For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hello everyone on this nice, sunny morning! I love this time of day. The sun shines brilliantly on my pine desk giving it such a beautiful golden glow. And in the evening the sun once again bounces off my desk, but the color is definitely different, a brighter hue, more yellow than gold. Either way it is nice. Something that doesn’t happen in the winter. Only in the spring. One of those simple country pleasures for which to be thankful.

All too often we overlook these little things. We don’t take the time to appreciate what we have. Until we no longer have it. Then it’s too late. Why not take some time. Stop once in a while. Notice the things you have. Take a good look. Not just a quick glance. Pause for a bit. Savor it. Enjoy it. Like the beauty of spring. We rush here and there. We might see a tree covered with pink blossoms and we say, oh, nice, and rush on. Pause. Take a good look at that tree. Those wonderful blossoms. Enjoy the moment. One of those country pleasures that can often be enjoyed in the city as well.

This is the time of year when the singing of birds is at their best. Listen to them. Open your window and let that beautiful chorus of songs come inside. If you are outside, stop, and listen to that robin, swallow, or whatever bird is in your neighborhood. There are some. And their song is cheerful. It should put a smile in our heart. But we are always in such a rush. We don’t hear or see these things. Country pleasures. They come in all forms. Like the sun shining on my desk. How often do we notice these things? Notice. It will make your day so much brighter. And joyful.

One of my readers, Alessia asked if I would answer some questions she had given to her nominees for an award. So I agreed. I had to translate the questions from Italian so I hope they came out correctly. Here are her questions;
If you had the possibility of being transformed into an animal, what would you be and why?
Easy, I love cats, so I would pick either a tiger or a jaguar. They are the kings of cats, and they are beautiful too.
Is there anything in your life that you would never separate from?
Well, that question could be interpreted different ways, such as people, then I would say yes, certain friends and family. Possessions? Probably no.
In this virtual world, all the people you know you have never really seen them. What feelings do you rely on to give them confidence and friendship?
This is a tougher question. In any friendship there needs to be honesty, loyalty, love and all can be given even in our online world that we have today. There is more, but I want to keep it short.
What do you really feel rich in?
Family and friends.
What is the first thing you pack when you leave?
Well, on vacation, clothes. I like easy ones. MEOW! Chomp! AAAAAA!!!! My foot again! Of course, let’s say Muffin instead.
Would you like it if you could live 1000 years, or as “Highlander the last immortal”?
A thousand years? Sure, why not? As long as I could have someone with me also living just as long. Otherwise, probably not. And as long as I could live in a warm place.
Do you always make plans and organize yourself meticulously or do you live for the day?
Sometimes and yes. Another easy one, I like easy, especially if I’m in a warm place.
When you put the key in the lock in the evening and open the door, what is the first thing that comes to mind when you cross the threshold?
Where’s Muffin, I don’t want to trip over her! MEOW! Which means, smart thinking.
Do you believe that there is something superior that governs everything regardless of the religion you have embraced?
Yes, God.
And now the most difficult question: the truth! Does it exist? Do you always say the truth?
Yes, and Yes. I do not believe in lying.
Well, that is it for now folks, I want to thank you for joining Muffin and I here again today. And in a little while I will be posting something a bit different, for me at least, and I hope that you will enjoy that as well. Have a great day and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

As I was working in the garden the other day, I took a moment to enjoy hearing the joyful song of the chickadees.

Yes, it’s always a joy listening to the chickadees and right now we have a lot of white throated sparrows singing all day long starting before it gets light. Enjoy your day Leola! Thanks for coming by today!

Actually that’s the third time I have tried, for some reason I keep getting kicked off, not your fault, it’s just a problem with WordPress.

That’s odd. That same thing has been happening to me as well. I try to follow a blog, and have to click “follow” button several times before it registers.

It happens sometimes, but I will keep hitting the follow button as much as needed, so don’t think I have left! Enjoy your day!😃

I didn’t get why this plant is hated?
Yes Rusty is certainly cute 🤩 always eating haha

Thanks so much for coming over today Huguette! Everyone hates dandelions, except odd people like me. In N America, billions of dollars are spent each year by people trying to kill this plant, nothing works, it keeps coming back. But it’s such a healthy plant to eat, and really, they are quite pretty too. The clouds have taken over now, but it’s still nice out there. Enjoy your night!😃😺🌙

Well I didn’t know that and therefore I don’t hate it 😊 why killing it if it’s not harmful? Oh well it’s coming back so they should stop trying I guess haha
Hope the sun will keep struggling to come out despite the clouds 😊 Enjoy your day 😸 A bientot

People just want nice green grass on their lawns, not yellow flowers!😂Strange thing though. Hope you sleep well tonight.😴🌙

Most people would never have to buy lettuce all summer if they just ate the dandelions on their lawns. It’s great stuff! And healthier than lettuce too!😄😁

If they start to eat it then it will vanish 😂 I certainly didn’t know it’s better than lettuce 👌

Far more vitamins than lettuce, leaves stems and flowers can go in a salad.😃😀

Good morning Huguette, yes, it is supposed to be another sunny day, maybe a bit warmer than yesterday which would be nice. Good idea, get those dandelions quick before someone else does!😂 I wish I could eat the ones here but my landlord puts too much poison on them each year!😲 Have a great day to you as well!😄

Great! Hope it will be warmer then 🙂 Oh well if I didn’t show up on wordpress in the upcoming week, probably the dandelions here are poisoned too 😂😂

Interestingly, my landlord started with the poison once she found out I like to eat them!😂

These people are damn nasty! OMG! I’m reconsidering, I want the wolves and the bears to find them 😂😂

I’m back, haven’t seen the bear for a few days now, guess now that the ants are out that should keep them busy for food. I hope. I always find it amazing, something so small is the favorite food of a huge bear!🐜 That and honey.🐝

Really now? Ants
oh damn this is weird, tell them your neighbor or landlord will taste much better 😂😂😂😂 (oh yes I’m bad)

I don’t mind ants so much, although last summer there certainly was a lot of them!😕

Most people don’t even believe about those monster spiders, being this far north especially. Strange. But I never would have believed it myself since I had never seen one until 3 years ago, and I’ve lived here all my life.🕷😀

Spiders are damn scary! So how come giant ones 😕😕 glad it was only one you saw
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh no, I have seen several, that was just the first one. They like to hide out under my deck unfortunately! These are forest relative of our dark fishing spider (which we commonly call dock spiders) and their venom can be quite dangerous for some people. A normal spider can raise quite a lump on me with it’s bite, so I wouldn’t want to be bitten by one of these big girls. Only the female gets that big, males are about 2.5cm. Muffin is really flying right now!😁✈😹

😂😂 OMG sounds scary! You need to watch out
Poor Muffin 🐱 🕷
LikeLiked by 1 person
Yes, the bite from one of them can actually make an animal Muffin’s size quite sick. These are hunting spiders, they don’t use webs, they jump on insects or small animals and bite them. They largest recorded here in Ontario was 6 inches in size. That would finish me, I would be gone from here!😲😂

Mother of spiders😨😨😨 damn I thought these things are just in movies

That’s where they should be! I thought huge spiders only lived in tropical areas, not in the frozen north!😲😵😀
