Coffee At Steve’s Country #69.

Good morning everyone! It’s cloudy here this morning at Steve’s Country with a temp of 23F (-5C). But the coffee is nice and hot and just the way you like it, so, help yourself, sit back and relax for a few minutes. There’s not many birds around this morning, now with the nicer weather they don’t need to come around much. But there is a few chickadees, a nuthatch, a hairy woodpecker, plus Baxter and Betty the blue jays. The other day when I went down to the river there were birds everywhere, chirping away as they searched the trees for tiny insects hiding behind the bark for the winter.

At the river.

It seemed like most trees all the way along the path had birds checking them out. Twice a chickadee came and landed on a tree right next to me, looking over at me and chirping, then flying off once more to continue it’s search among the branches for more insects. And down at the river there were ducks, a lot of them, both common goldeneye and Barrow’s goldeneye.

A nice place to sit and enjoy the scenery.

On the way back I noticed that someone had brought a huge amount of sunflower seeds and dumped them right along by the path. It was obviously done after I had passed by there going to the river. And Theodore was there feasting away, but when he saw me off he ran into the trees. Either he didn’t recognize me out there, or it was a different turkey. But it sure was quite a contrast to other times walking to the river when I wouldn’t see or hear any birds. Yet this day the woods were alive with bird activity.

Such a nice place to spend a sunny afternoon.

It really sounded, and looked, so nice indeed. It showed that spring is not too far away perhaps. Although for awhile at least, it will be postponed by some cooler weather. But daytime temps will still be in the 37 to 41 F (3 to 5C), except for a few days that will stay below freezing. The snow is mostly gone now and that is nice, the remainder will melt more slowly, unless there is a sudden change in the forecast. Hmm, I think the blue jays need more peanuts. Have a wonderful day and God bless!

Take rest and avoid walking around, you can enjoy the nature once you lose the pain. 😉👍 spring is coming, we need fresh photos for the year…😁 and get ready 😉 Theodore has huge feast it seems, maybe on that confusion he ran away, is this called having hangover with sunflower seed consumption 😜😂 I’m late for the night, so good night for now, enjoy the beautiful day 💐🤗

  4. Steve, glad you are getting warmer weather. Here in the far north it is snowing several more inches over the snow we have been getting daily. Although we get more sunlight, it still gets below zero F at night. We have about 5 feet of snow on the ground and I hope it melts in early May! Have a wonderful day!

    • Wow, that’s a lot of snow! This has been incredibly early for us this year, I can only remember one other year we had weather like this so early. But it has cooled off again so no melting for a couple days, then the weekend should be nice, then back to cooler weather again. Kind of an odd spring but a nice change from the last few years. But we could get more snow yet, March is our snowiest month of the year. Have a great evening!
