Steve’s Bird Of The Day #12.

Hi everyone, welcome back to our bird series! Here we have probably my favorite sparrow species and our largest, the fox sparrow. He is so called because of his bright rusty colored tail and that color is found right through the plumage of this bird. It is heavily striped and blends in well with it’s habitat. Usually one hears this bird before seeing it. They love to scratch in the dead grass and leaves like chickens and they can get quite vigorous and loud when they are doing this. They also arrive early in the spring and leave quite late in the fall. But they never seem to show up in large flocks like the other sparrows. They mostly head further north for nesting. We will be back next week with more birds, have a wonderful weekend and God bless!
