The Investigators, Inc. The Accidental Murder Case. Chapter 18. Getting Away.

Once John and Cindy got out of town, Cindy really got that car moving. “I want to put some distance between them and us,” she said to John. “Just keep us on the road Crystal,” he replied, “just keep us on the road.” She laughed a bit. “Nice to hear my own name again,” she said, “by the way, what happens to the money we got from the Major?” “Steve said we could keep it,” replied John, “so we split it. Steve said it was danger pay.” Crystal laughed again.

“I have to admit,” she said, “I was not so sure we would get out of there alive after I slapped Six. I just kind of lost it when he slapped me like that.” “I was thinking the same thing,” said John, “especially when I saw the Major bring out his gun. But he was planning to shoot Six. And by now, Six will be dead along with that cop.” “Oh, that is why the Major said for Clarence and Donny to come back and not mention Six,” she said. “Yep, in an organization like that,” said John, “if you tell your boss to ‘shut up’, then they make sure that you shut up, permanently.

Um, I think you can slow down a bit now, we do not want to attract the attention of the police while carrying all this money.” “Oh yeah, good thought,” she admitted, and slowed down, “are all cases like this?” “No,” said John, “some are worse.” She looked over at him with big eyes. John just laughed nice and loud. “You just wait Johnny!” she exclaimed. “Hey, only Clarence can call me that,” said John. “Try and stop me,” she said, laughing.

Meanwhile… “Okay everyone,” I said, “if John and Cindy did get to see the Major, they are likely gone now.” Just then John called and let me know they were on their way home, and that we better hurry and get out of the castle. “Grab this stuff and pack the cars,” I said, “we will take as much as we can. All the drugs for sure, some of the money and some of the weapons. It will look like Alonzo has begun clearing things out of here. And we leave the door open to Mandi’s bedroom.”

“Why is that?” asked Galyna. “It will look like Alonzo came and killed Mandi,” I said, “which is what he did anyway. Perhaps to keep her silent so he could take everything and disappear, without her being able to tell anyone what he was up to.” “I hope the Major catches up to him,” said Sky, “he has done too much killing already. And those drugs will kill a lot more.” “Yeah,” said Kristina, “but I suppose that Victor and the Major are even worse.”

“That is true enough,” I said, “but we are not after them, the police are doing their own investigation into Victor and his syndicate. Hopefully they will stop him at some point.” “Yes, it is just too bad it takes so long to stop the big ones,” said Sky. “Then someone else comes along to take their place,” added Angel. “Never ending fight,” I said, “but we keep trying.” We had found a warning alarm earlier, which I figure is there to alert Alonzo of anyone getting in here to steal ‘his’ stuff.

I had deliberately set it off just before we began taking things out to our cars. That would give us just enough time to pack up and get out of here before he and his men arrived. And hopefully the Major would be along soon as well so they can both have their meeting here at the castle. I doubt that Alonzo will enjoy that meeting, however. I also hope that the Major has enough men with him to take care of Alonzo. I certainly did not have to worry about that one, the Major did have more men with him, though only two more.

But that is enough when you have experienced men compared to Alonzo and his men. We made it away safely and only about 5 minutes behind us the Major and his men arrived and easily found their way below the castle. We deliberately left all the doors open to the passageways to make it easier for them. So, they were waiting patiently for Alonzo, who was very surprised to see the Major. Alonzo only had 4 men with him which were taken care of very quickly.

Alonzo tried to convince the Major that he was being set up, but the evidence against him was just too overwhelming. The Major and his men removed the remaining money and guns and destroyed everything else. Once they were gone the police moved in to pick up the pieces. They did not want to intervene right now, it would jeopardize their operation to stop Victor. So, they reluctantly let the Major get away.

We met with Rossana at another town and handed over what we had recovered to the police. Then we headed back home. This was certainly not what we expected when we began this case. Amazingly, even after her dangerous part with John, Crystal still wanted to join our team, and we all voted yes for that, the cats raising their tails straight up for their yes vote. Now we need some time off to relax before any more cases. But will we get it?

The End. But we will be back soon with another adventure.

    • Well, the case was over, we proved that David’s death was murder, not an accident and that is why we were hired. We did not want to go after Victor, not right now at least.
Now, on to our new adventure which begins today!πŸ˜²πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΎπŸ˜ΎπŸ˜ΎπŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
