For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
MORNING LAKE
I sat beside a lake one morn,
And watched a sunny day be born.
With each new ray of light I saw,
It filled my heart with greatest awe.
The lake was calm, and smooth as glass,
Some ducks swam by, close to the grass.
In leaves by me, I noise I heard,
I smiled to see, a tiny bird.
Slowly along, a heron walks,
Stealthy he moves, by shore he stalks.
A loon swam past, chick on its back,
Keeping it warm, safe from attack.
The birds abound, with cheery song,
They sang so sweet, so clear, so strong.
Little chipmunk, came o’er to me,
Ran up my arm, so much to see.
Little flower was blooming too,
So small, yet bold, in vivid blue.
Take time to sit, and look around,
And see what beauty, can be found.
