For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to all of you on this fine sunny Thursday! Time to grab that cup of coffee, sit back and relax for a few minutes with Muffin and I. That sunshine is a bit deceiving though, it is cold out there again, though a couple of degrees warmer than yesterday. Yeah, not much, but it is something anyway.
Although the temperature will be a little colder for a couple more nights yet before it begins to get somewhat milder next week. Speaking of milder. They were in yesterday to change the thermostats in here with these nice new digital versions that are supposed to be so much better. I am not impressed with them so far.

Some pictures today of male Common Redpolls, visitors from the far north.
I have the temperature set higher and yet it is colder in here. Apparently that is the idea, saves on heating. I am not sure about that one, but it works on the idea that if no one is in the room, the heat does not come on much in that room. Which makes the room colder. And takes longer to warm up once I enter the room. Oh well. Minor details.

Same little guy as the one above.
Spring is on the way, another month perhaps and spring will be here. I hope. I got a laugh from our forecast today. It said it would be sunny today and clearing this evening. Clearing from what? The sun? I wonder if anyone actually reads these forecasts before they are published? I did not get much sleep last night for some reason. Had trouble getting comfortable again.
Speaking of Muffin. She wanted breakfast this morning. Nothing new about that, she wants breakfast every morning. I kind of like that routine myself. Works good. Usually I just have cereal, but sometimes toast or even French toast. I wonder why it is called French toast? Perhaps it was invented in France? Anyway, it sure is good. Especially with bacon. And coffee, of course. Delicious breakfast!

Here is a different one on a dull, cloudy day.
But I digress. Back to Muffin and her breakfast. I opened the container and it slipped and splatted all over the floor. Muffin was not impressed. I thought she might eat it anyway. She just sat looking at it, then looking at me as if to say, “it fell on the floor, it’s dirty now and you expect me to eat it?”
Actually, I think it was the floor that was dirty now. I cleaned up the mess, but still have to wash the floor. After lunch. Then I poured my coconut milk on my cereal. Yuck, it had gone bad. Terrible smell, and did not look good either. Sigh. Two breakfasts ended up in the garbage.

Here is a younger male, they have less red than the older males.
Not a good start to the day. Oh well. Minor details. Oh my, it is getting close to lunch already. Thank you for joining us for coffee today, have a great day and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

I like your positivity, Steve. And the fact that, despite the cold temperatures you still find strength and time to capture these beautiful shots.
I don’t need to remind you to pay attention to spoiled foods, I believe. Pay attention and in the end you’ll thank yourself and God.
Have a lovely evening. π

Thank you for your kind words Katherine!
Yes, spoiled food can be dangerous. I ate some meat that was obviously not so good a couple weeks ago and was sick for 3 days. Not so bad I guess, could have been worse. I don’t think it had gone bad completely yet, but was getting that way.
Enjoy your day!ππΊπββ

Yeah, well, don’t Steve. Even that food seems slightly off but still looks edible. It’s a trap π.
Thanks, you too! Have a great weekend ahead, you and Muffin π§.

Yep, I agree, better to toss it than eat it if there is any question about it.π² I would rather not get sick so I will definitely be more careful next time.
Thank you Katherine!ππ»

Happy Thursday, Steve. So good you had a replacement meal for Muffin and yourself.sunshine does make things appear better. Your βsmartβ thermostat sounds like the management saying on their heating costs, just as you expected. Trust your inside plants are still thriving despite the cooler temperatures. You need The Investigators to figure out how to over ride the cooler temperatures.βThe photos are good and can take you back when all the birds were nearby. Take heart, summer is coming! (Here in the Far North we get break up and then go into summer. Stay warm!!!!

Yes, it’s amazing that we both needed a replacement breakfast on the same day! That has never happened before and hopefully it doesn’t happen again anytime soon.π
Guess I just need to dress warmer from now on, Muffin generally enjoys slightly cooler temps anyway, but she is always wearing a fur coat which helps her!πΉπ²
Thanks so much! A new story has begun today too!π€π©πΌπ΅οΈββοΈ
