We were just talking more about different cases we have been on. Well, they were talking and I was trying hard to remember something, anything, from what they said. But there was absolutely nothing. “You know, that first Japanese doctor was removed, probably because he wouldn’t go along with this plan, having this probe in my brain,” I said, “but the retired doctor was will to go along with it. Maybe we need to go and talk to him.” “That might be a good idea,” said Lena, “once you are well enough to travel again. You’re going to rest for a while first though.” Meow, meow.=No time for vacation, need to find out what going on, and fast. Meow.=Yep, or human Steve might not be around much longer. “Hmm, I guess you’re right,” sighed Lena, “I would like to get this figured out too. I’m just worried about you Steve.”
“Well, there will be more to worry about if we don’t get this mystery solved quickly,” I said. Right then a nurse came in and said it was time for a needle. I’m getting to feel like a pincushion. Then Muffin got in between us and started growling and hissing at the nurse. “Get that thing away from me,” she shouted. Lena jumped in and grabbed the nurses hand, the one holding the needle and started yelling for help. Another nurse came in and between him and Lena they got the needle away from the first nurse. Then security came in and took the nurse. The second nurse took the needle away with him. Meow, meow.=She not good person, I could tell, she want to hurt you.
“Thanks Muffin,” I said, “you did the right thing.” The doctor came in a short time later and said there was enough poison in that needle to kill me in less than 5 minutes. He said one of their security people would be outside my door at all times. Also that nurse didn’t even work here. “What’s wrong with your paw Muffin?”, I asked her. Meow, meow.=It sore, been sore for couple days, but worse now. I asked the doctor if he could take a look and he did. He left and came back later with some things and a needle. Meow, meow!=Not like needles, they hurt! The doctor said it was just something to freeze her foot so he could remove something inside.
It wasn’t long and he had removed a small device. Meow.=That tracking device, that how they follow us. The doctor then checked Mr. Cat too and sure enough he had one in his foot too. That must have happened when they first took us and put that probe in my head. Good thing that device was starting to hurt Muffin’s foot. “Call Baldwin and see if he can get some of his security team over here,” I said to Lena. She called and told Baldwin what had happened and there was 4 of his security people here within two hours. They would work in shifts, two at a time. So the hospital took their security person off. “This is just crazy,” I said, “someone is trying to kill me even though I can’t remember anything.” “Hmm, that might be a good sign Steve,” said Lena, “maybe they know your loss of memory will only be temporary.”
“Well, that is a nice thought,” I said. Then more pictures of people came to mind…and voices…but not clear enough to hear what they said. Muffin and Mr. Cat were there too, but asleep. Faces…I can’t make out who it is…frustrating. I shook my head and told them about what had come to mind just then. “Maybe that’s the night you were kidnapped,” said Lena, “if it comes back you need to try and focus on it, maybe we can learn something.” I had a private room, Baldwin insisted, and they brought in a bed for Lena. Why is Baldwin helping so much? Why is Lena helping? The cats came over to hug me goodnight, it was time to sleep again. They whispered to me that they would keep watch tonight. Meow, meow.=Something not right, I feel it. Meow.=Yep, I feel too, not good, we need to leave here soon. More danger, I’m thinking. And I’m no help. I’m just frustrated…and still nowhere.
To Be Continued.
