Sure, have a couple, I’m eating right now, so so good! Nice and sunny today, warming up slowly, its already 39 and heading up to 50! Yep, it has been a great day! Sunny and warm mostly with a high of 59, our warmest day yet. And the next 2 days will be even nicer before the clouds come back in. I’m hoping to head off to the river tomorrow, providing I can get past the water hole.🤔😂😹🚶♂️

Hi, I’m back, had an attack of pain so had to get up for a bit, that woke up Muffin so she wanted food. Now I’m back hopefully. Yes, hopefully I can get a lot of pics indeed!😁📷 I’m kinda looking at this year as my last for walks to the river.😟🚶♂️

It’s still melting and maybe the ground hasn’t completely thawed yet.

The ground is still frozen which helped me get through the water. The ground was still hard so I could make it when normally my foot would have disappeared in the soggy ground. But I have never seen so much water in that one spot! And still more snow to melt. Mostly the snow is gone, but in 2 places I had to walk through snow that was up to 18 inches deep still.😬😬🙄🙄

Yeah, this weather is sure making our snow free season a bit shorter than normal. May is supposed to be cooler and wetter than normal, so I hope June is better.

Well, after the thumb it used to be called the dialing finger but since we don’t dial phones anymore it had to be changed to pointing finger. Then there is the middle finger that proves the thumb is a finger or it wouldn’t be in the middle. Then there is the finger that doesn’t move around much. Then there is baby pinky finger. See? No, I was too busy with other things today, plus trying to get some pictures of the birds before they disappear on me. I have been trying to get a pic of a mourning dove, it was out here eating seeds, but so far nothing. Now it’s going to rain for 2 days.🤔🙄☔🌧️

Cool! They are one of the few birds I could identify when I was a kid, we had a lot where we lived back then. I would get up early, open my window and listen to them, I loved their cooing song, still do, one of my favorite summer sounds!😁

Looks like the not so subtle work of a PI, it is quite common. Perhaps someone is trying to get some info about you. I would say you will need a good lawyer in the not too distant future. Think perhaps: health claims.

Possibly, that is often the case in things like this. But honestly, they just try to look for you to do something that they don’t think you should be doing if your health is bad enough you need to work from home. Even the fact of living where you are now. I could be wrong, but, I have had some personal experience in this. You really should contact the police about this, it could be something else, like someone just watching you for burglary purposes. Oddly, someone did something similar to me one time as well.

I am going to go ask the neighbors if it’s theirs. If not then I’ll see about the police. No one but my family has this address and I don’t have my mail forwarded here bt the post office I have a family member do it. So I’m hoping it’s the neighbors camera and a friend with the camera.

If it is a neighbor then what they are doing is illegal anyway. Unless it’s different down there, but here it is against the law to take pictures at someone’s house. I hope it is something simple, but if not then you really need to call the police, that way you can find out who is behind it. Believe it or not a PI can find you anywhere. I’m not trying to alarm, just a caution. A similar thing almost landed me in jail.

Kinda cool and wet. It was only 50 today, which is not bad, but normal is 65. We didn’t get much rain though so that was nice. My mourning dove never came back, sigh. But hopefully he will another day. We had a good service this morning, until 2 people got mad at each other afterwards. Sigh. Is it really so hard to be nice to each other for an hour?

I already have a Freddie the squirrel, so Fred the chipmunk would be confusing. Well, everyone gets the same chance so ya never know. Muffin had to mix them up, after I already had done that in front of her! She didn’t think I did a good enough job. Amazing.

Well, it was rather getting kinda dark out there. Those clouds make it get dark earlier. I heard all kinds of robins singing, and my mourning dove and some sparrows. Must have been at least 2 robins!😊😺☔

Yep, she gets her daily exercise, naps, lots of stretching, looking outside at the birds and squirrels, sniffing fresh air now that I can open windows, although I actually open windows every day of the year!😂😂😹😹

Yep, Muffin likes it for a short time, just don’t overdo it. But it also depends on the day for her too, some days I can rub her tummy for quite a while, other days just briefly.🤔🙄😻

Yeah, remember I mentioned a while back about missing papers, lawyer, govt, that sort of thing? Heard back from the lawyer today, unfortunately. The papers might be too late now, won’t know for a while though, depends how fast the govt works. There could be some serious consequences, like big fine and other stuff.

