The Investigators, Inc. The Case of Baldwin’s Murder. Chapter 8. The Chateau.

While we were busy in London, John was leading the attack at the chateau. They had waited for the fake Steve to be well on his way so he would not be able to turn back. Two of the Major’s men were at the airport to let John know when the plane carrying the fake Steve had taken off. Once they knew that, they waited just a bit to get the perfect time and began to move in closer to the fence line around the property.

John had a little gadget to hook onto our alarm system that was attached to the fence. He just needed to attach this gadget, put in the right code and the alarm would be disarmed. Just then some of the soldiers, 8 of them, brought some of the girls outside. They girls just walked around or sat on the benches without saying a word.

I had told Catalina what our front door was like, so she knew exactly what kind of explosive to use, and how much, to blast the door off its hinges so they could quickly get inside. Kyan, who is our sniper, would disable the cameras outside so the attack could begin. They got as close as possible in the trees, then John signaled Kyan and she began with the camera by the door.

Then Catalina, Cynthia, Aasta and Cinnamon rushed for the door while Kyan continued knocking out the cameras on this side of the chateau. Once she was done, John and the Majors men ran toward the chateau while the remaining girls went for the door just as Catalina set off the charge with a huge blast sending that door, or the remains of it, into the hallway.

That alerted the outside soldiers, but John and the others met them quickly and shot each of them without difficulty. However, the girls outside took out their guns to shoot at John and the others, but they quickly shot all of the girls without losing even one of themselves. Everyone was using the guns with sleeping darts, for safety for the girls and also we wanted to capture everyone alive if possible.

The girls went rushing into the chateau and either shot, or fought the soldiers inside. The fake Sky had Kristina with her and she ordered Kristina to protect her from the enemies. Kristina began to fight, but Galyna, Aasta and Tiffany soon had her subdued. Then Storm and the kittens attacked with their slingshots and the fake Sky fell to the floor just as she had prepared to shoot Catalina.

Another soldier jumped up from behind the couch in the library and began shooting at random. Tiia, one of the kittens, pulled back hard on her slingshot and took the man down with one shot to the forehead. Meowi!=That for hurting my human! Earlier they had seen that soldier hitting Astrid outside which made Tiia angry.

That random shooting had also wounded Cinnamon, Tiffany and Cynthia, but not too seriously. John then called the police to come and pick up the ‘soldiers’ and remove the bodies of the one soldier and the fake Sky. At least we knew these police were real, most of the team knew them very well.

After that the chateau was secured and everyone was moved to the hospital where the drugged and wounded girls could be safely treated, and everyone would be safer for now. It would be nice to say it was all over, but we still have to find the fake Toledo and his 9 friends, there is no safety for us while they are still at large. At least we know who to look for now and we will find them.

The fake Steve was suddenly very cooperative when he found out his wife had been killed. Now he was actually scared that perhaps the fake Toledo would kill him to get him out of the way before he talked. However, he was talking quite freely now giving us information that will be of great help to us. There is still work to do…
