I was watching on the monitor everything that was going on with the team. I could easily move from one person to the other and survey the whole scene. Annelie has done a fantastic job of putting this all together for me. “Rock, be careful,” I said, “those men are not standing out there 24 hours a day, that means there are replacements in the house.”

“Oh, right, forgot about that possibility,” he said, “but you are right. That makes this even worse for us.” “Yes, just hold off doing anything for a bit until I look around some more,” I told him. I then switched over to Astrid, she is our best sniper and she had climbed this very tall pine tree, all the way to the top. I am glad it was not a windy day. I doubt I could handle watching things sway back and forth. She was enjoying the view though she said.

“Let me survey the north perimeter, slowly,” I said. So she slowly moved along and I could see some of the guards that were posted just inside the trees. “Stop,” I said, “back up just a bit.” She did so. “What do you see down by those two guards?” I asked her. She looked through her binoculars. “Hey, that is a large machine gun,” she said, “that could cut us down very fast.”

“Look around the west perimeter and see if you can see another one,” I told her. “Yep, there it is, better hidden than the other one,” she said. Then she checked the east side and sure enough there was another one there. “That means there is one on your side too,” I said, “you just cannot see it.” I went to Leonardo who was also in a tree and asked if he could see a machine gun on the south perimeter.

“Yep, there it is,” he said, “those are dangerous, we would not have a chance if they use them. We will have to put them out of commission before anything else.” “Yes, that is true,” I said. Then I went back to Rock and told him what we found out. “Astrid found some machine guns, as did Leonardo,” I said, “big guns, so they will need to be stopped first before doing anything else. Wait just a bit until I call back.”

“Okay Steve,” he said, “that sure changes things for us.” I then called Baldwin to let him know about those machine guns. “That is not good news,” he said, “I do not really like this.” “I agree,” I said, “by the way, did you remember to send someone to meet Chung at the airport? His plane should be in.” “Yes, I am here myself,” he said, “I needed to get out and participate too, besides, I was just sitting there worrying about things anyway. Now I can worry even more.

Oh, here comes Chung now, with someone else.” We hung up, but hearing about someone being with Chung bothered me. Probably because of all that is going on right now. “Hi Chung,” said Baldwin, “did you have a good trip?” Chung said nothing, just handed a note to Baldwin. The note read, “Call off your team, or you will die, with the Chinese man. The Doctor.”

“Never!” said Baldwin to the man with Chung, “take him!” Baldwin’s bodyguards moved to take the man, but before they could grab him he put a knife in Chung’s back and he fell to the floor. The man pulled a gun too but was shot by a bodyguard. Then a loud shot rang across the room and Baldwin fell to the floor. Airport security tried to get the man but he shot the one and began to run.

Another bodyguard shot and the man fell. Good thing there were not many people around at the time. I was notified immediately and told that both Baldwin and Chung were still alive and were being brought to our hospital. I told Saranna and she got ready. Annelie and Sigurbjorn got ready to assist her. The doctor knew, but how? The only people that have left this hospital since our meeting was Baldwin, Mandar and our mystery visitor.

No one could have contacted him from here or we would know about it. However, one of our 3 top men may have inadvertently said something which was picked up by one of their men working for the doctor. I trust each of them, they would not deliberately be a traitor, but sometimes ‘walls have ears’. I called Mandar and told him what happened and warned him to be careful, the doctor might try to kill him too.

I then called our mystery visitor to tell him. He was very concerned about this news, as was Mandar. “Whatever you decide is okay with me Steve,” he said, “my men are volunteers, they knew this could be very dangerous.” “Mandar said we could just destroy the house,” I said, “which would be safer, but I would like to know what he is up to, it could be important.”

Sky was now very happy that I had her stay behind too, now she can help protect me. After all, the doctor would be after me too. What to do…

  1. Wow, machine guns and Chung and Baldwin both injured and they know your team is there! You might want to regroup and do it another time when things are more under control!🤨

    • Yes, it is looking a bit tough at the moment. But Baldwin, Mandar and our visitor seem content with going in still. However, I am more hesitant about this now. There are a lot of soldiers out there and with those machine guns, it does give them a real advantage. Plus they know we are coming, a plus for them, a negative for us. We wanted to surprise and we are the ones surprised. This is not good at all.🤔👩😐😾😾😾🕵️‍♂️

      • I think they got the draw on you this time! Best to regroup I think 🤔 Besides you’ve got Baldwin and Chung to consider… you don’t want compound the issue…😬

      • Yes, they beat us at our game, somehow they knew, but how? The doc also seemed to know when Chung would be coming back home. Chung being away was a closely guarded secret. Yep, and we do need our two nurses back home right now too. I will probably call it off for now.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • Now to figure out how he knew?? That could be difficult 😕 especially if you trust everyone, you can’t go interrogating the whole crew…🙄🤔🤔😒

      • Well, it can’t be any of the team that went since none of them knew what was going to happen until our meeting, then none left here. About Chung, however, our team knew, and Baldwin, but no one else. And we have a good team now, I trust them and that’s important. Yep, can’t interrogate everyone, so we might not know how the doc knew. Right now the important thing is keeping Chung and Baldwin alive.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • Yep, both have become good friends for me and Chung just finished his studies and is now an MD. That would give us 2 doctors and we are planning a big party for Chung!😊🕵️‍♂️

