For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hello everyone! Welcome back to Nature’s Art! You were probably wondering what happened to this one, it didn’t show up at all last week. Unfortunately since I was sick last week things got a bit mixed up for my posts. However, Nature’s Art will be reduced for a bit, only coming out on Tuesdays (possibly Saturday as well, not sure yet) and Darting Dragonflies will be moved to Thursdays. I am making some adjustments to my posts for a little while due to this Covid-19 virus which is kind of messing things up a bit which means I can’t get out and add new pictures to use for my posts. And this problem might persist for a while yet. So a few minor changes are necessary. But I will still be doing my Daily Pics, mystery story, coffee posts, award posts and others, so I hope you will keep coming around, Muffin and I always enjoy having you come to visit with us!
And now for some art in nature from a few days ago…
Remember I mentioned before when we got that freezing rain and it covered everything with about 3/4 of an inch of ice, a rather dangerous time, but it did produce some extra beauty too which stayed with us for 3 days.
The trees were truly sparkling in the sun and looked fantastic against the brilliant blue of the sky.
Even the dried out stems of last year’s flowers were covered with ice creating a new beauty for the landscape.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed today’s art in nature, our 40th such post! There is a lot of beauty out there for us to enjoy, we just need to stop and take a look at it. And hopefully some warmer beauty will arrive in the near future as well! I trust you are all having a wonderful day, stay safe and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

Good Day Steve! Freezing rain can be beautiful but it plays havoc with walking and driving. Enjoyed your photos. Trust you are feeling better. Around here, it is finally warming up above freezing and not snowing every day. Things were melting fast yesterday and made the once solid snow, a quagmire. It was hard to drive without getting stuck. The longer days of daylight, make things sparkle. Enjoy your day with Muffin! Cheers!

Yes, it is dangerous, that’s why I mentioned that part before the beauty. We are not used to getting that kind of freezing rain, usually it just puts a thin layer of ice on everything, easy to melt off the streets quickly with salt though still dangerous for walking. But this thick layer of ice I have never seen before, neither had some older people I talked to. You’re getting warmth while we still freeze! Hopefully that will change by the weekend. Have a great day!😃😺🌞

Steve, may you and Muffin enjoy some sunshine today. We rarely get freezing rain but when we do, it lasts a long time due to the cold roads and harsh winters. Some migrating geese and swans were sighted about 100 miles south, so they will get here soon although the snow still blankets the land. It is always encouraging to see them fly in V formation and honk. Although it might delay, warmer weather is on its way. If the leaves pop out in the next month, it will be wonderful. By that time, it will be light 24/7! The weather can be unusual. Blessings of health and warmer weather!

Occasionally we get freezing rain at the start of winter, then it sticks around a long time, but normally it’s in the spring once the streets are already warming up so it doesn’t usually freeze on the streets, except this time, so it was bad for 3 days before it warmed up and melted off the streets. Wow, swans already, they should be coming through here now and they stop on the river, but there is still too much snow for me to walk that far yet, so guess I will miss them this year again. We usually only see them one or two days and they’re gone for another year. I wouldn’t mind the all day light, but winters that are dark, forget it, I couldn’t handle that, bad enough with our short days! Have a wonderful day and week!

Yes, it is great to have the light and see the migrating birds. Our Spring is very short. We basically have 2 seasons,Winter 8-9 months and Summer 3 months. The rest is a fleeting short few days of Spring and a few days or a week of Fall. Enjoy your day! Summer is coming!

We generally get 6-7 months of winter, 2 months spring, kind of, 3 months of summer, usually, and a month or so of fall. Although last year we only had 2 months of summer, 1 month of spring, a month of fall and a month of what I would call early winter without snow.🙄😂

Yes, the weather can fail us, although God never does. Usually our summers are wonderful. But there have been times when we get a little snow in every month of the year. I am looking forward to the bright flowers and vegetables that grow fast in the midnight sun. 🙂

Yes, that is so true!
I guess things would grow fast with all that sunlight. Interesting.

Yes! The colors of flowers are brighter and the vegetables sweeter. The cabbage, carrots and beets are very sweet.

Hmm, that is interesting, guess it’s all that extra sunlight that does it for sure.

Thanks Pene! Here it is, 2pm and only 20F and windy, it’s a cold day, we even lost the sun now. Staying inside with a hot cup of coffee is the best thing to do!
Have a wonderful afternoon Pene!😃😺

It does create a lot of beauty, though dangerous too. I love the way the trees looked against the sky though, my favorite.

you are right, the ice creates dangerous conditions, but some beautiful images as well, like the ones you captured.

Yep, that was the first time I had ever seen it with this much ice and those trees against the sky, just beautiful. We only had the one sunny day with the ice but I’m glad we got that so I could get those pics and many more. Have a great day Jim!

And it’s amazing how many people don’t notice, even when we had all that ice I talked to people who never noticed how pretty it was!🤔🙄
Enjoy your evening!😃😺

People are too concerned with their daily habits instead of raising their eyes and watch the beautiful nature around them ☺️
