For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to everyone on this somewhat chilly Wednesday! Well, we seem to have gotten back to more normal temperatures for this time of the year. And it would seem it will head to below normal temps for a couple of days anyway, perhaps longer. Not very far north of us they will be getting some snow flurries, and some places already have had those flurries.
That is a chilly thought. It was certainly cool going out to feed the birds at 5:30 this morning. Yesterday it was so nice that I stayed out there for a long time. Not so this morning, I was quite eager to get back inside again. I have two little Ruby-throated Hummingbirds coming to my hummingbird feeder now. Since it was cooler this morning, they spent more time drinking that nice sugary water.

There are still not a great number of flowers for them to choose from, so these hummingbird feeders that people put out are an important source of food energy for them. And they sure need that energy boost! They are such a beautiful, and tiny, bird. Even our small chickadees look like giants next to those little hummingbirds.

And, just like previous years, whenever I try to get their picture, they move to the other side of the feeder! Then I cannot see them. Naturally. It is like they know I have a camera and they are just too shy to get their picture taken. Amazing really. I do have some nice pics of them however. But I still keep trying. I still need one where they are looking at me. Like all the bird photos I am showing today.
I always try to get a pic of birds while they are looking at me. Some birds cooperate quite nicely, but other birds keep looking away just as I click. Sigh. But I keep trying and I have gotten quite a few species now looking at me, even though some are not quite straight on. So for those I keep trying to get one that is even better. That is part of the fun of photography.

If it was too easy, it would not be fun. Challenges are a good thing for us. One of the biggest things we can learn from challenges is patience. As we learn the patience, we also learn perseverance so that we can keep going and learn how to deal with, and overcome, those challenges. Photography can teach us a lot, besides just taking pictures.

Well, guess it is time to move on for the day. Thank you for joining us, have a wonderful day and God bless!
