Good morning everyone and Happy Monday to you all! Well, it definitely was a wet night here with thunderstorms hitting us starting last evening. Poor Muffin, she really did not have a good time at all. She felt that severe weather 2 hours before it actually hit us and she stayed with me during that time, but when it hit she disappeared under the bed. I used to enjoy thunderstorms, but since that one severe storm flooded my apartment it kind of changed my opinion just a bit. Ordinary thunderstorms are one thing, but severe thunderstorms are a little different. One storm that hit the area last night at 8 pm produced ping pong sized hail and very strong wind. It missed us right here going by just a bit north. That was fine with me, especially with these big, and old, windows in here. We received about 3 and1/2 inches (over 8cm) of rain overnight. We did get some hail here, but it was only a small amount and marble sized. It’s actually going to be a rather wet week with a fair bit of rain coming over the next couple of days. On the plus side, it is supposed to be warm today, 85F (29C) for a high. That’s not so bad! And now for some nice bird pics to share with you today…

In the above pic with have a female hairy woodpecker filling up with sunflower seeds to take back and feed to her young. Both her and the male have been busy doing this for several days now. They have also found that peanuts work great as well.

And in the above photo we have a female goldeneye duck with her family of little ones out for a swim. This is actually the first time I have seen goldeneye ducklings so it was certainly a nice treat for me. I hope you all have a great Monday and God bless!

  1. Good Morning Steve ✨😍 Beautiful birds, hail storm 😳 my god was that scary, I never faced a hail storm but I know it’s dangerous though. My mom just looked at your pic and as usual she loved it, strawberry flowers of yesterday is amazing 😍✨ she loved it so much. Enjoy the beautiful week Steve✨🤗

    • Good morning Simon!😀 You must have been sitting waiting for my post this morning, or evening.😁 My poor flowers are not looking too good this morning, but they will recover. Yes, hailstorms can be very dangerous.😳🙀😲 Hope your day is going well. Glad to hear your mom liked the pics. Say hi to her for me. I’m off to do some shopping. Enjoy your evening!😃😺🌧🌧

      • I’m really late answering, lost my internet due to the storms, had a hard time getting it to work again. Sigh. Yep, still raining, lots of storms, bad ones and a lot more rain coming today. We have already had more than 8 inches of rain. The hail damaged my flowers and now they are drowning! But they will come back again. Enjoy your evening!

      • My gold, that must be a bad storm😳🥺 hope you are safe, and at good height. Is the flood is over? Are you safe from hail storm, that must be a pain. How the cars been saved from hail storm🧐. That is one bad weather. Hope all of you are safe.

      • Yep, we have had several very severe storms, kind of early in the season for such bad storms. One last night produced golf ball size hail, but that storm went just south of us. 😬😲There was also tornado warnings out but none touched down that I know of, might take awhile to find out for sure.🤔 No real flooding problems here except for a few low areas. So much rain!😳😳 Now I can’t go walking to the river for at least several days!🚶‍♂️😭 Sigh.😕 I went yesterday and…had some problems.😁 So I’ll wait.😄🤪 Just raining lightly right now.       • Problems 🙄 what happened? 🧐 Hope you are alright now? This climate is really dangerous, we can’t mess up with weather, but really you got a confusing weather, like multi personality, one day it rains and next day it shines and next day these snow, you got used to it. How about someone from a warmer place 😜😂😂 . Enjoy the climate and be grateful Steve 🤗✨

      • Problems?🤔 Did I say problems?🤔🤪 Well, it was wet and well, you know me, well, the path goes downhill in a few places and because of all the rain parts of that path are just kind of slippery wet mud and well, you know me when things get slippery going downhill and I well, you know me, I go wheeeeee,😄 then AAAAAAAA,😳😳 then splat,😲😲 or was it splash?🤔 Anyway, today my back is sore😬 sore😬 sore😬 and I am stiff and hard to move and well, you know me, things happen.🤪😳🙄 Sigh. Did I explain that good?🤔🙄

      • OMG!! Please please take care, did you see your doctor? Ensure everything is alright and all muscles are in place 😜. But seriously Check if you have any stiffness or pain in some areas.

      • I’ll be okay, a day or two of gentle stretches and I will be good as, um, well, good as a used car!🚂 Legs are stiff but I have been stretching them today.😲 By the time the sun returns I’ll be fine. Hopefully.😁😸

      • I know, I know! The Australian outback! I’m sure they have lots of sand so they probably get sand storms too. Maybe?🤔😜

      • No not China! You’re so not getting there! Where i live there aren’t any sandstorms but this one appeared suddenly out of nowhere!

  3. You just can’t find anything much cuter than a momma duck and all her biddies swimming by. Christobal blew through here last night, still in the area but just rain. A few days ago a real storm came for a visit and took down a large pine tree along with the fence, gate and power lines. The internet went too. Such is life in the country.I do enjoy your photos and stories. Give Muffin a hug from a me.

    • Yes, I always enjoy watching a family of ducks, especially when they are still so tiny. Country living does have a lot of “joys” with it.

    • Rain is very rare in winter in this country except along the west coast, it happens elsewhere too but not often. June is typically our rainiest month of the year.

    • More thunderstorms on the way with severe storms possible tonight again. Right now it’s sunny and getting hot, that part is nice!😃😺🌞😎😽Thanks Ribana!

  8. You take wonderful pictures Steve! We have had cyclone and thunderstorms back to back. Even today, we had heavy rain. Heavy rain is still okay, but heavy storms isn’t. I hope you are doing well! I love the pictures again.. Take care❤️

    • That doesn’t sound like fun, too many storms! Yep, we’re supposed to get a lot of rain the next couple days.

  10. Hey, what would that be like? Here too there have been several thunderstorms and rain is expected throughout the week, but our max temp today was 21C!!!😱❄️

    • Only 19 for us today with rain and thunderstorms all day. We have had over 8 inches (20cm) of rain so far. 2 very bad storms missed us, one last night had hail up to tennis ball size and there was tornado warnings out for us too, but none touched down. Kind of early for such severe weather! Have a great day!😃😺⛈⛈

  11. Loved the pics ! Very clear…I have not seen that kind of woodpecker around here…we get flickers…we never got the storms…just a little rain…more weather alerts for tonight…poor Muffin !☕️☕️🙀☔️☔️‼️
