Good morning everyone! It is a beautiful, sunny summer morning. It is a bit cool at 61F (16C), but it’s still nice though. It’s quite windy this morning as well. Sir George and Lady Pearl were here first again today and Sir Henry was next. Sir Charles wasn’t here this morning. Skamper was first again today, followed by the newest chipmunk who is a baby from this year. Such a small little critter, he can only take one peanut at a time. But that will change as he stretches those cheek pouches of his. So far he is not brave enough to come to me, but I’m sure that will change too. Still need to name that one, I do have a couple of ideas, so he will have a name today. Not as many birds singing now, seems to be fewer each day. The singing time always gets less as the young birds leave the nest and the parents are busy showing them how to survive.
And it is mid July, summer is half gone now. We might even be beyond the half way point if it’s like last year when summer ended in mid August. Summers are short up here in the north. The first of our birds will begin heading south in just 3 weeks time. Terrible thought really. Oh well. It’s nice right now and should be even nicer on Friday. The chipping sparrows are here with their family. The grackles are still coming for peanuts to feed their hungry babies. Those are the purple headed grackles that I am still trying to get pictures of, even one would be nice. The blue headed grackles always seem to be so easy. Maybe today I can do it.
Well, we are back with a couple different bachelor’s buttons again. There are four different colors and we saw two a while back and today we have two more, the blue and lavender at the top and a light lavender below.
I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.
