For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
While we were talking, Angel heard more voices, but this time the voices were behind the wall. “They are complaining about the glue you put in that hole of the picture,” said Angel giggling, “it is 2 men talking, one was the same that I heard talking with Viktor last night. All is quiet now.” “Hmm, I wonder if they have seen you here before,” I said to Sky. “No, I am not visible to anyone but those on our team right now,” she said, “I made sure to keep it that way just in case someone was watching us.”
“Good thinking,” I said, “um, by the way, you two seem to do some amazing things. Like that electrical current from your hand Sky, and now Angel turning into a lion, that is something totally new.” “Remember Steve, we need to keep these things a secret,” said Sky, “if someone captured you, the less you know the better. They do have drugs that make people talk, and that would not be good.” “Yes, I guess you are right,” I said, “sometimes it’s hard being kept out of the loop.
I think the most amazing thing is that you can hear me say your name, no matter where you are.” She smiled. “And I always will,” she said, “and it doesn’t take me long to show up and help you, remember that.” “Yes, I think that one is amazing too,” said Angel, “it would be nice if all of us ghosts could do that one.” “Nice that the drug in our food didn’t affect you Angel,” I said, “good to know in case I have no time to say Sky’s name.”
“By the way, whatever happened to those locator things we had implanted in us?” asked Sky. “Oh, we were having too much trouble with them,” I said, “so we had them removed. Kat, Carolyn and Patrick are working on something else.” We then decided on going back to bed and morning arrived rather quickly. The cats were happy, we were having pancakes for breakfast, and afterward we had a team meeting before heading into our day.
I wanted to look at those papers again telling about how to find the Stone House treasure and the inheritance. Perhaps they are the same thing, perhaps not. “When was the last time you saw Enid?” I asked Oskar. “I have not seen her until we came here now,” he said, “not even a photo. Viktor kept saying he would send me a photo, but he kept forgetting.
I did see some wedding photos, but Enid was always with her back to the camera or her face was hidden behind something, but she did have nice, long blond hair. They did not have a good photographer.” He laughed as he said this. “She now has shoulder length black hair,” I said, “kind of odd, and they have separate bedrooms.” “Viktor said she dyed her hair because it looked more professional for her job as a legal secretary. Strange they have different bedrooms, they are obviously much in love.”
“Penny, please get me a photo of Enid from 4 or 5 years ago,” I said. “Hi Steve, Pacca here,” she said, “I will do my best.” “Um, what happened to Penny?” I asked. “She and Brook are both in the clinic,” she said, “both have headaches that will not go away, no one else is having problems though.” I then got in touch with Jennifer who assured me they were checking things out carefully. I decided to send Miles home, Cal will be coming to help us instead, as will the rest of my regular team.
I told Matt to head home as well and turn things over to Aari. I told Jennifer that I was sure Lauren was here, along with at least one of her big dogs. She is one of Christopher’s aunts and we had trouble with her before. Aari knew her years ago when he worked for Victor (not our present Viktor), and she always wanted Aasta to work for her in her “porn department” as she called it. Aasta is 18, but she looks younger, and is very beautiful, a perfect combination Lauren told Aari (who was known as the Major at the time).
At that time Aasta was only 14, but she looked like she was 10. Lauren tried to take Aasta from us a while back but we foiled her attempt and she vowed to return one day and get her revenge, by taking Aasta and killing me. Maybe that’s what this whole inheritance thing is all about. We shall see. I had told all of this to Sky before she left. Jennifer thought I should come home and forget about this case entirely. “Hmm, Sky had said the same thing,” I told her.
“We ghosts think alike,” said Jennifer, “you just make sure that either Angel or Sky is with you at all times.” “I promise to do that,” I said. “I heard that promise,” said Angel. “So did I,” said Sky. She was on the bed right behind me and actually made me jump that time. She just giggled. That morning we spent our time looking for that door that must be in the living room. Enid seemed to be a bit nervous that we were looking around so closely and she kept trying to get us to check other rooms of the house too.
Angel began to ask her more normal types of questions, unlike me, which seemed to calm her down a bit. Angel asked how she and Viktor had first met, how long they were engaged before getting married and a whole bunch of other unimportant things. It did keep Enid occupied though and they eventually ended up in the kitchen having coffee while they talked. We didn’t find any secret door, however, which was rather disappointing, especially since we knew there had to be one in that room.
Finally Enid said she needed to go shopping and pick up a few things for dinner. After she left Tracker picked up the scent of a dog which led us to a secret door, just inside the kitchen. Now we just need to find out how to open it. Obviously there is another way into those secret passages too, from the outside, so Mac, John, Nakedra and Victoria took Tracker, Muffin, Storm and Tiger outside to look around. We were told to just help ourselves for lunch.
After lunch Pacca sent me a photo of Enid and Viktor on their wedding day. Now we are getting somewhere. I want to have another talk with Viktor, unfortunately this is a day when he works late, which means we will find him at one of the nightclubs. I had put a tracker on his jacket so he would be easy to follow.
Angel had also put a tracker on Enid’s jacket so we could keep track of her whereabouts today as well. We are getting somewhere, but maybe not where I want to be getting. Now for those clues for the treasure and the inheritance…
To Be Continued.

DISCLAIMER: This post is for information and interest only, it should not be considered a guide to edible wild mushrooms. Always go with a knowledgeable person when picking wild mushrooms.
Hi everyone! Time to look at yet another mushroom that is rather interesting, and quite common in our area. Well, it is listed in the books as a type of mushroom. Personally I think I would just call it a type of fungus. But, that’s what a mushroom is anyway so I guess it works either way.

White Coral Fungus beginning to grow.
So, here it is, the White Coral fungus (or mushroom). The first photo shows a young one just beginning to grow, the second photo is a more mature White Coral fungus, which changes color a bit as it matures, to a pinkish/tan color. It was a little hard to capture the color just right in that shade. There are several different varieties of corals and they can be difficult to tell apart at times.
Only a couple are considered edible, some are inedible (like this species) and some are toxic. Basically this means it is best to avoid eating them unless you are absolutely sure of which species you have found. They are quite common from June through to fall, especially after rain.

Mature White Coral fungus.
This species grows on the ground in areas of mixed hardwoods and conifers. I have found them growing in decaying pine needles and in moss (likely with decaying pine needles underneath). They can grow up to about 4 inches (10cm) tall and wide.
Personally I wouldn’t eat them, but they are a fascinating fungus to photograph. This species has no real odor or flavor to it. Well, I hope you have enjoyed this one, have a great day and God bless!