Well, that’s a bit much, I can take nearly 400 pics with this battery fully charged and I know I haven’t done that yet. However, it is getting old so it may not hold a charge good anymore or may not charge fully, whichever. And that was probably my only chance too, every year he is only here one day, then he moves on. The females stay around several days, but not the males. Sigh.🙄🙄📷☔☔

Not to be a complainer..😬 but my feet and legs were very unhappy on my walk today!!😳 it took two and a half miles before they stopped hurting and loosened up so I could walk normally 🥴🥴

They sound so nice. I used to go out at night to different places and call for owls. They would answer and often come up quite close in the trees around me. One time 2 barred owls landed on the branch of a pine tree just 6 feet away from me! They are big owls.😁🦉🦉

Great horned owls will attack people, protecting nests mainly, but people wearing fur hats have been attacked too. A forest ranger in MN was attacked and killed by one, he was wearing a fur hat. They can hit with amazing force!🤔😬🦉

I’ve seen lots, the tiny saw-whet owl, long-eared owl, short-eared owl, great horned owl, barred owl, great gray owl, snowy owl, hawk owl. Plus I have heard others. I have held the saw-whet and great gray owls.

Lots of birds around today. Two of those rose-breasted grosbeaks were here, 4 times, and I still did not get a picture. I would have once since the one grosbeak did not fly when I went outside, but a grackle came along and scared it away before I had a chance to click. Amazing timing really.🙄🙄🙄

I think it got left behind somewhere.😂😹 My idea ran into a slight problem since I had been hoping to leave it out all the time, but I have to figure out an idea to make it locked in place so the raccoons can’t unhook it. And that’s a problem since I can’t reach out that far.🤔

That is a good point indeed. Did you have your walk today? I made it to the river, no snow left back there at all and that worst water part wasn’t bad at all, but someone had dug a spot out so it could drain faster so that was nice. It was cloudy all the time, but bright cloud and hardly any wind which was nice too.😁🚶♂️🌞📷

Good, feet doing okay? Yes, I really didn’t think I would be able to cross that area. The river is up another 2 feet after our last rain and they have rainfall warnings out for us for tomorrow, maybe another 2 inches of rain, not bad really but because everything is saturated now it all runs off into the lake and river. That could push the river to record high level. 1 more foot hits the record. Quite a few of those big pines are already out in the water now, some are about 6 feet from shore. Amazing how they can survive being drowned like that.🤔

Yep, we have a big thunderstorm coming at us right now, lots of thunder in it. So if I suddenly disappear you know my electricity is gone. Those thunderstorms are supposed to continue through the night and tomorrow too. That river could set a new record high this year. The dam is already fully open. The birds have nearly all gone for the night already, probably because of the storm coming.🤔😬😲☔☔☔

Yeah, I got wet going out to feed Sir Henry and get the feeders in. Muffin has come out of hiding, but she is still scared. She is staying beside me.😊🙀

Muffin suddenly went up to the window, but scared like. I knew what that meant, a bear! Sure enough a big black bear was on the deck! That means he wasn’t far away when I was outside! When I’m taking pics I concentrate on that and I don’t really pay attention to what else is going on around me!😬🙀😲😮🐻

Yes, they are amazingly quiet when just walking around. This was just 3pm! I will need to be very careful when bringing in the feeders and putting them out in the morning now.😬🙀🐻

No, the storm was mostly finished by then, just raining. Although lightning and thunder continued but it was further away to the south. It is very windy right now, those trees are really swaying out there!

