The Investigators, Inc. The Castle Mystery. Chapter 17.

Meanwhile back home…Meow.=Me worried about Muffin, want to know if she okay. “Don’t worry MC, I’m sure they are all fine,” I said to him, “we just need to concentrate on getting better by the time they return.” Meow.=Me better now, want to go help. “Chung said you are not quite ready for action yet,” I explained, “you need to rest more. How come you are not with Carine?” Meow.=She sleeping. She sleep lots. “Yes, that arrow had poison on it,” I told him, “it is amazing she is even alive.”

Meow.=And that make me more worried for Muffin and others. I put him on top of me and hug him. I am still in bed at the clinic, along with Carine, Kristina, and of course, Kat. The others are doing better and are at the chateau, although Annelie will be coming in for more x-rays today, the doctor seemed quite concerned about her leg. Just then Kat woke up. She had been poisoned and the doctor said she had no sign of life, but Chung was able to get her back somehow with a blood transfusion and giving her an herb mixture.

He can do wonders with those herbs of his. Baldwin is getting him a larger supply of herbs now. So Kat should be back to normal soon. We are supposed to be safe here, rather than in a regular hospital, and yet it did not work out that way this time. I have to admit, I am worried about the others too, just like MC. They are supposed to check in every half hour with Baldwin, but I have not heard anything.

Back at the chateau…”It has been 2 hours with no word from them,” said Baldwin, “and they will not answer my calls.” “They might be underground in those corridors,” said Kara, “things do not work well down there.” “That is true,” agreed Annelie. “How is that leg?”, asked Baldwin. “Well, to be honest it pains a lot,” she said, “I am kind of worried about it.” “Okay, back to the clinic for you,” said Baldwin and he drove her back to get those x-rays done.

She has been using crutches to walk around and even then the pain was terrible, worse than she was admitting. “The problem is actually your hip,” said the doctor, “it is badly cracked, it needs to be replaced.” Annelie already figured it was her hip and she was not thrilled about the idea of a hip replacement, but it was something that had to be done.

Meanwhile, back at the castle…”There does not appear to be a door out of this room either,” said Jennifer. Rock lifted up the seat of a large chair in the room and there was a whizzing noise, Rock groaned and fell to his knees. A fairly large arrow was in his back. It was obviously rigged, lifting the seat set that arrow in motion. “It did not go in far,” said Harris, “but I will need to pull it out.” “Go ahead Harris,” said Rock. Harris pulled carefully and steadily and out it came.

Rock was bleeding a lot now, which probably helped him. “It may have had poison on it,” said Candace, “since it was obviously meant to protect something.” “After all this time the poison is likely not going to do much,” said Angel. Jennifer looked at her. “I have studied these things a bit,” she said, “but it would depend what kind of poison it was too.” “Thanks for adding that little extra tidbit,” said Jennifer. She disinfected the wound the best she could and put a large bandage on it, wrapping it on good and tight.

Then they all looked inside the chair. “This looks exactly like that throne chair at the end of the hall on the main floor,” said Candace, “and now I remember who that ghost was, it is Gregory!” Meow,meow.=He man who have sister that human Kat kill in fight. “That is why we have had so many problems on this case,” said Jennifer, “he has been trying to kill all of us, plus get the treasure too. We need to find a way out of here before he gets away!” “Let’s go back down and I will try to open that iron gate again,” said Rock as he stands up, “I am getting a little angry about now.”

Down they went and Rock started pulling at that door. It took a while but it started to move and finally he pulled it right down. “Okay everyone, be careful, he may have others helping him,” said Jennifer, and off they went. Unfortunately by the time they got back upstairs they noticed the helicopter was gone and the two men guarding it had been killed. “He got away from us,” said Angel, very disappointed. But at least now they could call for help, which Jennifer did right away. As she was on the phone with Baldwin, Rock began shaking and fell to the ground, unconscious…
