The Investigators, Inc. The Case of Mystery. Chapter 4. Escape.
After Kristina issued the warning about our prisoner, Trisha came into my room. “Do not close that door!” yelled Kristina. She and Sky ran out, but Sky told Trisha to stay with me. “Do you have your gun?” I asked her. “No, mom did not want me carrying it to town,” she said. I handed her one of mine, I had two of them. Muffin, MC and Kathee were in the room too and Kathee had her gun out and ready.
Meow,meow.=Feel not dressed without backpack. Meow.=Yep, me too. “You still have your claws guys,” said Trisha smiling. Our prisoner was heading for the door but Angel was there, armed with her dart gun and sleeping darts. She fired twice but the man laughed and pulled them out. Then he grabbed Angel, picked her up and tossed her against the wall. She fell, unconscious.
He then opened the door and walked out, something he should not be able to do when we are in lockdown. The 4 front guards were all lying on the ground and a van was waiting for the man. Kristina was there first and was about to shoot when she suddenly flew backward and to the floor, bleeding. Sky and Crystal arrived next, but Sky told her to stay out of sight.
Sky could see the man and still stay out of sight of the van. She shot 6 times and the man staggered a bit, and almost made it into the van, but fell to the ground. The van sped away, but two of the back guards, having heard the gunshots, came running to the front and shot at the van. It did no good however, it must have been heavily armored and got away.
The guards went running to the front door, stopping to check on the prisoner, who was dead. “Why could I not shoot those other guards?” asked Carmen. “I told you before, it does not have endless energy,” said Toledo, “it needs to be recharged. You were using it too much.” “You need to improve that, make it endless energy,” she said. “If I could do that, I would be the wealthiest man in the world,” he said, “and I would not waste the potential on some minor weapon.”
“Money, that is all you ever think about,” said Carmen. “And revenge is all you think about,” he replied. They stayed down the road a short distance and watched. A large car came driving up. “No one inside,” said Carmen. “Have you not heard of self driving cars?” asked Toledo. The car stayed there for a while, then one of the guards waved it away. It drove out to the road and off it went, past the van.
“Are you going to follow it?” asked Carmen. “Why?” asked Toledo, “there is no one inside. They want us to follow the car so they can get away.” “Oh, that makes sense, I guess,” she said. They waited for a while, then went back to the hospital and up to the front door. “I can take energy from the hospital to recharge the machine,” said Toledo.
He took out another small gadget and checked for the electrical current, but there was none. He laughed. “They fooled us,” he said, “they must have been in the car, and they have turned off the electricity here.” “So the place is locked and they are gone,” she growled, “I told you to follow that car.” “You should listen to me and kill Steve right away,” he said.
“No, I want to hurt him for a while first, then kill him,” she said, “like a cat playing with a mouse.” “You are going about it all wrong,” he said, “if you want to hurt Steve, kill Sky and his cat. He does not care about himself so much, but killing them will hurt him for a long, long time. That is why I killed his first wife, Kat.”
“Not a bad idea,” she said, “Steve would likely think you did it again and he would go after you and not me.” She laughed at the thought. “Hmm, you might have a point there,” he said, “anyway, off we go so we can charge the machine again.” “Show me how to do it too,” she said. “Sorry, only I will ever know how to do that,” he said, “I do not trust you anymore than you trust me.”
“How do you know I will not kill you once this machine is charged again?” she asked. “Because you need me,” he replied, “but I do not need you.” He smiled and got back into the van. So did Carmen, slowly, after looking at her dead man. “I will have to kill two of those girls for killing my man,” she said. “Oh, apes like that are easy to find,” said Toledo shaking his head as they drove away.
We were safely back at the chateau, having gotten into the car from an escape tunnel that comes up under the place where the car parked, then through a hole in the floor. We just lay down until past the van a good distance, the windows are very dark anyway making it impossible to see us. But we heard everything they said, so preparations are now underway for Sky, Trisha, Muffin and MC to go into hiding…

Sky, Trisha, Muffin and MC will be going to a safe hiding spot until this is over. They will have guards though, but no one else, not even me, will know where they will be. I will be able to contact them however, if it is needed.🤔👩👩😾😾🕵️♂️