I’m back! Sorry about my sudden departure, but Sir Henry showed up for supper, a bit late. Then when I went out I scared the birds, including that Mourning dove. So I decided to stay a bit and see if he would come back. But it has really cooled off out there so I was about to come back in and the dove came flying in and landed on the ground with the other birds. So I got several pics of him!! I’m jumping happy!! I have been trying each year since I got my camera in 2018. Wheeeeeee! Yeah, I’m crazy, can’t help it.

Yeah, it feels good to finally accomplish that goal. And today I also got some great pics of the rose-breasted grosbeak, much better than the one I showed in todays post! So another goal captured which has also been ongoing just as long! There are 3 of those grosbeaks around now and they have been here all week which is also a first time. I actually prayed that God would give me a good picture of one today and I got several! I’m happy as a gull with a french fry!

I wasn’t sitting, I was standing the whole time. Can’t see much sitting down, so I stood out there for hours taking pictures. Well, 2 hours anyway. I also did my driveway walking, did some paperwork for church, cleaned the bathroom, spent an hour looking for something that I couldn’t find, did some blog reading, wrote only one post today, sorted a bunch of pictures, about 500, had a nap since I only got 5 hours sleep last night but I feel bad going through a whole day without accomplishing much important. Sigh.🙄😟 But I did get those 2 birds!!😁

I’m back again. Got up to feed Muffin and was hit with paralyzing pain knocking me to the floor. Took me a bit to get back to my chair. That was bad. Guess I was standing too long today, walking is easier than standing.

Oh, I saw 4 vultures picking away at a dead racoon on my walk today!! They are a very large creature and not easily spooked. I walked within 3 feet of one and he just stood the eyeballing me!!

No, that’s true, they are much nicer looking when they are soaring overhead. I saw my first vulture of the year two days ago, very late, which is the norm this year. I should probably get the feeders in before it gets dark.

I got a text from a Mollie today with a link to an application to Whole Foods Market in a nearby city and said they would train me. But the website had only generic job information. I must filled out an application with them at one point, otherwise I’m not sure how they got my cell number. Do you think I should pursue it?🤔

I don’t know, depends what the job is I suppose. How far would the drive be, would the pay be worthwhile. Wouldn’t hurt to check it out, if it isn’t what you’re looking for you don’t need to take it.

Here it is considered not safe before June 8, though in town its a bit different because we have a slightly warmer climate than the surrounding area so Victoria Day is safe here normally, which is May 23.

We are actually right on the northern edge of their range and they nest in town here. I have never seen any outside of town though. Out west they go further north than us which I thought was kind of interesting. A pair used to nest in a tree of another place where I lived in town, but I never had a camera then.

I need a break alright, this business meeting has been kinda stressful preparing for, talking with people all through the week, getting prepared for all the questions that will happen. Not much in the way of pics today, though I did try. The birds and clouds were not cooperating. As soon as a bird got nicely positioned in the sun, I would get ready and a cloud would block the sun. Sigh. Happened several times with the hummingbird and the purple head grackle. oh well, maybe tomorrow. No Cardinals this far north unfortunately.

Yes, they are really not that far south and I did see a couple of females here one year. It’s kind
of odd they haven’t made their way up here yet.

But they are a deciduous loving bird, mostly where there is lots of maple and oak, which we don’t have.

No, that would take a lot of planting, they want large numbers, not just a few. And those trees require deep soil for their roots which we don’t have here. That’s why we have mainly coniferous trees who have shallow roots.

Each area has its unique bird population of resident birds, then the summer residents too which are shared more widely.

No I thought it was very well done. I just dealing with a little bit of disappointment today. But hey.. that’s life, that’s how things go somedays.

Yep, I agree, they are no fun, but we have to try and not let them get us down, which is not always easy I know. Speaking of disappointments of a different kind, I just heard on the weather channel that we are supposed to get a “significant snow event” this coming weekend which could set a new record for us here in Kenora!! We don’t often get mentioned, but they singled us out for this one. I will admit, I don’t want to see more snow until next winter.😬😬
