For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Back at the prison Craig, the boss, was sitting around thinking about what Williams had said, that perhaps Kat was truly a ghost. He just could not believe in ghosts however, still, was there really any other viable explanation? He called for Williams again. “Tell me Williams,” he began, “I thought ghosts were supposed to be like a spirit or something, you know, able to walk through walls and fly, but this Kat woman looks very much like a human to me.
People can touch her and she certainly touches other people when she kicks them.” “Yeah, that is true,” answered Williams, “but I watched the security footage of her fighting, no human could move that fast, her legs were a blur.” “Yep, I saw that too,” said Craig, “and that is quite amazing, I must admit.” “And how many humans can point to a person, say, now you die, and they die, right then!” he exclaimed, “plus no one can shoot her, guns just will not work against her, that is not human.”
“Okay, okay, those are good points,” said Craig, “though I am still not sold on the idea yet. What else have you found?” “Something crazy,” he replied, “it seems their doctor tried to get a blood sample from her, and she had no blood, not any, she did not bleed when scratched even.” Craig just stared at him. “Okay, now that is not human,” he said slowly, “everyone bleeds, and I mean everyone. Why did she not bleed?”
“She is a ghost, that is all there is to it,” said Williams, “under blood type on her chart it just said “none”. Craig just stared at him again. “Mark, I want that woman, get her, and fast,” said Craig. “That will not be easy,” he said, “that place is a fortress.” “I did not ask if it would be easy,” said Craig, “I said get her for me, and alive please.”
Both Mark and Williams left together, visiting time was over anyway. Those two were not inmates, but with a few bribes they were able to get time alone with Craig whenever they wanted, they just could not stay too long. It was a good setup for Craig, he kept his business going from his own private “office” in prison. But all this talk about ghosts he is actually thinking about breaking out.
He wants to meet this Kat woman in person, but he did not want to tell this to Mark and Williams. “Gopher,” he said, “I want out, fast.” Gopher thought for a few moments. “They are bringing in a bunch of new guys tomorrow,” he said, “so tomorrow night would be a good time. They will likely not even miss you until morning.”
“Good,” he said, “then get things started, something important has come up and needs my attention.” “No problem boss,” said Gopher. “Never say that to me Gopher,” he said, “then I start to worry about problems happening.” “Oh, sorry boss,” he said, “I forgot.”
Meanwhile, back to us at the clinic. “Kat, what did you say to Steve?” asked Sky, “One minute he is on life support, then suddenly he is fine and healthy.” “Except he was still in a coma,” Kat reminded her. “So, are you going to tell me?” Sky asked again, frowning a bit. “No big secret,” said Kat, “I just told him how much you love him and need him right now. He just needed to know that.”
“But I told him that myself,” said Sky, “you are not telling me everything.” “Does it really matter?” Kat asked, “Steve is doing much better now. And Muffin was here, she knows I did not do anything wrong or say anything I should not say. Except perhaps I did give him a kiss.” “That I would expect,” said Sky, “after all, you are his wife too.”
They both chuckled about that. Then they went back in to be with me. Meow, meow.=Time we leave now, get some breakfast. Her and Snow head for the door but Sky closed it quickly. Meow, meow.=Guess we have to wait longer for breakfast. Meowy.=Yep, look that way. “I just want you to tell me what Kat said to Steve when you two were alone in here,” said Sky, “then you can leave.”
So Muffin said the same thing that Kat said. Sky gave Muffin that “look” of hers. “Hmm, sounds to me like you rehearsed that,” said Sky, “but you can go, pancakes are ready.” She opened the door and both cats zoomed out of there as fast as they could go. By noon I opened my eyes and looked around.
Sky had gone out for some coffee, Kat was sitting in the chair looking out the window, Muffin and Snow were on the bed with me, both sleeping. “Look at that, sleeping on the job,” I said. Kat jumped up and came over to my bed. “Hi Kat,” I said, “and thank you.” “I did not do anything special Steve,” said Kat, “now, how much do you remember?”
“I feel fine,” I said, “and I can remember just fine too. Where is Sky?” “She just stepped out for some coffee,” said Kat, “I am sure she will be here in a minute.” Just then Sky came in and she was so excited she dropped her coffee and came over to hug me…

Now Sky has some exciting news! Could it be that you are cured. You do not appear to be in a coma! The cats sure love their pancakes!!! Oh my, Craig is doing a jailbreak so he can meet Kat for himself. He is buying the ghost story!

Yes, it would appear that I might be cured, hopefully at least. But who knows, maybe it is just temporary again, guess we will have to wait and see. Yes, Sky is certainly happy! Yep, all the cats love pancakes!
Yes, Craig seems to have bought the ghost story, if it is just a story, but will he really want to meet Kat? He might regret that! But it could prove dangerous for Kat too.π€π©π©πΌπΌπΌπΌπΌπ΅οΈββοΈ
