news of what her daughter had been doing. “I knew something was wrong,” she said, “I just didn’t know what it was. I tried to tell Ezra that she was acting strange, but he said it was likely the stress of operating their business.
That made sense, and I certainly never thought that my own daughter would be involved in anything so terrible as porn and drugs, and even using her own children like that. How can a mother do that to her children?” She had moved in front of the living room window as she was talking and Kat got up from her chair to move her away from the window, telling her she shouldn’t do that unless the drapes are closed.
But before Kat got close enough to her, a bullet came through the window, hitting the grandmother and killing her instantly. Kat saw the man on the roof of the house across the street, standing next to the chimney. She ran out the door quickly arriving at the house as the man was halfway down the ladder.
Suddenly the ladder was red hot, the man yelled and jumped off, landing on the ground rather hard! He was getting up just as Kat kicked him in the head, killing him. Three of Kat’s girls followed her to the house, but Kat can outrun any of them by lots, so it was all over by the time they arrived. The girls carried the man over to their yard and soon the police arrived.
They were going to take custody of the children, but Kat told them their father would be taking them. The officer in charge was surprised, he had been told that Ezra Banks and his wife died in an explosion at their office building. Kat told him there was an explosion, but Tammy and Ezra were not hurt. The officer called for confirmation and was told that, indeed, Ezra and Tammy Banks were not hurt in the explosion.
Now, back to us after that explosion. The emergency responders arrived in just one minute after the explosion, so I asked how they managed to get here so fast. The officer in charge said the call about the explosion was received, they left immediately and arrived 12 minutes later. I told him that was impossible, the explosion had happened just one minute before they arrived.
He frowned a bit, then asked if we had received any head injuries in the explosion. I told him that none of us were hurt in any way at all. There were 2 women who had been walking their dogs when they saw a car stop, someone got out and tossed something through the window. The car then sped away and the office was then destroyed by that explosion.
They also confirmed the time of the explosion. While the officer was calling in this information, I looked at the devastation caused to the building. If we had not been there, Ezra and Tammy would have been killed for sure. While I was thinking I suddenly saw a piece of paper flapping in front of me. “What’s this?” I asked Misty.
“The license plate number and make of the car, my darling husband,” said Misty smiling. “How did you get this?” I asked. “By asking those women if they might have noticed these things,” she said again, still smiling, “that should be worth a kiss.” I gave her a big hug and kiss. Sky just giggled. Then Kat let me know about Tammy’s mother and that Helene is behind all of this.
We have never met Helene though she showed up briefly in our case about the prison that didn’t exist. She managed to get away that time before we had a chance to even see her. We still don’t know what she even looks like. Maybe this time we can stop her.
Ezra told the police about the drugs we had found and since they didn’t need us right now we went back to our hotel. Later, Ezra went to pick up the kids and take them home for the night. Kat and 6 of her Wildcats stayed with them for protection.
To Be Continued.
