Tuesday’s Tidbits, With Coffee! #21

Good morning to all of you! It is nice to be back again on this beautiful morning! Time for some coffee and a look at some little country pleasures. Sometimes it is very easy to see the bigger country pleasures because they are, well, bigger. And easier to see. But there are also lots of small, even tiny, country pleasures out there to enjoy.

I realize that not everyone might enjoy some of the smaller things in nature, there are things that I do not really enjoy as well. Such as spiders. Yes, they are beneficial. Outdoors. But I do not like them indoors. Especially when they get to be 3, 4 or 5 inches in size. But we are not talking about spiders today. Even though I just did. I admit, I do have a fear of spiders.

Male Ruby-throated Hummingbird at the feeder.

Especially larger spiders. I do not like spiders crawling on me. I have tried to overcome this fear of spiders. Unsuccessfully. But we are not talking about spiders today. Sigh. But there are many beautiful, and small, creatures out in nature. Like the hummingbird, which I am showing in pics today. They are absolutely amazing little birds and native to North and South America.

Here he is again, his throat looks black unless the sun shines on it at just the right angle.

Though they have been introduced to other countries now too. They are a friendly little bird that can fly forwards, backwards, sideways, up and down, plus upside down. Because they use so much energy, they do need to eat constantly throughout the day. They are tiny, and wonderful, country pleasures. Chickadees, both Black-capped and Boreal species, are also small and wonderful country pleasures.

I have shown many pics of them sitting on my hand getting their food. Also the Red-breasted Nuthatch, another small country pleasure. Pine siskins are another small bird, smaller than the chickadees, and they too can be very friendly and I have had them sitting on my hand to get food as well. They are another small country pleasure.

Here we see a bit of color showing up.

There are also many small, even very tiny, wildflowers, that are very easy to overlook due to their small size. But it is well worth stopping to check them out. They may be tiny flowers, but are just as beautiful as larger flowers that get all the attention. They are real country pleasures. There are so many other things I could mention that are small, but beautiful, it would make a very long list indeed.

Here he is backing away from the feeder.

This is just a starter list. So take some time when out walking to stop and enjoy these tiny beauties. I am sure that no matter where you live, there are some small country pleasures to enjoy. We need to take some time to get out and enjoy things more, we will truly benefit from it. God has given us such beauty to enjoy. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
