For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Happy Friday everyone! I am super late with my morning post today, it is not even morning anymore. Oh well, things happened this morning which put me way behind schedule. It was nothing bad, just ended up being a busy morning which I wasn’t expecting. It was nice and sunny again this morning, with that most beautiful blue sky. Now it is cloudy, and a bit milder than yesterday. And it is supposed to snow a bit later today and tonight. But it should not be very much snow.
At least, that is what the forecast says. However, I can remember times when they forecast an inch (2.5cm) of snow and we ended up getting 6 inches (15cm). Hopefully that will not be the case today. There are lots of redpolls again today, and there are over 20 evening grosbeaks today as well. They have been feasting here all morning, but I think they have gone now. I have not seen any pine grosbeaks however, but it is March now and they will all be gone soon, just as most have already headed north.
Hmm, the evening grosbeaks have returned once more. Guess they just left for some flying exercise. Those birds can fly, fast and erratic, when they want to, or need to, if an enemy shows up. They sure can eat too, and fast! Muffin is laying in front of the window watching all the action outside. There is no frost on the window now so she can see everything going on out there. She enjoys that. Especially with the quick movements of the redpolls and the constant “arguing” of the evening grosbeaks.
That provides a lot of entertainment for her. Hmm, all the excitement of bird watching has made Muffin tired, so she has decided it is time for her afternoon nap now. So she is curled up on top of the TV cabinet. That way she is close at hand in case something real exciting happens outside. Speaking of, she just woke up and looked outside again. Oh, a squirrel showed up, most likely Jasper. He was here earlier this morning too, but just for a short time. Thank you so much for stopping by today, I hope you have a fantastic Friday and God bless!

have you noticed if you are able to predict the weather based on the birds’ behavior?

Yes indeed! But not so much for short term, better at long term. But also quite well for storms, both winter and summer.

do the birds outperform the weathermen?

When I lived in the country I could forecast the whole winter quite accurately by watching the birds. Better average than the weathermen for sure. In town it’s a little harder since there are fewer species of birds to watch and some species act differently in town. But I did get it right for a cold, snowy and long winter. I only missed the first part about being an early winter, when it turned out to be normal instead. I had even said that Jan and Feb would give us our most snow, which is definitely not normal.

you should offer your weather forecasts to the public!

That might be a little difficult, but fun.

Yes, Muffin so much enjoys watching everything going on outside so she is happy she can see out the window again. She will be even happier once it is warm enough to have the windows open in spring!π»π

We never got any more snow either…however, we may tomorrow…restrictions have been lifted, but when Larry went shopping there were still a lot of people wearing masks…our provincial government advised that we should still wear masks for awhile longer…glad Muffin can look outside now β€οΈ …have a peaceful sleep tonight ! ππ»π΄

Our restrictions are gone now except masks which will stay until closer to the end of the month, maybe sooner. I will keep wearing mine until winter is over anyway. Have a good night!ππ»ππ΄π΄