Ah ha!!! So it is Toledo! (with Carmens’ help! Or maybe the other way round) Anyway he’s got you right where you want him!!😂😂

We have made some improvements around here now, Toledo is not the only smart one. We escaped right under his nose! But, we need to keep my family safe now so they will be going to a safe hiding spot, with guards. But no one else will know where they will be, not our team, not even me.🤔👩👩😾😾🕵️♂️

We need to find out where they are staying, then we can stop them easily. But first is getting the family safely out of here without them knowing about it. That will require some real timing and planning. And a little bit of double play.🤔👩👩😾😾🕵️♂️

Yes, indeed it will! You have to assume everything and everyone are being watched 👀 so there can’t be any errors or lapses in security now!🤨

Very true, we do have one safe room in the chateau, the library, so they cannot spy on us there. So all plans will be made in there and only normal conversations outside that room. The family will be gone tonight, with only one person knowing where they will be, and that person is not any of our team members. They will go to a couple different places on the way to a rendezvous with that person, who will then take them to the safe hideaway. No names will be used, only a code of numbers and letters. Toledo and Carmen will not win this one. We will stop them like we stopped that prisoner.🤨👩👩😾😾🕵️♂️

Yep! Even electronic communications can be compromised so everyone has to be vigilant so they don’t give away what’s going on and where they will be! But! That surveillance could be used against Toledo and Carmen to bait a trap of their demise!🤨😉

So true! We are going to do this right! Although the family will be gone tonight, Crystal will be playing herself and Sky for a couple of days, then we will stage Sky’s departure for parts unknown.🤔👩👩😾😾🕵️♂️

That’s a good idea, I will be doing that too! I would still like to get in touch with my 3 vacationing guys, but so far I cannot reach them at all. I don’t like the sound of that.🤔🕵️♂️

That’s definitely not good!😬 Especially at the same time as you have Toledo running g around causing problems! He could very likely be the reason you haven’t heard from them 🤔🤨

Yes, I have thought of that, but how would Toledo know where to find them? I don’t even know where they are! But I could sure use them here right now. Interesting that all of our guys are away right now.🤔🕵️♂️

Perhaps Toledo has been watching and waited until now to do his evil deeds when he saw that most were away or preoccupied and not paying attention 🤔 🤨

Yes, I think that is very likely why he chose now to hit us. Especially since they had that ape with them. Rock would have thrown him around easy though, just like he threw Angel.🤨🕵️♂️

Yes, they are, plus Benson and Carine will be here tomorrow too. We need them all to handle this one, Toledo is a slippery fish and it is time for us to catch him in a net!🤨🕵️♂️

Yes, Mandar is still here, he is staying at the chateau with us. Once Rock, Baldwin and Benson are here, then Mandar will go back home. But he is leaving his team with us.🤔🕵️♂️

Most absolutely that is true for sure! And we need input right now. It was his idea for Sky to go into hiding and how to accomplish it. Though he has nothing to do with where she will be going.🤔🕵️♂️

No surprise that Toledo is working with Carmen. You do have a problem with Trisha being younger and not so good at following the rules. Hope she and Sky, Muffin and MC get away without any problems. The electronics that Toledo has are sophisticated but he needs to recharge them. Glad you were able to slop away. You and your team are going to have to be vigilant and not assume anything!

Yes, no surprise at all, but, it might be Toledo’s downfall to have a partner. Especially if she wants to be close to us. It could make it easier to find Toledo. Yes, he does need to recharge his machine, that is helpful too, and only he knows how which means it is not a simple process or Carmen could figure it out. We will get my family out safely. And no one will know where they will be, not even me. Someone else not part of our team will know, because that person will be hiding them. They will stay hidden until it is safe to return. We will be vigilant and Mandar’s special team are now here to help us too. Soon Baldwin’s special team will also be helping. But what will happen? And where are our 3 vacationing guys?🤔👩👩😾😾🕵️♂️

Yes, everyone has weaknesses and Toledo has his. Glad you will have Mandar’s team and Baldwin’s teams helping you. It is hard to know what happened to your vacationing men. There communications may have been compromised or they could have been attacked. Toledo’s speciality is messing with electronics and communications, so I would bet on that.
