A Quick Peek At Steve’s Vacation.

Hello everyone from…almost, but not yet!  But I thought it was time for a brief look at my vacation paradise here in the almost tropics.  I have some spare time at the moment, mainly because I am worn out from all this walking around.  Now, back in Canada, we use cars.  Here people walk.  No matter how hot it is.

Land of a hundred fountains, all in one spot, this is only half.

Admittedly there are a lot of vehicles here too.  I don’t know where they are going with all those vehicles.  There is no place to park them.  Some streets are only wide enough for one vehicle, a small vehicle at that.  This is so different from what I know.  Kind of cool actually.  If I was raised in this place it would all be quite natural.  I know, I know.  Where am I, right?  I will let you know, but not today.  I know.  I’m terrible.  I won’t deny that.

A hotel behind the fountains. No, not the one I’m staying at.  Oddly, I haven’t taken a picture of this one yet.

My trip didn’t really have the best start.  The first part of my flight was good, very good and enjoyable.  The second part, which was by far the longest part of the flight, was very turbulent for 3 hours.  That finished me.  Airsick.  All night long.  So I arrived at my destination rather tired.  But, since it was my first day, I went ahead and did my best anyway.  However, day 2, or 3 really, I was finished and ended up doing not much of anything except sleeping.  After all, I walked about 550 km the previous day and I was tired.

Here, they carry boats of boats. Not sure why.

But my guide was tired as well.  That surprised me a bit.  Especially since she is used to all this walking around.  Today I was ready to go again though.  I thought.  It was definitely worth all the heat and pain.  I would do it again actually.  I would love to spend more time at that spot.  Just not right away.  I need to recover.  Vacations are meant to wear a person out, not really for relaxing.  Even though the two can be the same thing sometimes.  I am certainly glad for the decision to come here.  Especially since our winters are getting longer all the time back home.  This is a nice change.

This is the street where my hotel is located, but just not in the picture. I wanted to show the palm trees.  Real palm trees.  Which I have never seen before.

I do miss my Muffin however.  But she is doing well without me apparently.  Which is good.  I think she is keeping track of me over here.  It’s that new friend of hers that’s helping her out.  I just know they talk to each other.

Well, anyway, there we have the first 3 days.  I was going to include today as well, but I will maybe do that tomorrow, along with day 5.  I have a lot of pictures so far and will get even more yet.  That way I can keep some for using in the winter when it gets boring talking about, well, winter.  Sigh.  In case you are wondering, I am not on that cruise boat pictured above.

I hope you are all enjoying your week as well and God bless!

Steve.

My Father…A Poem.

FATHER

He rejoiced in another son,

For I was not the only one;

He gladly led me all the way,

Dad taught me true, that I’d not stray.

Day by day Dad taught me well,

And picked me up when I fell.

He watched over me, that is true;

Thank you, O God, that father knew.

Though sometimes he was far away,

My love for him did always stay.

He helped me much whene’er he could;

Just like I know a father would.

He was my dad and friend indeed,

And always there in joy or need.

There was so much he gave to me,

And showed me what true love should be.

He still taught, though I was grown,

A wealth of knowledge he had shown,

I would not ask for another;

I know I had the best father.

A lot of time he spent with me,

Precious time, and all so free,

We shared and cared for one another;

Thank you, O God, for my father.
