For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to all of you on this beautiful Wednesday! It is a nice crisp morning with a temp of -13F (-25C). However, it is the wind that makes a difference, and today it is windy, so the temp feels more like -33F (-36C). That wind can just blow right through a person, any exposed skin really feels it. But it is winter, and it is not as bad as the cold days we experienced last week. Plus, it is not supposed to get cold like they initially forecast, though it will still be cold. So that is good as well.
And next week is supposed to be quite mild, very nice indeed. That means walking to the river will begin again. I am certainly looking forward to that. There are a lot of birds again this morning. Everyone is busy at their favorite feeder, happily feasting away. It is quite amazing how many sunflower seeds each grosbeak can eat. And they eat them fast. And those little redpolls keep running around in the midst of the grosbeaks going through the shells to pick up bits of seeds that get left behind.
They work good together so nothing is wasted. There is a little chickadee in their favorite bush opening a sunflower seed, well, actually there are several chickadees in that bush. Anyway, this one is pounding away at his seed, but he drops the seed after breaking open the shell and he dives down after it, catching it in mid air before it hits the snow. To these little birds, food is a valuable resource and they don’t want to waste any of it. Even if it drops in the snow, they will still dig around for it.
They don’t waste their food. People could learn some good lessons watching these birds. Jasper and Garnet come around each day, but Garnet has learned to come when Jasper is not here, therefore there is no fighting. But sometimes Jasper comes while Garnet is here and the chase is on. Hmm, looks like the birds might need a refill at the feeders. And I need a refill of coffee. Thank you for reading today. I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday and God bless!

Yes, that wind is terrible. Cold without the wind is more bearable. Unless it drops below -40 like last week.π₯Ά
