It’s May! I Think.

Hello everyone on this very cold start to the month of May.  It’s unbelievable really.  The temp did finally make it to 43 (6C) today.  That is not a typical May temperature.  That’s a typical March temperature.  Maybe early April.  Not May.  Now, our spring was supposed to be warmer than normal.  Instead it turned out colder than normal.  A lot colder.  People were walking around wearing heavy jackets and gloves today.  In May.  Sigh.  Did I ever mention that I like warm places?  Wait, I love warm places.

Aha! There she comes now, time to attack!

On the plus side today, I was able to see 8 swans, wild ones.  That doesn’t happen too often.  On the negative side, I didn’t have my camera with me at the time. 📷 Why?  I have no idea really.  I had to make a bit of a trip today and decided not to take my camera.  After all, what can I see from a car on the highway?🤔  Swans.  Bison. Vultures.  I could have gotten pictures of all these.  But no. I decided to leave my camera at home.  Sigh.

It was a long day.  Five and a half hours in a car for a 15 minute appointment.  Was it worth it?  Yep!  Sure was.  Exciting, actually!  What did I do?  It’s a secret.  Does that mean I won’t say any more about it?  Yep.  At least not now.  Maybe some day.  I know, I’m a terrible person.  550 people can’t be wrong.😂

I’m really looking forward to some warmer weather.  Might have to wait for summer before that happens.  At least I hope it happens.  Nice warm summer weather.  You know, flowers blooming, bees buzzing, dragonflies dragging.  Dragging what?  Flies usually.😂🙄  Okay.  Maybe I’m just tired.  hungry bee

And hungry.  Didn’t eat much today.  That happens when I travel.  And the rest of the time too.  Oh well.  Many people have a hard time losing weight.  Hey, just follow my diet. Guaranteed to lose weight.  What diet?  Don’t eat.🥪  Works wonders.  Okay.  Not, don’t eat anything.  Just don’t eat much.🍟🍔🍕  Works.  No big secret really.  Do I need to lose weight? No. So why the diet?  I’m not on a diet.  That’s just my diet.  You see, a diet doesn’t have to be a diet in order to be a diet.  It’s just a diet.  Get it?🤔

I’m looking forward to the return of the hummingbirds so I can get a better picture of one.

Okay, next subject.  I’m tired.  You probably guessed that already.  When I’m tired my brain bounces around a bit.  There’s lots of space to do that.😂  So much for that one.  I think my squirrels spend more time chasing each other than anything else.  No wonder they eat so much.  They need the energy to run and fight all the time.😁

You called me what?

I think I will keep this short today.  I’m not really saying much anyway.  I will do better next time.  I promise.  Until tomorrow, I hope you will all enjoy your day/night.  Thank you once again for being here today, and God bless!

Tuesday’s Tumbles.

Hello everyone on this the last day of the month of April! I hope all of you are having a wonderful day.  Enjoying all the nice weather that I know some of you are enjoying since you told me in the comments about these unbelievable temperatures.  And we’re still on the same continent.  I can understand it being hot in other places around the world.  But really.  On the same continent yet.  Actually I think this part of Canada is a world of it’s own.  It’s cold again.  Snowed yesterday.  Cloudy and cold today.  This feels like the end of March.  Not the end of April.  To be honest, most years the end of March is warmer than this.  But it has been getting colder the last few years.  Not good.

Muffin getting ready for an afternoon nap.

Why tumbles?  Well, because the temp tumbled for one thing.  It was beautiful spring weather for a while.  And as I was watching out the window, 2 squirrels got into a bit of an argument on the feeder.  They rolled around and…tumbled right over the edge.  Down to the ground, ten feet below. 😹 Didn’t bother them at all.  They just kept on with their ‘discussion’.  Quite loudly.  They finally ran.  Both were females.  The 2 males around have learned, finally, to keep their distance when a female is present.  Even the terrible LB!😂 He chased them all away last year.  The females around this year don’t put up with him at all.  Good. He needed to be put in his place.

Muffin’s friend, Leya, looks like she is just waking up from a nap. Okay, they have never met, they’re pawpals.

Then there is Muffin.  We were playing skiffleball this morning and she was running and diving after that ball that she tumbled more than once.  But she certainly enjoyed herself. I hope I don’t offend my dog loving readers here.  But I do enjoy my cat.  I love cats period.  Always have.  Have always had a cat.  I love dogs too by the way.  Especially big dogs.

Another pawpal of Muffin’s, my landlord’s cat Scrappy.

At one place I lived there was a nice walking trail nearby.  So I tried it out.  First day as I was getting close to the trail, this beautiful Irish Setter was sitting on the sidewalk.  So I stopped to say hi.  She then followed me for my walk.  I wasn’t too sure about that.  Her owners might think I’m stealing their dog.  But she wouldn’t leave.  Until we got to the spot we met, then she sat down and I kept going.  Good.  Next day, same thing.  The whole time I lived there that dog would be waiting for me. And go walking with me.  She was a great companion on my walks.  Her owners were an older couple that couldn’t take her walking anymore and were overjoyed that I would take their dog with me.

But, hey, I live in a small apartment.  Just not the right place for a big dog.  Perfect for a cat though.  Like Muffin.  Many people like cats for pets.  Cats are actually the most popular pet, with more than 500 million worldwide.  Here in N. America, cats outnumber dogs as pets by a wide margin.  Cats played important roles in WWI and WWII.  They kept the mouse and rat populations under control on ships and in trenches, protecting valuable food supplies.  Many cats received medals and ribbons for their service in war time.  They were even used as messenger cats, just like pigeons.  But as pets, that’s where they really purr!

Almost sleeping, but still watching that camera.

You won’t find a better stress reliever than a purring cat curled up on your lap.  Just petting a cat will see stress go way down, immediately.  Many animals can do this for people, but cats are at the top.  Just something about them that says, ‘calm’.  Now, there is a bit of a training period.  But cats are very patient.  Once they have you trained it’s easy from then on.  Muffin says I’m still in the training process.  Hmm.  Might be right.  Oh well.

Oops. That’s not a cat.  But almost as cute.

A very big thank you to my good friend Ilona for letting me use a couple pictures of her cat, Leya, today.  Well, it has been nice visiting with you again today, I hope you all have a wonderful day/night and God bless!