      • Yes indeed! There is another thing. How did the doc know that Baldwin would be meeting Chung at the airport? That was kind of a last minute decision. Strange.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • Wouldn’t be the first time that Baldwin has had problems with someone in his corporation selling information. Remember, the doctor was too. He could have informants in there still.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • That’s a good observation! Now you need to track down anyone that knew he was going! But it must be done quietly 🤫 so they don’t know you’re looking. Then you can set them up to catch them and maybe even the Doctor??🤔🤔

      • Yeah, but it might not be easy. Baldwin has a habit of talking to himself, anyone in his immediate office area could possibly hear him. His personal office is checked regularly, but irregularly, for listening devices. The cats even help with that. However, Sky has an idea on that and she might be right.🤔👩🕵️‍♂️

      • Yep, we will do that, and very soon in fact. I want to put out some false information which I hope will get through to the doctor.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • He is willing to help out any way he can, but right now I want him to stay hidden and guarded. No need to give the doctor another target to shoot at.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • Yes, thoughts are good too, yes indeed. And he has provided some too, yes indeed. Though blowing up his house is not really what I want to do. But it does give me another idea.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • No no, not my house, his house, the estate house, which would stop the doctor, providing the doctor is even out there and something tells me he is not there anymore. He just set a trap for us to get rid of us. That is what I think anyway.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • When he finds out we have gone, those guards will disappear too. That country will not leave them there indefinitely.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • Yep, then we could continue with our original case of looking for the jewels, a bit safer. Yep, he might leave some traps behind so we will be watchful. However, I have this feeling of another problem coming our way and I just can’t shake it. But surely nothing else can happen.😲🕵️‍♂️

      • There is a lot going on right now! You got two of the most important team members injured and they could go after Mandar and or even you or your team!!😬😬😳😲

  2. The doctor with all of his government connections, his shield for telecommunications, could have surveillance equipment that let him know your team was coming. Satellites and even drones can catch conversations. Of course helicopters are hard to hide even 5 kilometers away from the house. They could observe you leaving and coming to their area. We are talking about a well funded operation.

    • That is true, but he knew long before the team got anywhere close to him. He had Chung followed with that note ready. Chung was in the US finishing his studies, he is now an MD. No one but us knew where he was and when he was coming home. But the doctor knew, somehow. Yes, with this other country involved, it really changes things for technology availability. We will be starting to use drones too from now on, but did not have them ready for this case. And how did he know that Baldwin would be meeting Chung? Questions, questions. Not enough answers.🤔👩😾😾😾🕵️‍♂️

      • Yes, lots of questions. Even our cell phones listen to our conversations. Say something and an ad on that precise subject comes up. Not much privacy these days. Don’t know how they knew but there are many ways to find out.

      • Yes, I have noticed that too. Well, the doctor set a trap for us, now it is our turn to set a trap. We may not catch the doctor, but we may plug a leak! We will catch that doctor too, eventually, it just might take a little longer.🤔🕵️‍♂️

      • It is wisdom to pull back and get a plan so you do not have a massacre. The doctor is ruthless. He can be caught but there must be a good plan.

      • Yes, I think the doctor has left the house already anyway, it was just a trap to stop us. First I will set a trap to stop that leak so he gets no more information. Then we can concentrate on the doctor once he thinks we are off the case for good. That way he will relax more. If he relaxes he might make a mistake. This might take some time, but we will get him eventually. Right now we need to get our nurses back here too, Saranna needs help.🤔👩🕵️‍♂️

      • Good you obeyed Saranna’s orders. Yes, the doctor will eventually get caught in his own trap. However, the leak happened, it does need to be stopped. The investigators are getting well known and you have many who would like to stop you. You and Sky never got your honeymoon due too much activity or your being in the hospital!

      • Yes, we will catch him, eventually. I think the leak is through Baldwin’s personal secretary at his main office. She is trusted by Baldwin and has been with him for years. Sky does not trust her and neither does Muffin, so I will lay a trap for her to find out for sure. Yes, hopefully Sky and I will get our honeymoon yet. Sometime.🙄👩🕵️‍♂️

      • There is so much I am unaware of as a reader. You will find the leak. I had thought about your team and thought they were trustworthy. Baldwin’s secretary must hate him. since he was nearly killed.

      • Yes, it is hard to put everything into the story or it would be rather long! I try to put the most important things in and this will make it, you just got an early taste! She might have been planted in there years ago by that unfriendly country since Baldwin’s corporation gets a lot of government contracts, including military. Hard to keep the spies out sometimes.🤔🕵️‍♂️

  3. Wow ! This is a strange thing to have happened ! Who is the betrayer ? Extreme caution is required ! I thought Chung was a Doctor already 🤔 ! Is Muffin still with you ? 🕵️‍♂️👩👩‍🦰👩‍🦰👩‍🦱😻😳

    • No, Chung wasn’t a doctor, he was just working in that direction and is now an MD, so we would now have 2 doctors, which is something we sure need. It could be someone in Baldwin’s corporation, it would not be the first time and since the doctor used to work for Baldwin, he might know others there that would be willing to sell him information. Yes, Muffin is still here, only MC and Storm went with the team. But what to do now?🤔👩😾🕵️‍♂️
