For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hello everyone on this beautiful sunny Thursday! I was planning to get my post out nice and early today. Didn’t happen. As you can tell. When I turned on my laptop this morning at 5:30am there was no internet connection. Okay. There have been a lot of problems with our internet lately. Going off for short periods of time. Right while I’m doing something of course. This time the internet went off shortly after 5am. I did a reboot of the modem. Several times. Nothing. Okay. So I waited a bit to see if it would come back on. Nothing. So after an hour I decided to phone.
I really do not like calling these places. Press 1 for this, 2 for that. Several times. Finally I got to speak with a real person. Amazing. Guess they ran out of possibilities for recorded messages. So I’m happy now. After the usual questions, he decided we should do a factory reset. I know that one. Had to do it before. Twice actually. Okay. Did that. Still nothing. He disappears for awhile. After 15 minutes he comes back. It’s a general outage in your area, he says, we will send someone out to look at it. Only took a 35 minute phone call to discover this piece of info. Obviously I was the first person to call in. Glad I wasn’t paying for the phone call. He was located some 2,000 km away in the southern part of our province.
And in a different time zone. That was hard to get across. People living down there don’t realize there are 2 different time zones in this province. Amazing how many whole countries are in the same time zone. We can’t do that in one province. But Ontario is big. Larger than most countries. You can fit 2 countries the size of France in Ontario, with room left over. Think of how big Canada is then. It’s the second largest country in the world. We just don’t have very many people. And distances between places are long.
Back to the internet. It took another hour and it was finally working once again. Except I couldn’t connect. I did that factory reset. So now I needed the security code to connect. Like I’m going to remember that. I knew it must be written down. Somewhere. Found some numbers. Three different ones if fact. None worked. Naturally. By this time I’m thinking I will need to phone back. I really didn’t want to do that. Finally found another number. It worked! This added another half hour to my time. Technology hates me, it really does. It’s been a while since my last technology post. Things have been going good. Until this morning.
Oh well. On the plus side, I did get some cleaning done. Plus I got my garbage ready for pick up, early on that one for a change. Plus I was able to work on my pictures for a while, don’t need internet for that one, fortunately. And Muffin and I had some play time, but that’s a normal one anyway. So the time wasn’t a total loss. Just had to switch things around a bit. If things don’t work normally, then look for a non normal way to do things. As I said yesterday. Look for the positive side in every situation. If you can’t see anything positive, then make something positive. It’s there. It’s just that the negative blinds us so we can’t see the positive.
Well, not what I was planning to write about today, but it works. So just kind of a mix up bunch of pictures for today as well. We had the police around the other evening. Four cruisers and 8 officers. They arrested several young men. I have such nice neighbors. You don’t walk around here after dark. Thank you for stopping by, I hope you are having a great day and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

I agree! Some of these places have such a long list to go through and one I called had nothing that fit my problem and there was no option for a real person either. Very frustrating! Thanks for reading today, enjoy your evening!😃🌞😺

You should try remembering your pass code. Then you wouldn’t need to write it down..🤔🙄
LikeLiked by 1 person
It isn’t my pass code, it’s their security code and it’s 16 numbers long, with one letter. I have only used two times, beside today, because it’s only necessary to use it when first hooking up and since it was reset it’s just like starting over again at the beginning. If I was using it regularly like my other passwords it wouldn’t be a problem. Didn’t read my poem either, did you?🤔😀🙄

I hate having to call Orange because 20 minutes later, going round in automated circles, not having spoken to anyone, it’ll often tell you to check it out on line – duh!

I know the feeling! Had the same thing happen, no person to talk with, go online, but I can’t, my internet isn’t working, that’s why I’m phoning!😂

Oh well as you said we should find not normal way to do things I guess 😊 and you succeeded! I also hate the machine and prefer having help from a real person, glad eventually the problem has been solved!
Nice is beautiful and hope you will visit it again, it’s worth it 😊
Wow lot of action around your house! must be some very good neighbors and hope they are the ones who are against the birds feeding 😀
Hope Friday will be great and you will enjoy your weekend 😊😸

Seems everywhere I call now it’s machines, getting very hard to talk with real people and already some places don’t have an option for a real person.😕 Yes, Nice is a great place, would be great to go back again, have to wait and see.🌴📷I don’t know if they were the bird haters or not but…😃Must have been something major for such a police presence.👮♂️👮♀️ We do have a problem here with 4 major gangs and drugs. It’s going to be another good day for sure, hope you enjoy your Friday as well!😃🌞😸

Yes they’re trying to cut the cost and computerizing everything 😕
Yes such presence means it’s major so hope it’s a good sign for safety not just like that 🙂

Sorry about the internet problem Steve. I know how annoying that is. I can’t comment much about the post. I loved reading it, And I love the “look at the bright side” message. Haha 😀 you’re hope that police was bringing someone who hate bird feeding is funny. And Mr. Buck is probably worry that you’re a stalker 😂

Hi Jessica! Thanks for the great comment! As far as the police are concerned, I like to dream!😂 Probably something a bit more important though, we do have problems with 4 major Canadian gangs and drugs here. This little town is the link for anything moving east or west across this country, it has to go through here.😕Enjoy your day!😃😺🌞

Oh my god! I love gang movies but I think I’ll escape out of my skin or sleep with one eyes open if they frequently drop by in my town.
Have a great weekend too Steve 🙂

I agree, it can make a person nervous at times. Here if you want to be out after dark, make sure not to be alone! I’m glad this is just a small quiet country town. Enjoy your day!😂😹

We have only one time zone and it is difficult to conceive that there are countries that have different time zones. As well it’s difficult to imagine large spaces for me. Many years ago I crossed France by car, from South to North, and I still remember my astonishment in front of the cultivated fields as far as the eye can see and not even a house or a town in sight. I live in a small Country and it is very densely inhabited. Too much, for my taste…
Have a good day and weekend!

Good morning Ross. We do have a huge country with 6 time zones altogether. And it’s possible to travel for long distances with nothing between towns for many hours. It’s sometimes hard to imagine anything different. From here to the capital city of our province is 1500 km. About 2 thirds of our province is basically uninhabited. I hope you have a great weekend as well!😃😺🌞

These are things that fascinate me very much. Nature, distances. Then I understand that living there every day is not always so simple.

That is very true, it can feel quite isolated here at times, especially in the winter things can be hard. It’s interesting to learn some things about other countries. When I find out where one of my readers is from I try to learn more about that country. Enjoy your day!😃

I so can not stand automated call centers. Makes me want to just shoot my phone. It’s all about money. Cut the operator out and save a few thousand…ughhh

Yeah, and people get frustrated so they quit calling to complain, which is okay with the company!😂🙄
