Good morning to all of you, my friends, on this beautiful holiday Monday! And even if it isn’t a holiday where you live, Happy Monday to everyone! It is another wonderful morning here, though it is cloudy right now. The forecast said nothing about clouds for us today, only sunshine. So hard to believe that with all of our modern technology, they still can’t see a large area of clouds in the sky.
Sir George was here just shortly after 5am this morning, sitting on the bird feeder and calling quietly for me. Just letting me know he’s there and waiting for his breakfast. But Lady Pearl is likely sitting on the nest now so perhaps he wants to give her breakfast in bed today. Yes, he is actually very good at sharing his food with her, even when they both would show up together.
Yesterday morning another herring gull showed up which was about the same size as Sir George. After a short “discussion”, the newcomer actually chased Sir George off the feeder. However, he was a bit nervous about me standing there so he only grabbed a bit of food and was gone quickly. Then Sir George came back and finished getting his breakfast. Never thought any other gull would chase him away, but perhaps the other gull is younger.
And now to continue our walk from yesterday, we are still down at the river…
Looking up towards the path from the rocky shoreline we saw yesterday.
Leaves on the smaller shrubs are coming out nicely now and even the trees are showing some nice green as the young leaves are now beginning to grow. Always exciting to see that new green in the trees, showing that summer is not far away now.
Here the sun dappled path continues through the pines past the bench where we sat yesterday looking down the river.
It is such a beautiful time of year, as everything comes to life once again little by little for us to enjoy. I hope you have been enjoying our little walk yesterday and today. Have a wonderful day everyone, stay safe and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.
