For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning and Happy Friday to everyone! Time for Coffee and a look at what is going on around here. Sort of anyway. I missed my post again yesterday, that is 2 Thursdays in a row now. It has been an exciting week. Sort of anyway. Well, not really in the good kind of exciting, but the different kind of exciting that I can really do without, but it usually comes along anyway. Sigh.
Wednesday night I was going to get Muffin’s snack ready for her before going to bed. I was finally going to get to bed early for a change. Nice. I did not have the kitchen light on, but the one in the living room gives enough light for what I was doing. I went over to get Muffin a clean dish and…squish. My foot got wet. Oh no. What did I just step in? Then…squish. My other foot got wet. Both were soaked actually.

Female Pine Grosbeak.
I turned on the kitchen light and discovered water all over the floor. About 4 liters of it actually. So I had to clean that up and move some stuff around. Water was still coming in, but not much. Sigh. So much for early bedtime. Sometimes frost builds up in the attic space, then melts in spring and leaks in here. I will not go into detail of why that happens, it would take too long. My new landlord does not like cleaning the snow off the roof, and that is the main problem. Oh well.

Another one.
Last night it happened again, but not quite as much water this time. Sigh. Then, yesterday was garbage pickup day. We had 4 inches (10cm) of new snow, as I mentioned before. The driveway was already ice covered, completely from end to end, about 3 to 4 inches (7.5 to 10cm) thick of ice. Very slippery. Now it was covered with this snow which hid the ice making it even more slippery. Which I discovered taking out my garbage and recyclables to the street.
I slipped and met with the ice twice. It was a jarring experience to say the least. It was also not much fun and finished me for the day. So I got nothing done yesterday. Including my Thursday post. Again. Sigh. I actually think my back and legs feel worse today than yesterday. I have not seen my Boreal Chickadees since yesterday morning. I hope that does not mean they have left me already.

Male Pine Grosbeak.
I know they will soon, but I was hoping they would be around a little longer since it is still far from being spring. But they do start nest building early. They dig out a hole in a dead tree for their nest. Just like woodpeckers do. But it takes the chickadees longer since they have much smaller beaks to use for the task.

And another one.
Chickadees are easily attracted to bird houses (properly called nesting boxes) as well. Much less work for them. Well, I should maybe go out and sit with the birds for a while and hopefully the Boreal Chickadees will come around. Have a wonderful Friday everyone and God bless!

Well, I am feeling much better this morning, Crystal is getting good with her massages. I did call Saranna and told her about the headaches coming back. She was quite concerned about that, especially since we had taken on another case too. She told me to let the others do the work, I can just kind of organize things.
That might not be easy after last night, I am quite involved in the case now, at least with Tamara anyway. I cannot stop that just now, she is our best way to stop this gang. We shall see how it all plays out anyway. Our plan is working good so far. We have all the goods they had hidden in their cave, and safely hidden elsewhere. We even have the necklace and money from the older couple across the hall.
Right now I am not saying anything to them however, just in case they mess things up for us. I will make sure they get everything back before they leave. Or when we smash this gang, whichever comes first. It was a nice relaxing morning, lazing on the beach. I even went in swimming for a while. Shortly after I got in my beach chair the cats came running up with more information for me. Sky came out right away when she saw the cats.
Meow, meow.=Human Tamara catch human Carrie and Don taking midnight swim, she real angry. Meow.=Yep, she say she want to kill them, but going to tell human big man about them instead. Meow, meow=Yep, she find stolen stuff from cave in house and say they in big, big trouble. Meow.=Yep, but she say they not take it, must be planted there.
Meow, meow.=Yep, she say maybe it human manager person, he not like human Carrie. Meow.=Yep, human Tamara say maybe that true so she go look in his room. Meow, meow=Yep, she find more stolen stuff in his room and she get very angry with him, say she tell human big guy all about him and giving information to us. Meow.=Yep, now human manager person real scared, going to run away tonight before human big guy come tomorrow.
Meow, meow.=Yep, now she scared too, human big guy bring men with him tomorrow, that mean big trouble for everyone, so she want to run away too, but not able to. “Wow, that is a lot of information,” I said, “you two should get a medal for all your work on this case.” Meow.=Just do all in days work, not different, everyone do same.
Meow, meow.=Yep, everyone here work hard, you two too most of all. “Thank you Muffin,” I said smiling, “but right now I feel like I am more of a problem than a help to all of you, especially if these headaches continue.” Right then Annelie called with more interesting information. “I discovered something about Tamara,” she said, “apparently she has been wanting to get out of criminal activity for some time, but does not know how to do it and stay alive.
Even in jail she tried to get the police interested in giving her a new identity for information that she already gave and more that she could give. But they said no. She even called the Major two years ago when she got out of jail and asked if he could help her. She knew the Major from some work she did a few years ago. He did not know how to help her then, but he did not know about us at the time either.
I called him and he remembered her and felt bad that he did not tell her about us. He feels she is genuine and wants out badly. Maybe we can use that to enlist her help.” “Hmm, could work,” I said, “but from what I have heard about us, we have never put a price on helping someone who truly wants to change. Does she know Carver?”
“No, fortunately she has never met him, just knows about him,” she replied, “and you are right, we never have put a price on helping. I am proof of that.” “I hope you have our background cover done well,” I said, “I have a feeling that Tamara will be checking it, perhaps this Brandish guy too.” “Best that I can do Steve,” she replied, “but there are always the unknowns.”
“Yes, that is true,” I admitted. She hung up and a short time later Tamara showed up. “You are an interesting person Steve,” she began, “and not quite who you seem to be. Tell me, would you really have shot me last night?” “Well, I guess we will never know the answer,” I said. “I do not believe the leader of The Investigators would kill me in cold blood like that,” she said…
