For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hmm, he gave in to my demand rather quickly, that’s odd I thought to myself. He must have something else planned. Perhaps kidnapping Lena? I will have to watch her closely. “What’s this?,” asked Lena, “we’re going to be criminals now?” Meow?=You want us be criminals? “There’s no other way right now to get Muffin quickly,” I said to them both, “now let’s go to the bedroom and talk this over.” They followed me rather reluctantly. I made sure my little scrambler was working so we could talk privately. I sent a text off quickly, then I got out my laptop and showed them both an email. Mr. Cat’s ears went straight up as he read the email. Lena turned to me. “You mean we’re actually helping the police catch these thieves?”, she asked.
“Yes, that’s it, they have been chasing these thieves for some time, they are responsible for several major jewel thefts across Europe and in the U.S. They just have not been able to get close to them yet,” I explained. Meow!=Oh, this different now, we not be criminals then! Let’s go get that cat! “Not so fast, this will take a little planning,” I said, “there are guards who carry guns in that place, plus a very elaborate alarm system we need to worry about somewhat.” “Just somewhat?”, asked Lena, “I would think we need to worry a lot.” “Actually I don’t want you to come along Lena, it’s too dangerous, and I don’t want anything to happen to you,” I said. Lena just looked at me like she does sometimes. “Too dangerous?”, she asked, “and the last case wasn’t dangerous? I’m coming along and that’s final!”
I look at her and smile. “That’s what I wanted to hear,” I said. She came over and gave me a big hug. Meow.=Too bad you not get diamond like I get. Lena blushed again. We started to make some plans and about an hour later a car drove up to the house. We go in the other room and Mr. Cat and I go outside. Mr. Cat knew what to do and I went over to the car. The back window came down and Muffin was half handed to me. A woman began to talk. “Now you have seen her, so let’s get down to business,” she said. The man holding Muffin started to bring her back into the car but I grabbed his arm and had my gun pointed at the woman. The driver of the car had come around to my side with a rather large knife in his hand. “Hold it,” I said, “tell your man to stop or he will drop dead right now.”
“Hold it Stan,” the woman called out. “Now, let go of Muffin, and I mean it,” I told them with my gun still pointed at the woman. She said to let Muffin go, which the man did and she went running over to Mr. Cat. By this time Lena was on the steps with her gun pointed toward the man beside me with the big knife. “Okay,” I said, “now we can talk.” “We want that Jade Cat and soon,” said the woman. “I am planning on trying tonight,” I told her, “it’s not going to be easy though.” “Good,” she said, “we will be watching you.” “Where do you want me to bring the cat?”, I asked. “Out of the country,” she said. “That’s not going to be easy once they know the cat is missing,” I told them, “unless it’s someplace we can drive.” “It will be,” she said, “you will be informed once you have the Jade Cat. Come back here first and wait for our call.”
Then they drove away. It wasn’t too long after that our helper arrived. He’s a police officer, his name is Bernard, that is also an alarm systems expert. He will disable the alarm system at the museum so we can quietly steal the Jade Cat and hopefully get out without getting caught. I would like that too. If we do get caught, then Bernard will give himself up which should distract the guards long enough that we can get away. If we do have to shoot our way out, we are supposed to try and not hit anyone. That’s fine, I thought, but I wish the guards were being told that important info too. Oh well. This will certainly be a different experience for all of us. It’s midnight, we managed to get inside without any difficulty and we are in a small room where the panel for the alarm system is located. I am listening at the door, footsteps are coming this way…
To Be Continued.

She is Muffin, can’t fool Mr. Cat on that one, he would be able to tell without even getting close to her. But no time to check her out now while on the job, just have to hope she’s okay.π³πΎππ΅οΈββοΈ
