For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! Another fabulous morning here today, it’s mild, not a breath of air movement, the leaves are perfectly still. The sun is shining brightly on the tops of the trees. The wren has been singing non stop for quite a while, so have other birds like the robin. The song sparrow is singing joyfully, so is the chestnut sided warbler and the red eyed vireo. The phoebe was a little late getting started but is busy singing now. Sir Henry was here for his breakfast, the only gull this morning. Gopher, my squirrel, was here waiting for her breakfast this morning, I think she is just trying to get here before the chipmunks show up. Skamper was the first chipmunk today, followed by Pocket, then Skitter. Haven’t seen the new chipmunk this morning, yet. I still need to name that one. He’s not very brave like the others. I haven’t seen Woody for a couple days, hope nothing happened to him, he was my friendliest squirrel. He does live across the street however and that can be dangerous.
I have lost 4 squirrels that way since moving to this apartment 4 years ago. A light breeze has begun now, gently shaking the leaves, it’s like they are all waving good morning. The cedar waxwings are around as well but are staying higher in the trees so I can’t get a picture of them. They are such a beautiful bird. Muffin has a lot of energy this morning. It was hot in here yesterday so she slept all day, but it cooled off nicely in here now so she is now getting rid of some of that built up energy and she is really flying! I guess it’s time to check out our pics for today. The one at the top is yarrow, a very common wildflower in this area and one that butterflies and bees really like.
In the above pic is a garden variety of yarrow in a nice lavender color, though it is listed as pink. Sorry, but it just doesn’t look pink to me, so I’ll stay with lavender. Either way it’s a nice color and a good addition to a garden if you are looking to attract butterflies. There we have our pics for today, I hope you all have a wonderful Sunday and God bless!
