Solitude For Saturday. #2

Hello everyone and Happy Saturday! It is a mild morning once again, but it is cloudy today, though the forecast from yesterday said it would be sunny today. But it was supposed to be sunny yesterday too, and it was mostly cloudy. Oh well, it is warmer than normal for this time of year, so that is a good thing anyway. And the mild weather is supposed to stay with us until Wednesday or Thursday, so that is even nicer.

And, the sun is shining, it is just behind the clouds for now. There was a new influx of juncos overnight and there are dozens of them here this morning. I even saw a couple of sparrows, one was a tree sparrow, so the other likely was too. They are normally the last of the sparrows to head south. All my regular birds are here this morning. It is nice standing out on the deck with my coffee, listening to all the birds chattering, watching them come to the feeder.

Looking across a small lake.

One little nuthatch landed on me while waiting her turn at the feeder. I should have had some seeds with me. For a time it was very quiet out there, except for the birds chirping. No vehicles were driving past. Only a light wind moving the tops of the trees. Solitude. The chickadees were busy singing their name loud and clear. The nuthatches were calling back and forth with their familiar “beeping” call.

Looking out away from town, close to our airport.

At least 3 of them will land on the cup of seeds when I come out in the morning with fresh food. Solitude. I must try to get them to land on my hand again. I so enjoy when they do that. The females land so gently they can barely be felt. The males grab on a little tighter. The chickadees are the same. It is just such a great feeling. Solitude. Although the colors were extra short this autumn, they were still beautiful.

Today I show some pictures from other years when the colors were much better. Most of the autumn pictures I have shown recently were from other years. We just did not get a good show this year. But those colors, even though short lives, are so beautiful. The wonderful part of fall. Solitude. Just put out some more sunflower seeds.

Just across the street from where I live.

Two chickadees landed on my hand to get seeds, without hesitation. That is solitude. That is amazing. For those who may be wondering, I got nothing accomplished yesterday, it had to be a rest day. The pain became nearly unbearable by afternoon, so I spent the time lying down instead. Feeling quite a bit better today, but it’s still bad, so it is another rest day. Thank you so much for reading today, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and God bless!
