For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to everyone on this another cold day! Grab a cup of coffee and sit with us for a few minutes and enjoy the nature around us. On Sunday it felt very nice, in the afternoon at least. The sun was shining and there was very little wind. And, on my deck now it gets very warm with the sun shining fully on it, so it was very nice sitting out there with bare hands that afternoon, my hands not getting cold at all, even after an hour.
Yesterday, the first day of spring, was so different. It was still sunny, but so cold, and there was a wind as well to contend with. The high was only 16F (-9C) yesterday and with that wind blowing across the deck, it was cold. My hands nearly froze out there and I was only out for 35 minutes. What a difference. This morning it is cold again, and a light wind.
Female Downy Woodpecker.
It is sunny, but supposed to cloud over this afternoon and a snowstorm coming our way for tonight and tomorrow. It may miss us though. I am hoping it does. But it should get a bit milder afterwards. Not warm mild, just milder than what it is presently. There are still a couple female pine grosbeaks here and that is quite late for them to hang around. The birds are still coming to my hand for food, quite a few of them now.
Female Hairy Woodpecker, looks like the Downy, but much bigger and with a longer beak.
Some actually prefer coming to my hand rather than getting the food on the step. They will actually line up on the railing now waiting for their turn to come onto my hand. I am certainly getting a lot of great photos of them too. Hundreds now actually. Which is great. I never thought it would be possible to get any photos of the Boreal chickadee and now I have around 200 of them.
I may not keep all of them though, but I will wait until they stop coming before I really sort them out completely. Then I will just keep the best ones. That will still be a lot though, which is fine with me. I was putting the food out this morning and Benson was there waiting, so I put a little on my hand and he came over right away, as did Carine. I did not see Chloe this morning though.

All the other birds are busy this morning too. I am looking forward to spring. I think I mentioned that before. I prefer warm weather. Yes, I have mentioned that too. Dreaming of warm weather and warm places is so nice. Then I look out the window and come back to reality. Oh well. It is coming, sometime. I hope you all have a very wonderful day and God bless!

Amazing shot, the bird getting ready to fly. So it is sunny, somehow the sun began to show up, but cloudy.. hmm we can fix that, just wait for some more time, soon the cold winds will get warm. Have a lovely Tuesday uncle Steve β¨π€
