Hi everyone! Yes, I’m late with today’s wildflower, that’s what happens when I forget to hit the schedule button. Oh well. Today’s wildflower is the “bush honeysuckle”. Other names for this plant are northern bush honeysuckle or northern honeysuckle. This is not actually a true honeysuckle however as it does not produce berries, only seeds. There are other small differences too. This is a woody, native wildflower that likes shade or partial shady locations and preferring rocky or sandy soils. It blooms on 1 year old branches and the flowers start out yellow and turn orange and red as the flowers age. It blooms from June to July and the plant will grow from 1 to 3 feet (30 to 90cm) tall. It can be found in Canada from SK in the west right to the east coast and in the US from ND to the east coast and as far south as Georgia. Here it is quite common in wooded and rocky areas. No, it’s not a honeysuckle, they just call it a honeysuckle because it sort of looks the same, and it must have a sweet nectar because bees really like it!🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝

How about that, mine are the same way today. I figured it’s because the smoke is so thick today, it’s real bad. Blocked the sun all day, except at times it showed up as a red ball. Getting a bit hard to breathe tonight.

That smoke is back, real bad today, getting hard to breathe. And it’s just as bad inside and outside. Maybe a walk would help, if I could make it to the river it would be nicer down there. But I have to make it back too.

Yepper!! I sent off another 4 job apps today. Hopefully one will come through. I had to take a PI Behavioral Assessment for one of them.

Good idea. I think. Final chapter is out. Wow, this smoke is so bad, getting hard on my throat and lungs. It’s been a long time since I smelled it this bad and it just keeps getting worse by the hour. Even having fans on doesn’t help at all.😳🔥🔥

No real rain except maybe some light showers for the next week anyway. Lots of sun and warm temps. We are now in a restricted fire zone with some travel restrictions as well. 8 new fires reported today and they are checking out a dozen more reports now.

I have a shower. This afternoon I thought I saw pieces of ash falling, but I said, no, can’t be. I just went to water my plants and they, plus my deck were covered with small pieces of ash.😳😬

Well, there’s only 23 fires out of control and 2 supposedly being held, which doesn’t mean much. Someone is setting off fireworks right now, guess they haven’t heard the fun news that’s now illegal. Tomorrow is Canada Day our national holiday which this year we are not allowed to celebrate.

I didn’t really do much except some cleaning. Was out for a bit trying to get some pics. Got a few this morning, but everything was hiding this afternoon. Hmm, smoke is getting thick again, but there’s no wind now.

Yep, get them while they are still small. However, one went from 28,000 acres this morning to 38,000 acres by this evening. And there was barely a breeze today.

Not really🤔🤔 I have heard it is very interesting. There are photos and artifacts from the fire. I would like to stop there sometime. My brother lives not too far from there.

SK is the Canadian province of Saskatchewan, ND is the American state of North Dakota. It’s just easier sometimes to use the abbreviations for the names.😁😁 Which means that sometimes I’m lazy!😂😂😹😹

We haven’t had any rain for quite a while and there’s none in the forecast for the next week, except maybe some light showers today and tonight. Not enough to help though. Those fires will be burning for a long time.
