The Investigators, Inc. The Case of Carole Ann’s Return. Chapter 8. Shining Ball.

After the dust settled, quite literally, Agata got up, angry as a wild bear because I had pushed her down so she scraped her arm. But Honey went to her right away and explained that I pushed her down because there was a large stone flying toward her, and if it hit her head it would likely kill her. So I had pushed her out of the way and the stone hit me instead, though not on my head since I was taller, but on my back.

It knocked me flat onto the ground where I lay motionless. The anger Agata had disappeared immediately and she began to cry because I was not moving. Then she looked and saw Sky lying on the ground too, her head bleeding. Neither of us moved. Poor Agata, she kept saying “No, no, no, I do not want him to die, I do not want him to die, please say he will not die, please!”

Galyna came over to help calm her down, as did Aasta who also called Snow and Tiia to come help. The log house was completely in flames now so there was no way to contact Mandar. Matt and his team had phones, but they did not work way out here. They would have to wait for help to arrive, or wait for night when they could use that satellite.

Rascal asked Jennifer to come with him and he stopped at a certain spot. Meowerr=How often shining ball in sky come? “Every 12 hours,” she told him. Meowerr=Last night it 11:35 when shining ball straight up from here, what time now? “It is 11:25,” said Jennifer, “so that means in 10 minutes it will be right overhead.”

She called Muffin to come. “Muffin, you have the best experience in sending messages,” she said, “in 5 minutes I want you to start sending a message to Storm. I will aim you in the right direction.”

Meanwhile, back home. There was a loud scream from Storm as he came running inside to library. Meowr!!=Message from Muffin, very bad! Men attack. House burn. Underfeet house boom boom. Code Red A1, A2. Others hurt. Help need now!! Mandar was on the phone with Richard, his helicopter pilot.

“He is already in the air with more help and will bring back Steve and Sky if they are still alive,” he said, “I will have my new hospital jet at the airport in that closest city to them, but we need a doctor, and it is too late to send Kerstina.” She was in the library at the time all this was happening. “I know an excellent surgeon in that city,” she said, “perhaps I can get him to help.”

“Well, what are you waiting for?” exclaimed Baldwin, “Get in touch, I will pay whatever he wants!” She called him right away and he would be at the airport when the jet arrived. “He is in negotiations with his hospital right now,” said Kerstina, “they want to lower his wage and give less vacation time. Perhaps we could try to get him to work here for us? He is an excellent surgeon and we do need another doctor.”

“Good idea, glad I thought of that!” said Baldwin, “I will talk to him when he gets here.” “And do offer him a decent wage, my good man,” said Mandar, “remember, you want to attract him, not scare him away.” Now, back to us. Meow,meow!=Message make it, help coming!

Jennifer went back to check on Sky and myself. Bridgette was trying to stop the bleeding on Sky’s head, but without success. She was very worried. Jennifer told her to check on me while she watched Sky. I was awake now, but not moving, and Bridgette told me to lie still and not try to move. That was something she did not need to tell me.

Penny came with some fresh water for Jennifer. Bridgette came back to see what Jennifer was doing. “I am just washing the blood from her hair,” said Jennifer, “so we can see things better. It does not look so bad now.” Bridgette looked at Sky, then at Jennifer. “That was a big gash on the side of her head,” said Bridgette, “now it is a barely noticeable, small cut that is no longer bleeding. What did you do?”

“Sometimes I think you underestimate yourself Bridgette,” said Jennifer smiling, “you are the nurse, not me, and you are doing a great job.” “But I did not…”, she began to say, but Jennifer was already over looking at me. “I hope you can help Steve too,” she said to herself as she watched Jennifer gently rubbing my back.

Bridgette had already cut the shirt off of me. Kera and Ginnifer were also wounded, but only more minor cuts to their arms and legs. However, there were some pieces of metal in their backs it was discovered, after blood showed up on their shirts. It seemed like hours, though it really was not, and we were on the jet heading home…
