Coffee At Steve’s Country #83.

Good morning everyone! It’s a bit cooler today, that north wind last night brought in some cold again. It’s supposed to stay cooler now for a few days. That will slow down the spring migration which was just getting started. Oh well. It will pick up again. Anyway, the coffee is nice and hot and lots for everyone! Poor Jasper was having a hard time with Freddie the front yard squirrel yesterday afternoon. Jasper should have left him alone the other day. Those two are quite evenly matched, they might have to learn to share, even if they grumble a bit. There’s lots of peanuts for both.

Not sure what that white thing is on Lady Pearl’s beak.

Then Jasper was eating some sunflower seeds on the feeder and suddenly he spots Coffee bouncing across the deck to the peanuts. He started his squirrel dance again and took off! Around the box they went, then Coffee went in the box coming out the other side…behind Jasper. Now Coffee was chasing and I’m sure Jasper didn’t know it was Coffee, he just ran, until, he stopped. Coffee ran into him. Poor Jasper. He shot straight up in the air and both he and Coffee disappeared in different directions. Neither one came back for awhile. Jasper still seems to be a bit nervous, like last year. I thought maybe he had gotten over that. Oh well, it does add extra fun to the day. Though I’m sure Jasper would not agree.

Both geese were swinging their heads and necks around while swimming.

I walked down to the river yesterday afternoon, it’s all nice walking now, though there is little bits of ice here and there, but ample room to walk around them. There were chickadees and nuthatches hopping from branch to branch looking for food. Gulls were flying overhead. And at the river there was a couple pairs of Canada geese. At first they were on shore eating, then they went swimming up the river. The river is still very low, this is more like it would be in summer, so it’s starting off bad and all the snow is gone now.

Scramble.

Could mean a dry spring and summer. Scramble was out as well. That’s my friendly squirrel on the way to the river. I like to bring peanuts for him and he’s always excited to get them. He usually eats the first one and then hides the rest for later. It was a nice day for a walk although the wind was a bit cool at times right at the river. It was a beautiful walk. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!

    • Well, Jasper doesn’t need to worry about Scramble, he lives much too far away. Yes, it’s nice to walk down there and watch whatever happens to be happening!πŸ˜πŸ“·
