For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hello everyone! Are you ready for a break and enjoy a cup of coffee with me? A nice fresh cup of coffee with friends is always great. I know we have never met, except for a couple of you, but being blogging friends is great too. It is another cloudy day here, but mild, with a temperature of 30F (-1C), quite a difference from those frigid temps last week.
Really, it has been quite a nice winter, temperature wise, and these mild temps are expected to continue until around February 4, so that is nice! We may even get above freezing a few days. Unfortunately we do not have much snow, and while that is nice in some ways, it is not good since it could prove to be a dry spring and summer.

Male Downy Woodpecker.
The long range forecast is for more snowstorms from about late February until the first half of April. Oh well, those long range forecasts are seldom correct anyway. What we get is what we get. Anyway, I am enjoying the milder weather this winter.
There was an important meeting here at our apartment building yesterday. We found out that the water pipes in our building are falling apart, quite literally. That is creating problems and if left unattended would cause even more major problems. So, they are going to fix it. That process will last from January 30 to February 20.

Here he is again. These are very small woodpeckers and look like they could be baby Hairy Woodpeckers.
The lady then told us that would cause some inconveniences for us. I like the way she said that. What that means, when translated into normal English, is that we will be without water while they fix the pipes. I am not sure how you would consider that, but it seems to me that is more than an inconvenience. But that is just me.
I asked questions about different things, so did others, but for some reason none of us remembered to ask about the laundry room. So, now I need to find someone who knows if, and when, the laundry room will be open to us. Kind of an important item. Now, they will turn the water on periodically, though it might be brownish. But it will still be safe to use, we were told.

Waiting for his turn at the feeder.
I do not like the idea of using brown water for cooking, or washing for that matter. Oh well, it should be an interesting time. We are supposed to fill as many containers as possible with water before this starts. Easy for me, I have a lot of plastic totes left over from moving and they hold a lot of water. Now, things might not go as planned, she said, so it could take longer. Naturally.
They will be providing drinking water though, and helping people who need it during this time, so that is nice. Should be interesting, hopefully they do not encounter extra problems along the way. I am not complaining though, I am very happy they are looking after this building and getting things fixed when it is needed. Well, time to say good bye for now, thank you for stopping by for coffee today. Have a great day and God bless!

There’s always something new…. I hope it really only takes twenty days! 😱

I found out today the laundry room will still be available, but only at night or on weekends. So that is a plus. Yes, I hope it doesn’t take any longer!🙄🙀

We have the same problem where we live, Steve. We live in an apartment complex with 11 buildings that are approximately 30 years old. The buildings have a sprinkler system, and when the pipes burst due to freezing temps, there is a huge mess. Last winter, it was our apartment and 2 days ago it was an apartment upstairs.
We keep plenty of bottled water handy, and also large plastic tubs.
Yes, it is a big inconvenience but at least your management is being proactive where our management lets the disaster happen and then help clean up the mess. 😾😱☕☕☂️

That does not sound like fun at all. Yes, our management are good at dealing with issues that arise. They are providing us with all the drinking water we need and will be checking on us every 2 to 3 hours to make sure all is okay.😊😺❄️☕☕

I hope it goes as planned and as fast as possible. A year ago, to this date exactly, we were out of water for five days because the pipes froze (probably was the main conduit to the street)… It was very unpleasant.
I feel for Muffin and you. But like you wrote, it is for the best, better take care of it and plan it rather than only deal with iy when problems arise. Have a nice Tuesday !

Yep, no fun being without water, plus all the extra noises in the hallway that Muffin will not like at all. I am glad they are fixing the problem now before it gets worse and we end up with a big watery mess to clean up.
Enjoy your day!😊😺☕☕
